I would have the motor back as far as possible. Your trying to make everything fit to the driveshaft. Make the motor and tranny where is should be and then deal with the driveshaft. Just my thoughts about it
You’ll have to take the rug out to get the plate out you’ll should find a ranger that had a standard in it it will have the right hole for the shifter swapped out a automatic for a standard in a 92 explorer you need the standard cover works better than trying to cut the right hole. I’m doing a 351W swap in a 97 4x4 useing deferent motor mounts have the motor an trans where they are supposed to be an the drive shafts fit had to do some massaging of the firewall to make it fit better Windsor is wider than a 302.
The hole ended up being darn near perfect, however since I have to pull the panel anyway to get the transmission in-place I will grab one from the local junk yard
