That was because Paul was killed in 1966, in a horrible accident. They brought in a look alike who was 2 inches taller, and had to have some plastic surgery done on him. That is one reason the whole group grew beards and mustaches, to hide the scars. They were forced to accept this fake Paul, because they thought that had the world been informed of his death, that it might cause a huge rash of suicides by young girls everywhere, so the group was forced to go on. John Lennon tried to insert clues throughout his songs and covers for the rest of their time together, before breaking up. You can google this information for yourself. Whether it is true or not, it makes some sense as to the songs that were written after 1967. I just heard this information for the first time, this year, but had heard of the rumors long ago.

They are simply the greatest musical band of all time and the variety of what they did with their music is astounding! I won't recommend a particular song at this point, as they have so many great ones, but I will suggest, that if you can, you will enjoy the musical experience more by starting with their early songs from 1963 and 1964 and work your way up to 1970. That way you can experience their phenomenal growth as we did growing up listening to them. Best wishes to both of you!!!

John Lennon's (the lead singer in this song) sense of humor in the intro seems funning and charming, but actually, they were getting burned out from touring, and he was especially frustrated that he could not hear himself or bandmates over all the constant screaming of their fans. In those days, they didn't have monitor speakers facing them or earbuds so that they can hear what they were doing. The next year, 1966, they retired from touring and focused entirely on studio production.

The Beatles are the greatest group of all time. "Half a century after their breakup, The Beatles are still the biggest rock band of 2020, shifting 1.094 million album-equivalent units through the first six months of the year, 326,000 units ahead of the genre’s second-place finisher, Queen. The Fab Four also had the fifth-bestselling vinyl album of the year, selling 54,000 copies of their 1969 opus Abbey Road. They had good company in the vinyl category, including fellow classic rock icons Queen and Pink Floyd, pop supernova Billie Eilish and retro-rock heartthrob Harry Styles. The Beatles also perform exceptionally well on streaming services, with many songs racking up hundreds of millions of plays." -Forbes

@@Alexander-tj2dn However it is not about what you would like, I was thinking about what they would like, a song about Paul McCartney's mom Mary, who had died, coming to him in a dream when he was at one of his lowest points... I think they would like it. But too each their own.

Listen to the song on CD, in this appearance, unfortunately John mess up some of his lyrics so you are hearing the first twice. Great song, one of my favorites. Loved John’s songs.

BTW, just before John starts singing, he introduces the song in a mock Lancashire accent. BTW, again, you youngsters have got no idea how exciting this sounded back in the day, and I saw The Beatles live a number of times ( I'm very old! )

i'm listening to "tales of freyja" as i'm writing this. really enjoying it too.
"help" the 1965 song, movie and album marked the height of beatlemania. through 1966, as "beatlemania" began to wane, the beatles talent for songwriting, technical innovation and artistic creativity GREW! during this period the beatles transformed from a global "mop-top" pop-sensation into serious, thoughtful and thought-provoking social commentators.
but they never lost their playful, and fun attributes that made them so cool in the first place. from 1966 to 1970 the beatles grew up and we grew up with them. the beatles were MORE than the sum of their parts. they were a very unique and distinct phenomena.
all i can say is, i'm so glad i could a exist in a universe where something like the beatles could exist.
thanks for the video and really liked "tales of freyja!"

This was probably the most versatile and biggest pop group ever. At one time in the US charts, they held no.1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and (I think) 8 at the same time! Their range and progression was huge.

I find it so gratifying watching young people discover all this great music for themselves. This is an especially great clip for its capturing John Lennon's irreverent, playful side, as well as the superb quality of the performance and live sound they'd no longer believe they could deliver as their music became more complex, experimental and reliant on additional instruments beyond the basic lineup.
My mum grew up in Darjeeling, my dad in Calcutta, began raising a family in England, and I watched the Beatles burst onto the scene from Crawley, Sussex, and when I saw them play 'Twist and Shout', with John again on lead vocal, in late '63, at age 7, it finally cemented my desire to do THAT with my life, after having sung on the sidewalk outside our suburban home with a toy steam shovel standing in for a guitar, since at least age 3.
Suggestions? 'I'm A Loser', 'Rock 'n' Roll Music', 'A Hard Day's Night', the title song from their first movie, where 'Help' was from their second film, 'This Boy', 'Strawberry Fields Forever', by Paul McCartney, 'Michelle', 'Yesterday', 'Eleanor Rigby', 'Penny Lane', 'Hey Jude', John again, 'I Am The Walrus' 'Revolution', then, by George Harrison, 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps', 'Something', 'Taxman', John's 'And Your Bird Can Sing', 'Norwegian Wood', 'Tomorrow Never Knows', 'I Dig A Pony', Paul's 'Get Back', 'Oh Darling', John's 'Don't Let Me Down', 'Come Together', and some (drummer) Ringo Starr singing, 'Act Naturally', 'Don't Pass Me By', and 'Octopus's Garden'.
Cheers, enjoy your journey, all the best! ✌😘🎶💞🎸🚀
