I was told in Discord that the smoothest way you can use a PSX SNAC without the memory card ports like these, is to use the virtual memory card in port 2. Most games support using port 2 memory card, but IIRC some do not. Fun video! Thanks as always for informing the masses, amigo. 👍 EDIT 2023-02-13: Test build just went up today that adds virtual memory card support while using SNAC/SNAX! Been testing it all day today and it seems to be working great! No more wonky workarounds.
I just bought a multitap, but I'll try your suggestion as well. Perhaps the dev (Robert Peip) could add a "Real or Virtual memcard on SNAC" toggle option in the PSX core menu, if that's even possible.

I didn’t realise when I put the video together but you can also assign a memory card to the P2 spot if you only have one controller connected. That might be easier in most cases.

Great Video. I've been thinking about trying a SNAC adapter with my MiSTer and comparing that with the Daemonbite dual DB9/Sega Adapter that I put together. Lately my favourite snack I've been into is Fig Newtons with Vanilla Greek Yogurt.

Ooh yes thank you! I actually just discovered this last week when I made the Batocera video with Sinden as the core they were using only supported GunCon. It was a minor hassle finding suitable rips, but seemed to work well with Die Hard Trilogy I tested.

I got my PSX snac adapter yesterday but I can not get it to work (snes and md snacs do work). WTH am I doing wrong? I think it’s got to do with mc setup. I don’t have a psx mc
I’m not sure. It might sound obvious but just make sure you’re plugging it directly into the MiSTer and not the normal SNAC dongle. Aside from that you might be better served by asking on the discord.
Haven't yet tried a SNAC adapter with the MiSTer, but my favourite SNACK would have to be pickle flavoured potato chips. Maybe that's a Canadian thing though.

As far as I know the GunCon will only work with 15KHz consumer TVs
