Another tip: press share and the ps on the controller until the light flashes. Then go to bluetooth devices and there you should see your other controller. Use your second controller to register the controller and boom. Hope this helps

Another way you can do it is if your controller was originally connected and you just connected it to a different ps4 there is a hole in the back. Get a tooth pick and put it into the hole then turn on the PS4.

If the cable method is not working even after resetting everything, you might be using a charge-only cable. Try finding a charge & sync (data transfer) cable so it can communicate with the PS4. I had the same issue with my first cable it was not allowing the remote and PS4 to talk to each other, thankfully I had a different usb cable to try and it worked for me!

@@braydenivory3006 I don’t think they look different because you’d still use a Micro USB cable, just try different types of Micro USB cables because some do not have the capability to sync data. Or you can buy one that specifically states it can be used for sync/data transfer.

If your having this problem
Get a second ps4 controller (or use remote play if you only have one contoller) and go to settings - bluetooth devices - press options on your controller and remove it - then grab your controller and hold the ps button and share button until it starts flashing - you should find your controller in bluetooth devices and select it

Edit:I found out the actual reason this is happening but my method to fix it is a cheaper alternative: the reason it wont connect is because you need a wire that supports syncing meaning if you dont have the official one, that’s probably why it didnt work

I had to forget every dual shock except the one that was still connected and I knew was working, then did the PS button and select button at the same time on the other controller and was able to connect to it with Bluetooth. Hope this help

Just got a new ps4 controller off Mercari because I like ps4 controllers over ps5 controllers. 2 of my controllers have connected to my ps2 console. My ps2 compatibility is only up to 4 controllers. I’ll look into getting another controller along with another cable. If the other controller works I’ll just have to bring this one to the shop. It’s in like new condition, the buttons are all fine and even the light comes on while holding the home button and charging

The cable isn’t always the problem. This happened to me. I took my controller to a friends house and tried connecting to her system and it connected right away. It turns out it’s my PlayStation. I’m in the process of cleaning it as a refurbish and if that doesn’t work, I have already backed it up so I will be trying to do a factory reset and hopefully that works. If it doesn’t, I’m afraid I’m screwed.
