Thank you for the list!
SUCH A POWERFUL LIST!
It's a good list to be sure. Appreciation is so overlooked these days. My list also includes authenticity / integrity of self. When I think about the times in my life when I have not been happy, I notice they generally center around trying to be something someone else wanted me to be.
Kari Faller - You’re welcome Kari! 😊
Savant - Totally agree with you! It can be particularly difficult when you love them and don’t want to make them feel bad. But it needs to be a balance game so it’s important to be authentic, as you said 👌🏼🙏🏼💪🏼
I adore Jessica and I love that she's been given this opportunity ❤️😍 Let's not forget about the elephant in the room though, YT invites her to speak on panels and creator events, then when she makes videos addressing various issues (LGBTQI+ rights, religion, environmentalism, rights for the disabled etc) they are demonetized; which is how she earns a living. She has also made videos in the past showing the YT events she has been invited to, but then all the food offered isn't anything she can eat (because no one bothered to watch her channel to find out what her needs are even though she's an invited guest). It's kind of awful when you think about it more deeply.
As a person with coeliac I never expect anyone to feed me - when you have dietary needs it's so easy for someone to get it wrong and make you really ill. But it is really helpful if there's facilities to heat food (microwave/ kettle/ oven)
@@user-rc1my2xc3s thank you for your response. I completely agree with your concerns (a good friend of mine has coeliac and my partner was recently diagnosed with a nut allergy), so not knowing what is in the food or who made it is definitely cause for concern. The reason I point out this situation with Jessica, is because at one YT event in the UK, the situation was rectified when someone on staff went to go get a fruit plate/vegetarian salad platter for her. I mean this is YT (owned by Google) we're talking about; no one thought ahead to even have a vegetarian salad option available? What if there was someone in attendance who didn't eat meat and there wasn't that option? A lot of people with dietary requirements - like yourself - may not expect to be catered for, but if you've been invited as a guest speaker, knowing that there's at least 2 hours of commuting involved, lots of talking and socializing, and you suffer from conditions that deplete your energy reserves, then the very least the hosts can do is be prepared and not require their invited guests to ask for food so they can make it through the event without collapsing.
Could you point me to the video where Jessica talks about her videos being demonetized? I haven't heard her talk about that.
@@nakitahime I'm not sure if you're a constant viewer of all of her videos, but it's become a running 'joke' the past 7 months of just how many of her videos are demonetized. If you watch her video titled *LGBTQ+ Relationships Should Be Taught In Schools* th-cam.com/video/y8Ogv1aCb_Q/w-d-xo.html she mentioned this with a bold statement and text within the first 23 seconds of the video. Considering this is her main source of income, there's only so much she can rock the boat, so it's not surprising to me that she quickly turned to Patreon as well. If you go back and watch her catalogue of videos, she makes subtle remarks and jokes here and there about the likelihood of the demonetization of her content.
Really? She Couldn't call up and make sure the right food will be there, let them know? Like a normal person. Guess not. You idiot
Can we please have a video about disability that doesn't demonize psychiatric meds? I don't think Jessica would appreciate that message either, she is one of my favorite creators and usually very on point.
Loved Jessica's portions of the video! Like other commenters, I was disappointed with the narrator's description of anti-depressants as "happy pills." Like, that's not what they are or how they work? They're to help people to function normally (along with a good therapist.) They're necessary for some people's daily lives, and calling them "happy pills" really diminishes their vital importance.
Thank you!! That part really ticked me off. I have a friend who needs her medication to mentally function normal in life. Her emotions send her through a tail spin for literally no reason. I also know someone with diagnosed OCD and Prozac makes life so much easier for him to have a normal life.
@@jess8920 I absolutely agree.
Right, "function pills" it is.
Like there is a difference between ‘happy pill’ and what depression medications are for. Taking a depression medication doesn’t make you happy, it just keeps you alive, and gives you a chance to potentially reach for happiness
I love Jessica and I was really excited for this, so I was really disappointed about the part when they talked about psychiatric drugs. Calling them ‘happy pills’ is actually not accurate at all and perpetuates the stereotype that mentally ill people don’t actually need them and are not sick at all, when in reality they are necessary to maintain a healthy state of a vital organ (the brain) in many people. Insinuating that they are a way of cheating the system to become happy leads to a stigma against seeking help for mental illnesses which leads to deaths by suicide. I acknowledge that the prevalence of depression and other mood disorders in our society is worrying, but saying that because of this it is not worth treating is absolutely wrong and costs lives.
I came into the comments hoping I was not the only one to notice this. I really appreciate Jessica's portion of the video, but the comments about psychiatric drugs and comparing amphetamines with Adderall and Prozac really upset me. My anti-depressants don't make me happy - they make me Not Depressed (and only when joined with a doctor's guidance and cognitive behavioural therapy). Being depressed is not like being sad. It is a medical disorder that can be fatal. My goal when taking anti-depressants is not to feel happy, but to feel normal. To be able to get up out of bed and take my dog for a walk, or go to work. To FUNCTION. The casual dismissal of "everyone being on meds" these days makes all of us taking those meds like it's a personal failing, and that we've just thrown drugs at the problem that could be cured with a spa day or "just getting over it". Seems like a weird thing to say when you have someone speaking on your channel who has to live with invisible illness stigma and LOTS of medications every day.
Liz M couldn’t have said it better myself! I really hope they didn’t run that by Jessica because usually she’s quite good about mental illness related stigma. I’m glad I’m not the only one! I wish you all the best, and have a lovely day! :)
Happy Pills are the greatest life hack. A legit cheat code.
@@InnerRise Sorry, what did you mean by that? And if you think psychiatric drugs are 'happy pills', please read my comment and Liz M's reply.
Honestly couldn't have said it better myself. Needing something to be normal shouldn't be put down like this - this is the reason so many people don't seek help.

I feel as if Jessica is bring used almost as a prop? No criticism of her, she was underutilized in this video. Jessica has a lot of things to say, and I encourage everyone to check out the incredible, in-depth content she creates on her channel. Also, calling medications that help people maintain good mental health 'happy pills'? Yikes! Watch Jessica's videos for a balanced and positive view of illness.
OMG I kind of felt like this too. Everything the narrators said seemed... ableist and rubbed me the wrong way. Jessica's part was amazing though!
And you know when the creator you work with comes out hours later on Twitter and is apologizing for the videos bad wording she wasn't properly consulted.
Totally agree with everything you say.
Definitely, a prop or a puppet! I stopped watching her some time ago but she's not just a pretty lady with a stylish hair-do and 1950s clothes.

@@stiannobelisto573 His family of origin is very rich and he is a well-known academic teacher, writer and public speaker. I doubt he cares that much about the profit; there are lots of people who contribute to the SoL videos and they need their bread and butter too.
I discovered Jessica about the same time I started suffering from chronic pain/health problems. She's been such a reassuring figure for me, and I always wondered how she stayed so upbeat. ❤
... Ahh, uh. I'm really kind of worried about the framing of Adderall as "happy pills." Like, it's weird to have a wonderful disability advocate in your video? But then hit some really ableist notes for those of us who have a need for things like Adderall (ADHD, anyone?).
Yeahh. My ADHD meds have never made me happy, it makes me function. Same with my antidepressant. I do the things you are supposed to do, work out, eat healthy, do mindfulness and meditation. But without my medications I don't have the focus nor energy to do these healthy habits consistently enough which snowballs and makes me even less able to do the good things. It's so frustrating when people think everyone has the same few figurative handicaps in life as they do and that those who struggle more just aren't trying hard enough.
Yeah, I mean, it certainly helps with my happiness levels to be able to focus on basic things like doing the dishes without hating myself for days beforehand while they build up and start to smell, but that doesn't make adderall a "happy pill." It just gets me closer to being as able as the average person to handle daily tasks and work that matters to me. You know, like medicine is supposed to.
@@Call-me-Al Yeah, same here. My pills just put up a barrier to the extreme annoyance and anger that overloads my brain if I go without them. I was SO angry, ALL the time, before I started taking my medication. They don't make me happy. They let me be content/not angry. Being happy AFTER that is caused by my favorite song, a beautiful day, seeing a cute animal...
They level me out to a neutral baseline, and prevent the overload of incoming stimulus from hijacking my brain and flipping the rage switch.
I am really disappointed by how this was done. The last thing I expected was for that video to be ableist..o.o I feel pretty confused.
@Corvus Morve you're infuriatingly ignorant. Look up "masking" in autism context. People used to believe ADHD was a childhood disease people outgrew as adults. In fact, you never outgrow it, you just become more skilled at managing your disabilities, especially if you only have a mild case of it. However, as you become old and start getting normal age related cognitive decline, people with autism and ADHD will appear to worsen exponentially compared to neurotypical people, because they no longer have the cognitive ability to mask and compensate for their disabilities. Things that come effortlessly to neurotypical people is something the rest of us have to put in a ton of effort every single day to achieve.
Things like daily meditation helps train your brain to function better, but it will never cure you. If you are lucky to have a good support net from infancy and all the right interests, you may never experience ADHD as a disability because you've been lucky enough to fall into a career niche that both suits you as an individual and where your ADHD traits work to your advantage instead of disadvantage. Stop acting like such an arrogant asshat.
What would make you happy?

Yay! I'm so glad this finally came out! Ever since Jessica started hyping it up on her insta I've been dying to see it and I loved it!!
Came for the Jessica, cringed for the calling Adderall "happy pills"
Don't even know why they called them happy pills LMFAO. They're meant for focus and stabilizing you if your mind is going a mile a minute. I used to take them in high school for ADHD so i could focus on my homework and the lessons. Subsequently picked up an addiction to them in college so...yeah (4 years clean now). Definitely the furthest thing from happy pills.
Yeah. I was trying to give School of Life another chance but they've confirmed that I was right to stop following them awhile ago. They're out of touch and preachy in dangerous ways. Medshaming and pretending that money isn't a legitimate need in modern society, ESPECIALLY for those living with disabilities.
I hope Jessica got a good paycheck from this at least because she's lovely.
@@LadyBGames They actually made me very happy 😄 I was the biggest pessimist
Omg I love Jessica I'm so happy you are collabing!!
Same!
Love Jessica, but this video wasn't great. Why not let her actually host the video and give the audience all that info instead of just putting her face in everything?
H S completely agree. I saw a cool red head and thought it looked terrific. Then she barely shows up. She’s cool. Too much set up.
I can see the warmth and glow from within thats vibrating on the same frequency of happiness in the world around her. It's such a beautiful thing to see, and naturally when someone is in that flow they become magnetically energized and pull in others around you and endless doors of opportunity to chose from, to experience, this creating more moments of happiness. Don't ever give up your light.
Well said.
Adderall is a stimulant, not a happy pill. It’s used to speed up the brain in people with adhd whose brains actually don’t run as quickly (the reason behind the distraction and difficulty remembering things and keeping up on finishing tasks).
I’ve also seen it used for people with narcoleptic sleeping disorders. Which is kind of cool.
Antidepressants don't work for everyone - I haven't found one that works for me without unlivable side effects - but they do work for a lot of people, so could we maybe not discourage people from taking them? (Jessica didn't say anything nasty, I know, but the stupid animatic did). Yes I will eat my pills like Pac-Man if that's what it takes to make the happy chemicals flow.
If antidepressants don't work for anyone reading this, it's worth trying CBD oil 💕
The problem is that there are more than 100 different types of antidepressants supposedly all working the same way. Why? You literally are playing roulette - if you are lucky you find one that "works" but, the science behind this class of drug is sketchy. They haven't exactly nailed the actual biology of depression. Then there is the environmental factors. Let's be honest, we are operating with a brain that was designed for a different lifestyle than we are forced to lead. Chicken or egg?
@@BigHenFor Actually, there is a lot of science behind psychiatric drugs, and there are many distinguishing factors that lead medical professionals to prescribe different antidepressants. Just because depression and other mental illnesses may come from the mismatch between our ancient brains and modern society doesn't mean we should trivialise it. It is necessary to take it seriously and treat it properly to save millions of lives.
You can try over the counter pills that target those areas, I heard people went from prescriptions to those, in taking them myself, it’s called S-ame and there’s St. John’s as well, I heard they don’t cause weird side effects, i just started taking them, one just has to be cautious.
They all have side effects
Before antidepressants life was about “just getting through”. After taking medication I’m not a drugged out zombie, rather someone who has gotten much closer to the care-free person I was before my anxiety disorder took hold. The School of Life has been outstanding for my new capacity to enjoy life but so have the “Happy Pills” (:
this video feels rushed and does not do Jessica and her journey of self discovery much justice.
The pacing is completely off and it's difficult to pay attention.
Yeah... it's so... shallow? for such a deep subject and her usual nuanced approach to things.
But hopefully many will found the way to her channel, and get the real feeling of what she's teaching us. ;)
@@aleka.. yes, this.

I really love Jessica and the content she makes, but I was surprised and disappointed in the way this video talked about medication for mental health. It's especially disappointing since so much of Jessica's content focuses on disability advocacy.
She issued an apology on Twitter about how she disagreed with the wording and wasn't consulted on that part. She seemed sincere.
She definitely does not stigmatize mental illness in these way. It's just the whole team of editors and writers for this video who are crappy
I agree. It made me super sad to see. I wonder if she knew they were going to say that? Edit: Okay, so she did not know, that makes me feel better.

ignore the comments. youre right. medications to treat mental illness are not something id reduce to the term "happy pills". this episode revolted me.
The narrator is great! And the editing! And, most importantly, Jessica, do course! She is the reason I came here. Her aggressive happiness is really something everyone can learn from. I'm a little sad about the use of Adderall and Antidepressants as "Happy Pills" that people buy for a lot of money to cure their life and to just make them happy regardless of anything else. That simplification is misleading. Your intent was probably great and I get that you had to shorten it, but I'd still ask you to be a little more careful! Still, really great video!

Jessica. You blew my mind. Thank you for this. Big hug
So are you guys at School of Life saying antidepressants and ADHD medicine are bad?
There are all sorts of views on meds and each person will have their own view and not be persuaded by other views, however, there are many great books that discuss mental health and medication - Toxic Psychiatry and Your drug may be your problem, by Peter Breggin MD; Prozac Backlash by Joseph Glenmullen, PhD; Punishing the Patient by Richard Godsen, PhD ; Users and Abusers of Psychiatry by Lucy Johnstone; Beyond Prozac by Terry Lynch, MD; Mad in America by Robert Whitaker and Warning: Psychiatry can be hazardous to your health by William Glasser, MD

Money to live beyond basic survival really is too easily dismissed by this channel.
Yes, while money does not buy happiness, poverty is an enormous stressor.
Yep. There are studies that show that happiness levels increase until you reach 75k (usd) or so. Huh, it's almost like being able to meet basic needs and having a safety net improves your well-being or something.
Easy to be happy when you can afford to eat every day isn't it
I'm very torn... I love Jessica and wanted so badly to like this video but as an ADHD patient and as someone prescribed Adderall and antidepressants I really don't appreciate the portrayal of them in this video. No they aren't going to make you happy because first of all that's not what Adderall is prescribed for, it doesn't treat depression at all. Secondly antidepressants are treating an imbalance of chemicals in your body/brain. I am actually really put off by you even mentioning it. Jessica has had people on her channel that suffer from depression. If you need the medication you take the medication, but it doesn't cure anything. You then do the therapy, or meditation, or journaling, or counseling, whatever it takes to get your life back on track but those pills do NOT fix you. YOU FIX YOU. You guys really messed this one up. This woman has an amazing following of people that are not afraid to speak up.

Happiness is a state of mind and thus cannot be reached by the outwardly means. Only by pursuing the need for growth and self-actualisation one can have a chance to really truly become happy.
These ideas are really useful. I would add that having adequate exercise, sleep and meditation can give a sense of well-being which enhances happiness. Work, whether paid or unpaid, can give meaning to life and that can give a rich texture to life. Friendship may involve sharing deeply with another but for some people, just being in the happy company of others makes a huge difference. Learning to communicate in a respectful, interested, non-combative and caring way enriches your life hugely.

I'm so glad your showing the world this perspective and people are respecting your perspective. I think making other people happy often makes ourselves happy. That's why I often prefer other people's birthdays than my own because you get to see people do pleased with what you've given them. That also links with appreciation
Considering I’m part of the JKF Club, I’m sure this will sound biased, however; for anyone who is not familiar with Jessica, this is a 100% accurate portrayal of how she CHOOSES to live! Her perspective on life in general, her willingness to openly share her good as well as her bad days (due to her chronic & at times debilitating illnesses) has made an ENORMOUS impact on those of us fighting our own illnesses or prejudices! The biggest impact she has ever made on me is a statement she made during a Malaysian travel vlog where Jessica is describing what they had been doing the past few days. She mentions she had developed a migraine & was simply feeling "poo" (I do not possess her level of civility & would have used a word that was MUCH more crass🤦🏼♀️...also,FYI-I am paraphrasing, but I’ll link the video below)! She states; "...but the funny thing about my migraines, & actually just my chronic pain in general; it would be hurting anyway!! Whether I‘m in the apartment doing absolutely nothing, OR, I’m out & about having fun! So I decided: Let’s do that, we’re gonna go shopping"! This TOTALLY made me reevaluate how I react to my bad days, weather physical or mental! It was like a slap on the back of my head, lol. As if my brain was thinking 🧠"WHY DID’NT YOU FIGURE THIS OUT BEFORE?? DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU’VE MISSED"?! Sorry...tangent there for sec! My point is, we all deal with mental, psychological & physical issues at some point in our lives; & more often than not we are dealing with 2 or 3 types of issues at the same time! I had the same revelation with the same moment in that video! And I'm in my 60s dealing with a chronic illness of 40 years duration, yet I didn't get it, really, until Jessica said that. I am working on feeling less shame about the times I cannot overcome my symptoms, inspired by someone half my age. And I'm someone who is considered, by others, to have a good attitude. I'm no slouch in this department, but she teases out the most difficult and universal aspects of life with a chronic illness/disability and gives them a good airing so that you can see where you are still stuck, still hiding, still not living as fully as you might. She is both a comfort and an inspiration. I adore her.
I find my hapiness in being with my partner, having coffee with her in the morning, hearing the birds, having started a business I love that makes me feel useful... I completely agree on the importance of appreciation. I feel so thankful for everything I have and I want to see more of what life has to offer!
I have been waiting on this since Jessica announced! SO AMAZING. Thank you for sharing your secrets to happiness and more of yourself.
I appreciated this video. Being someone with a chronic illness, and constantly being in severe pain 24/7, it's just hard to be Happy. I have been working on the letting go. And appreciate what I have, because I could be a hell of lot worse off than I am.
I prefer the regular format.
Am so glad to see her doing so many things she thought was impossible. Her and Claudia have what we all are looking for , someone to love .
You know when the creator you worked with has already had to come out and apologize for your ableist veiws on antidepressants, antianxiety, and ADHD medications it's not good right? This video should be taken down and revised
Where did she talk about this?
@@cleodello Jessica's Twitter page on the day it happened.
„ableist“? seriously?
Im proud to be one of her subscribers... love you always
Congratulations Jessica!!!💗
I have not always been happy, but by overcoming depression (w/lexapro) I was able to work on other areas in my life and eventually overcome much to become truly happy, like listening to Jessica because she is bottled happiness! 😊
Everyone: Questioning this show
Jessica Fans: I love her so much and how her brain works she looks for the great things in life. I'm so happy she's been acknowledged in the series
Eating well and excercise is important to maintain physical health but so is taking your heart medication for example. Same thing for mental health! You should work on developing good coping mechanisms, but medication is just as important for some, it's not wrong.
Happiness to me isn't being happy, but constant learning towards fulfillment and strength to manage, endure and resolve any given situation that appears to be, what we think and feel is, insufferable or glorious.
Nah u just need god😅
I think happiness depends on what you think and how you are dealing with difficult situations, but just one good and honestly person on your side that supports you is Jackpot 💡
Yea but not always its just an illusion as some people tho money will make u happy but that is false af😅
we humans need nothing but Peace&joy money means nothing if you don’t have someone u can spend with, money never depends on happiness!! Love is the highest Energy in the universe! If u have someone you can share good &bad times u can reach every goal u want!!! And than u are rich!
amazing first episode! jessica is truly a wonderful person!
The beautiful eyes of Jessica is absolute happiness!!! Absolutely! The beautiful hair is a bonus! The great smile is a vivid dream
I love Jessica! (And what a lovely name we share) 💕
Me too😁
This video has put a big smile on my face and tears in my eyes. You are just such an adorable and amazing human being, Jessica!
I'm going to *_love this_* series!
I love how these correspond with the seven Deadly Sins.
And according to why you feel any of the following, you can coordinate them. Because we all feel things differently.
Lust~Love
Envy~Appreciation
Gluttony~Small Pleasures
Wrath~Growth
Sloth~Acceptance
Pride~Connection
Greed~Modest Aspirations
Secret to happiness... Gratitude
I see the greatest value of this video is to ask each of us (and maybe a society as a whole) what 'happiness' is to us. Our consumer society with its sophisticated advertising would have us believe it's things. The emphasis on the 'economy; and GDP would have us think it's money. But these are all 'means goals' rather than 'end goals'. End goals are things like contentment, adventure, love, security, connection, gratitude, passion, fairness, contribution, purpose in life...
Jessica 7 tips are a good start and hopefully opens a deeper self-exploration of what is truly important in your life and are you aligned with that... A great book by Erich Fromm "To Have or To Be" from the 1970s explores this further...

this is amazing. youtube originals is doing it right
I feel like this is click bate for middle class and up peoples. Jessica is amazing and she literally lives constant hells that I deeply relate to in my own chronic illness, but she’s infinitely better at checking her privilege on her own channel. I literally have had no time or space to build an awareness of these things she listed for happiness here in the states, while my illness and lack of family support drove me to homelessness. Then I was blessed with a partner that lifted me up out of all of that and literally paid for me to exist, heal, and improve in a warm apartment with food and water. So many people don’t have or will never see even the meager stability I’ve achieved without a societal structure that provides economic stability for everyone. That right there is a key to happiness that requires cooperation between societies and their gov’t.
Yes, absolutely agree. Jessica is, as you say, infinitely better at checking her privilege on her own channel. She was diminished here, I think.
The goal of life isn't to be happy. The reality is life is a mix of emotions and if you constantly strive for one, you're chasing the dragon.

Love this, would be great if Jessica could make more videos going in detail on her philosophy of life on her channel- she is so inspirational, I want more 😂 ♥
You should go & follow her channel @Jessica Kellgren-Fozard , because her "philosophy of life" transcends all her posting - wether she is talking about her disabilities, about being gay, about her religion, about vintage fashion, doing a hair-tutorial, a travel vlog, a movie-review ...! ❤😊 And there are many videos that deal with toppics from that realm directly! Just take a look through her videos! 👍😃
Jessica is even more engaging, irreverent, adorable, profound, and inspirational on her own channel than she appears here. @Jessica Kellgren-Fozard.
@@bellisperennis42 yes, I've Ben following her for ages, I just would love to see her discuss philosophy - she's amazing ☺
@@ellahopkinson She is amazing, isn't she. I'm sure she would be happy to discuss philosophy. I hope you suggest it on her channel :0)
i’m so glad i spent 9.99 to watch this series
The problem of the pursuit of happiness starts when the fridge is full.
So your source of happines come from food seems legit😅
@@lovepeaceisneverguaranteed7385
Ask a child who's starving what's happiness. See if he says a plane or a purse or a phone. He'll probably say a sandwich. Until your belly isn't full you can't think of bullshit to possess to be happy.
Thank you, gracias, grazie, mahalo, spasibo, dankeschön, merci, etc. You can tell that Jessica is truly happy- check out that smile. Very good guidance, IMHO. I might add one thing- watch what you eat and your immediate environment, to include those people you allow close.

All the things those people said and that's what you latch onto.
More money and a nicer car is a legit answer.
Baby guuuuurl just came through with, "a CHANEL Bag."
Da fuq.
Get your priorities in sequential order .
It’s so sad that generations are becoming less & less desensitized to what TRULY makes you happy!! If they would stop watching shows about finding a soulmate in days, in becoming famous (even if it’s because they made a fool of themselves...they still received attention 🤷🏼♀️, being glued to their phones all day!! If only they would look around, do something to help someone, interact with humans vs. electronics, smile for Pete’s Sake! I hear you, mo money, ABSOLUTELY mo problems!! 💜🦋
I heard worse than that. In one interview, a guy once said, a lot of money, cocaine, and a bunch of hookers! Yeah, you get the depth of personality by this answer!
I'm happy I wasn't the only one to cringe at that, you give me hope!

It breaks my heart that so many humans are legit under the impression that if they had a "chanel bag" or a "nicer car" they would be happy. Once you have actually had these things its so obvious that they don't. It just makes me sad that society is this fucked up.
I like your list. I think acceptance is the most important on the list. The one thing I would add is gratitude. Been grateful if only for being alive creates the feelings of happiness.
Wow after so many conversations of aiming to live virtuous, connected lives I am shocked to hear so many people answer that question with “money”
I suspect the question was leading, the chosen answers were cherry-picked, or not enough people were surveyed.
How to be happy
1. Find a job you enjoy with people you enjoy working with that gives enough money to live comfortably and then live within your means.
2. Be healthy, you can't be happy if you're always getting sick and in pain
3. Have at least one good friend, and don't take more than you give.
4. Be a good, son, father, husband, brother, and most importantly be good to yourself, your opinion of yourself is what matters most, if you don't like yourself there ain't no way known you'll ever be happy.
5. Have realistic expectations, don't compare your life to fiction. if you approve of yourself you'll never seek approval from others.
6. Learn to stand on your own two feet. Don't go from one relationship to another, take time alone to work out what you did right and wrong. And remember money and relationships don't solve problems if you don't like yourself, they'll only make matters worse.
Congrats Jessica!! I'm so happy to see you here:)
I love this woman I wish I had her in my life I’m going through a lot and watching her makes me happy to someone less fortunate more happy than me. And it makes me realize that anyone can be happy if we Appreciate the small things before we appreciate the bigger things and except who we are.
I've found I'm happiest when I don't expect sh*t from anyone.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Jessica you slayed!!!! Superb. Basically principles you can APPLY to your life will increase happiness. Not material things.
For me it's finding lots of time to really enjoy the things i like to do very much
Jessica is an utter joy and this film does NOT do her justice!! I mean, number 1. what’s going on with the sound? The voiceover is a whisper & the music is very loud. Filmmaking 101 - check your levels. Also: ‘Happy Pills’ - you patronising numpties! Anxiety & depression is not ‘feeling sad’ - it is not a choice - do not confuse the two & perpetuate the idea that you ‘just need to pull yourself together’. Rant over. (Soz Jessica! You’re a goddess!!)
Thank you for your happiness list, Jessica. I shall make my own and write it in lipstick on my mirror in your honor!
I never knew a smile could feel so dystopian.
I feel like 6 minutes is nowhere near enough time to make a video on the secret to happiness but ok
Life is not about happiness. It's a flux of pain and pleasure. You cannot have one without the other.
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well."
She is so utterly gorgeous it is surreal.
