Mealy bug and aphid infestation can disfigure and distort your succulents’ perfect form, 😅 that’s why I’m sharing these tips. I had them in the past and it wasn’t fun dealing with them. I’m just so happy and relieved that it’s a thing of the past now. ☝️🤓 So, enjoy watching and remember to share it with your succulent enthusiast friends. ❤️☺️🌈 Thank you so much for watching! I know I keep saying this, but I really do truly appreciate it. 🙏🙏🙏

Hi. I'm in southern California where it does get pretty warm. I stated I've never had a bug problem but after watching your video and learning what to look for, upon close inspection of my succulents I found a small patch of white powdery substance on one. I cleaned it off with alcohol and all is well. Thank you! Also, while at Lowe's today picking up some succulent nutrient, i found quite a few fallen leaves under the succulent table. One even had a little pup growing on it already. I'm going to try to propagate them. Love your videos, bye!
Hi, Brady! I’m so glad you caught that infestation at a very early stage. That’s the best preventive. I think picking them up is a good idea ‘cause they would just sweep those fallen leaves out and would end up in the trash to die, so it’s pretty much saving them. You got yourself some instant propagations. See how they would sprout even without misting? 😁 Thank you for sharing this little story with us. I really appreciate it. More and more blessings to you! ❤️🙏🌈

I have a plague of aphids and cottony mealybugs, please as I apply all seasons, I live in Florida and we are in summer how can I save them the plague is very strong and apply another product and burn them, I would appreciate the step by step please
Hi Mile, I suggest that you don’t treat them with anything in the summer other than spraying 70% alcohol. Still, with this method, you succulents can suffer sun burn, so keep them protected from the summer sun. Huge apologies for the late response. 😅 I’ve been so busy. I’m sloooooowly trying to catch up on responding to comments and inquiries. I can’t believe I’m 1 year behind now. 😔😅 Thank you so much for the inquiry and for your patience. I really appreciate it. Hi! I love your videos they teach me a lot and I’ve purchased a lot of succulents lately. I believe one of the succulent plants I purchased brought in a fungus nat infestation. I was wondering if you can give advice on how to kill them off before it gets out of hand. I’m worried about the larvae that will stay in the soil and kill the roots, and not so much the annoying flies. Any tips? I see that boiling the soil or putting it in the oven will kill off any pesky larvae. What do you think? Thank you!
Hello Reta, I would still recommend the All Seasons Horticultural Spray Oil that I shared in this video. But be careful not to use it when temperatures are high. I’m just not comfortable heating soil in my microwave oven that’s why I don’t recommend it. Heating the soil could work, but it’s not a guarantee that it can ward off future infestation. Thank you so much for asking you question and my apologies for the late response. I was busy preparing for my family’s 4th of July week trip. I really appreciate your patience. Blessings to you! ❤️☺️🌈
Thank you for your insight, generosity in sharing your knowledge and replying back when you are so busy. Have a blessed happy 4th of July with your family. Stay beautiful inside and out the world needs more kind people with your heart ❤️
Great video and a lovely message! Also I love your succulent collection! I'm a beginner and mine got infected with mealy bugs. I freaked out and plucked off all the leaves from the mother plant😢 Is it possible to grow new succulents from leaves plucked from an infected echeveria?
Hello! Yes, I do think it is possible to propagate echeveria leaves even if they had mealy bugs. Spray the mealy bugs with alcohol. It kills them and them rinse of the alcohol from the leaves and dry them with paper towel. You can put the leaves in an uncovered box or soil and they will propagate. Thank you so much for the comment! Wishing you the greatest of health, the biggest of blessings and the purest of love! ❤️💰🏆

Hello Jashuan, I honestly can’t remember. As I’ve mentioned in my other videos, I’m pretty bad at identifying them. Thank you for the comment. I guess, summers where you’re at are not as warm. These bugs love it warm. 😅Thank you for staying for the message. I know I keep saying it, but I truly appreciate your comments! As always, more blessings to you! I don’t really mind sending and wishing people blessings over and over again! ❤️🙏🌈
Hi Sheila, I'm a new fan on your channel. I love this positive message in your video and all the great tip for planting succulents. I'm also a beginner for succulent. I bought the Horticultural spray oil you recommend here. But I'm not sure if I did it right. I used 2.5 tea spoon of oil mix with 1 gallon of water. And I spray it on my succulent at night time? Do I use the correct amount? How often do I need to put on my plant for keeping it away from the mealybug and spider? Hope to get some great answer from you! Thanks!
Hello Hebe, did it work for you? I stopped using it. I just stuck to being on top of my watering in the summer. I’m just too scared of the long term effect of using it. Thank you for the comment! My apologies for the late reply. 😅I have just started responding to the rest of the comments again. I’ve been so busy. I think I may have found a way to start making videos again. 🤞So, we’ll see! 😊Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
Thanks for this video. I've only been collecting succulents for about a year and a half, I mostly focus on the mesembs/lithoo family but my collection of other succulents keeps growing...these are my babies. I had a white fly infestation on my favorite aeonium (did I spell that correctly?) Neem oil seemed to help, but I need something more for when the mealies return.
I have stuck to using 70% alcohol just ‘cause it’s always available and I feel like it’s safer. The bugs seem to only come in the summer now, ‘cause I have made sone changes to my collection. I will create a video on what I did real soon. Thank you for the comment. My apologies for the late reply. 😅I have just started responding to all of comments again. I’ve been so busy. I think I found a way to start making videos again. 🤞So, we’ll see! 😊Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
I am having my very first mealy bug problem. I have not seen an infestation but I have found the random bug on a few of y plants. I have isolated and been treating with alcohol, dawn soap, and water to kill but even though I think I am making headway, I check my string of turtles and boom, there they are while this plant is alone in my bathroom. How can I take care of this? I have sprinkled a systemic killer on the soil of my plants that both have them and that have not shown any yet but it is destroying my burros tail succulent. I chopped and propigated the entire plant and I an scared to death. Can you please tell me how I can protect against them from spreading to my healthy plants?
Hello Megan, for some reason those bugs are only attracted to some succulents and not all. So I don’t think you’ll end up with a full blown infestation. I’ve had some on some of my succulents and it seems like it happens to the same ones yearly when the weather is super dry. Those bugs hate water so try to water more often in the summer, but please also consider not to overwater. 70% alcohol breaks their barrier. Water can’t seem to do so. So spraying with alcohol would tear down their barrier, then maybe be follow up with water. I can’t guarantee that it will work 100% with preventing infestation, but it helps me a lot. Of course, I’m no expert in this matter, but I do share what works for me. I stopped using bug killers ‘cause I’m scared that it might not be 100% safe, but then of course, I wouldn’t really know whether it is or not with short term use. So to be on the safer side, I just use alcohol. I hope this helps. And lastly, as I’ve mentioned earlier, I think they won’t affect all of your succulents. I’m not sure why they go for the same succulents every year. 😅 Thank you for the comment. I have just started responding to all of them. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
Hello Abi, it looks totally different. They appear like white clumps and the leaves will show abnormal shapes. That’s when you’ll know your succulents really need it. Thank you for the question. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
I’ve never really experienced any issues with it. I just make sure that I do it late in the afternoon to avoid the risk of sun damage. Thank you for the comment. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
Hello, please spray the alcohol directly at the clumps of white where the mealy bugs are. Thank you for the question. My apologies for the late response. I’ve been so busy. 😅 Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
It seems like it. In fact, there are lady bugs that can be bought online so they can feed on plant pests. Huge apologies for the late response. Thank you so much for the comment! Wishing you the greatest of health, the biggest of blessings and the purest of love! ❤️💰
Yes, more often than not, it sprouts a new baby or a new branch. In fact, that’s how you make them look thicker, too. Thank you for asking this question. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈
I've noticed some succulents with leaves that have been bitten off; what kind of insect pests would cause this damage and what can I do to remedy the problem? Any preventive measures too?
Hi Jen, I found a tiny catterpillar or some kind of worm on mine. I sprayed it with alcohol and it died. It didn’t feel good having to do that but it was a choice between my succulent or the bug. I only had one and never found another again. Huge apologies for the late response. I’ve been incredibly busy. I’m really hoping to find time to make more videos soon. I’m looking to buy a new laptop ‘cause I’m not able to use my current one for editing. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’m also sloooooowly trying to catch up on responding to comments. I’m about a month or so behind right now. 😔😅Thank you so much for leaving a message. I really appreciate it. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫

Hi Milen, here's what I found on the web: "The excess oil evaporates and dissipates quickly, so there is no toxic residue, and horticultural oil is considered safe to use around humans and pets." I still would suggest reading the fine prints on the bottle when you go pick it up at Lowe's or HD, or maybe check all the details on the description (or maybe even reach out to the vendor), if you're purchasing online. Thank you so much for the inquiry. I really appreciate it. Huge apologies for the very late response. Wishing you love, blessings, health and happiness! ❤️🙏💫
Hi Succulent Fame! I have a little question about my purple echeveria, because I learned a lot from your "how to propagate succulents part 1 & 2" but i'm not sure what to do. After watching part 1, I cut the top of my purple echeveria because it was elongating, and i put it in moist soil. But after 3/4 days i watched your part 2 video and you said you shouldn't put it in wet/moist soil. So I looked at my echeveria and it is indeed not growing roots yet, but the tip is a little dry (i'm not sure if it is fully callused). Do you maybe know what I should do? should I put it out the moist soil and let it fully callus or should i let it in, or something else maybe? I hope you know the answer. keep up the awesome videos! :D
Hi!!! I'm so sorry that I missed your comment! I'm not sure how I missed seeing this. my apologies for the very late response. I try to respond to all the comments. I dont know what happened to this one. Is it still alive? I hope it is! I normally tell people to postpone watering after planting. Thank you so much for your patience. I really appreciate it! More blessings to you! ❤🙏🌈
Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. Great video! I just started getting involved with succulents so I’m trying to learn all about them. My question is about soil. What brands of soil do you use for your succulents? I’m using potting cactus soil by miracle grow BUT it doesn’t seem to dry quick enough. Maybe it takes a month for the dirt to dry out...? I’m afraid there’s going to be root rot. Help! 🤓
Hi Amie Lynn, I have used Miracle Gro and other brands, too. It’s a good brand. You’ll be surprised at how many brands and textures of soil out there. What matters most is that you don’t water until the soil is completely dry. So, please space out your watering interval. I’m concerned about your statement that it takes a month for the dirt to dry out. How often do you water then? How’s the temperature out there? In the entire winter months, which is roughly about 3 months, I only get to water once. In the summer, I think I only water around 3 to 4 times A MONTH. I’ll wait for your response. Thank you so much for asking your questions. I really appreciate it. Blessings to you! ❤️☺️🌈
Succulent Fame Hi, thanks for responding. I just moved to south Florida last year. So there lots of heat, humidity, sun and rain, so I really don’t water them in the summer due to it raining a little every day. The succulents I have are planted in the miracle grow cactus soil plus they are in pots and they sit outside in my lanai area but when it rains too much I have to move them under shelter but then they don’t get enough sun. How long should it take for the soil to dry? Not sure what to do with them. 🤔 Should I Repot them and add extra Perlite or Coco coir? Or something else? How often can you repot succulents?
I would say wait it out, but don’t leave them out in the rain if the soil is already wet. If they look like they are drinking too much though, (leaves starting to look heavy; don’t wait for the leaves to start looking soggy & translucent) I suggest that you dig them out and expose the soil around the root area. Try to remove as much of the wet soil. You shouldn’t repot your succulents too often, but if it is to save it from drinking too much (they will try to absorb water as long as it is available) I really would suggest digging it out to remove as much wet soil as you can and as I’ve mentioned, allow the root to air dry (probably at least one day if it’s hot out there and not exposed to the sun at all). Then replant them in dry soil. I hope they’ll pull through. Early detection is key, so you are on the right track by asking this soon. Thanks again, Amie Lynn. ❤️😃
Hi, Qualine! I’ve used 70% alcohol on mine. It works, too. It also seems to not do any damage to it, but avoid using it very often. There is one that didn’t like alcohol. If I remember it right, it was the Woolly Rose that didn’t like it. Don’t quote me on this though, ‘cause I’m not 100% sure that it was the Woolly Rose that didnt like it. I’m about a month behind right now. 😔😅Thank you so much for leaving an inquiry. I really appreciate it. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
I just found aphids on my sod. I was wondering why the tips were brown but not dry and I'm guessing it was those aphids. Found the green bastards and sprayed them with soap water
Was the soap water able to penetrate their cottony cover? I haven’t tried soapy water. I find that 70% alcohol is the only compound that can penetrate their protective layer. Thank you for the comment. My apologies for the late reply. 😅I have just started responding to all of comments again. I’ve been so busy. I think I found a way to start making videos again. 🤞So, we’ll see! 😊Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
You can plant it immediately, but wait about one to two weeks before watering it if the weather is hot. Thank you for asking your question. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈
Hello! I watched thousands of videos about succulents...and now I’m confused. I have put my cut in water so it grows roots. I need to wait so the roots will be strong. So...when I will be potting them, should I water them? Excuse me for my English. Please help me😊
No problem at all! I always suggest not to water for 7 to 14 days after planting succulents in soil. They don’t need to drink immediately. Thank you so much for asking. I really appreciate it. More blessings to you! ❤️🙏🌈
Hi Martha, I use 70% full strength. If what’s available is 90%, I dilute it with water. I also would spray it late (like late afternoon or before dusk). Thank you for asking that question. I really appreciate it. ❤️😃🌈
Hi! Yes, that could happen. It’s a bit of a trade off if you have some bad infestation. The upside is that newer and more perfect leaves will grow and as long as the mealy bugs are at bay. I hope your succulents are all better now. Huge apologies for the late response. 😅 I’m sloooooowly trying to catch up on responding to comments and inquiries. I can’t believe I’m 6 months behind now. 😔😅 Thank you so much for the comment. I really appreciate it. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
The succulent variety in the opening of this video never survive for me like my other varieties when cut. They get spotty and dry out. It seems like they need extra attention or environments
Thank you, Pete! Huge apologies for the late response. 😅 I’ve been so busy. I’m sloooooowly trying to catch up on responding to comments and inquiries. Great video, the best I’ve seen so far and I’ve seen a lot! I can’t tell what pests I have, actually I think I have a couple different kinds. What about need oil?
Hi Corrine, are you referring to neem oil? Some say neem oil works, too. Thank you so much for the inquiry. I really appreciate it. Huge apologies for the very late response. Wishing you love, blessings, health and happiness! ❤️🙏💫
Sheila, thank you for sharing your tips. I have been using 70% alcohol straight from the bottle without any dilution in my battles with aphids and mealy bugs. I may have to use the Horticultural & Dormant Spray Oil in addition to the alcohol if I am losing the war against them.
Alcohol should do the trick. 70% is perfect. Alcohol will not prevent them, but it does a great job of killing them. Spray oil works both ways, preventive and pesticide. As long as you’re on top of early detection, you’re good with alcohol. You’re doing an awesome job! Thank you for sharing! I really appreciate it! ❤️☺️🌈
Sheila, one piece of information I forgot to mention is that when applying alcohol and perhaps any type of horticultural oil on your succulents, you should not apply it when the sun is shining on the leaves. Before the alcohol or oil has had a opportunity to dry, the sun may cause the leaves to burn even on cool days. Keep up the great work. I really like your videos.
You’re welcome and thank you! Honestly, I think I should be the one thanking you for watching til the end of my video. My wish is to be able to inspire as many people as I can and so, thank you a million times for watching and commenting on my videos. I can never express how thankful I am.
I freaked out and plucked off all the leaves from the mother plant😢
Is it possible to grow new succulents from leaves plucked from an infected echeveria?

How would I know if my succulent needs it because I have one that is supposed to be white and a bit fluffy
Hello Abi, it looks totally different. They appear like white clumps and the leaves will show abnormal shapes. That’s when you’ll know your succulents really need it. Thank you for the question. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
Will the alcohol shock the succulents?
I’ve never really experienced any issues with it. I just make sure that I do it late in the afternoon to avoid the risk of sun damage. Thank you for the comment. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
i use hydrogen peroxide 35% 60ml + water 1liter
Great idea! I haven’t tried hydrogen peroxide. I’m glad it works. Thank you for sharing that info. I’m sure everyone appreciates all solutions. ❤️☺️🌈
Will they get Rid of the bugs or kill them? Will I still see them on the sleeves?
Where do I spray the rubbing alcohol? I didn’t quite understand that part, HELP!😩🙏 my succulents are rapidly deteriorating by the day!:(
Hello, please spray the alcohol directly at the clumps of white where the mealy bugs are. Thank you for the question. My apologies for the late response. I’ve been so busy. 😅 Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫

Succulent Fame I have a question for my jade plant succulent. The area where you pluck the leaf from the stem will it grow another baby suculent?

Hi ! Is the All Seasons spray oil pet/dog safe ?
Should I Repot them and add extra Perlite or Coco coir?
Is it ok to use 70% ethyl alcohol to spray on succulents?
Hi, Qualine! I’ve used 70% alcohol on mine. It works, too. It also seems to not do any damage to it, but avoid using it very often. There is one that didn’t like alcohol. If I remember it right, it was the Woolly Rose that didn’t like it. Don’t quote me on this though, ‘cause I’m not 100% sure that it was the Woolly Rose that didnt like it.
I’ve been so busy. what to do next after receiving a parcel that is uprooted. do i plant it instantly?
Thank you very much, succulent queen!🙂
You're welcome, Arthur! 😊 Thanks again!
You said in your video that you can use alcohol. Do you use it full strength or diluted and how often?
Hi Martha, I use 70% full strength. If what’s available is 90%, I dilute it with water. I also would spray it late (like late afternoon or before dusk). Thank you for asking that question. I really appreciate it. ❤️😃🌈
Thank you for answering my question.
You’re welcome, Martha! And thank you so much again! ❤️😃
I applied horticulture oil on my succulent but they destroyed the farina. :(
Thank you for sharing. I’m sure everyone appreciates these info. ❤️😃
