- In this video we explore Uwharrie National Forest OHV trails in a stock Subaru Crosstrek before attempting Daniel in my Jeep JKUR. It was an awesome and challenging day that resulted in a newfound respect for the capabilities of both vehicles.

I’m just looking for Bigfoot in the background 😂
Nice man! Been there a bunch of times with our SxS. Did Wolf Den in our last Raptor. Wish those trails were a tad wider and I’d consider taking our Raptor there some more. Jeeps really shine there. Seen lots of Jeeps take those rocks like they’re nothing. Thanks for sharing!
I remember one time there I watched a SxS just tumble nose over ass down the trail. We ran over to see if they were ok but the father and son were just laughing. We uprighted them and they got back to crawling, awesome times!
We will be there this weekend for awdfest and the mtnroo group
Great filming Cudos to the camera person
Thanks for the great video. Can my stock Outback do the Wolf den, slab pile & saw mill safely??
It looks like you have a stock height (I'm guessing) '14 Rubicon X since it looks like a Hard Rock Package but doesnt say Hard Rock on the hood. Looks like you are running 285/70/17 if so? Reason I'm asking is I have a bone stock JKUR Recon which is basically the same other than the tires and I'm trying to gauge if I feel comfortable tackling Daniel or not as it sits. If you are all stock underneath, I probably can make it work. If you have a small lift, I'll probably wait until I get my lift/wheel/tires/armor in a few years. Thanks!
Can you give me an address to this location? Also, can a stock height tundra ride through these trails? I don’t need to go to any crazy extreme ones.
Oh man, Daniel was my fav trail to climb. Had a near stock Rubi other than 35’s and managed it pretty well. Obviously you can’t attack everything head on but if you take your time and are smart about it you keep shouldn’t have an issue in my opinion. I’m in Florida now and sadly we are lacking in the rock crawling arena.
Hi love your videos one question it’ll be any scenic view at the end of the trails or during the drive ? Thanks in advance 😊
Thanks! The only scenic view at URE is at the top of Daniel. It’s a pretty popular hangout spot. If you don’t want to hit the switchbacks and ledges on Daniel, it’s pretty easy to get to the scenic spot if you ride the trail backwards. There’s one Little Rock garden, but it’s not bad.
@@TarheelOverland thanks appreciate your reply 😊
Just bought a Colorado 4x4 and want to get out there to try. Was getting one that already had AT tires, but that truck sold the day before I got there and ended up with all seasons. If it were dry, do you think I could do the easy trails?
I think you could do the east trails if it’s dry. I wouldn’t attempt it wet with street tires.
@@TarheelOverland Cool! I'm going to take my truck to my family's farm up in SW VA and try it out where my dad could use his F250 or tractor to pull me out if I get in trouble first. I don't want to be the guy who gets stuck his first time out😂
Been on the trails 2x with a Willys stock. Was cake walk, we are going to try a bit harder next run and see how the Willys does- have fun Y'all
Can you make a detailed video on easy trails in Uwharrie?
Hi Brijesh! What would you like to learn or see from the easy trails? Do you want to see the entire trail(s) from end to end or just highlight the top rocky sections or obstacles? Let me know what you have in mind!
@@TarheelOverland Thanks for your reply! I am more interested in end-to-end. The reason is it will help me see the whole route and I can follow the same path/route during my trip.. I recently bought a Jeep and I am new to off-roading. BTW what loop/trials you will suggest for a first-timer doing offroading in Uwharrie?
Welcome to the addiction!
Long answer to your question: I suggest starting on Wolf Den, which starts and ends on the gravel road. For a longer loop, Start on Wolf Den, turn onto Saw Mill and continue on to Slab Pile. Continue on to Rocky Mtn Loop and you’ll end up back to a gravel road. After this route, if you’re interested in a little more challenge, head over to Falls Dam. Falls Dam has a short rocky section and a short off-camber section that will challenge you to choose your line through.
Thanks for the info. Subbed 👌🏾
Is your JK stock? If not, what size tires are you running?
Hey man i just moved to this area, is this a good place to ride dirt bikes? im about an hour from here.
Some people ride dirt bikes at Uwharrie, but you might run into some slower traffic (Jeeps and ATVs). Your bike will have to be tagged to ride it on the dirt roads.
@@TarheelOverland awesome! i got a plate on my bike so im good for anything. just looking for places to ride around here!
Buscoe Beach in Goldsboro or Brushy Mountain would be my advice for dirt bike riding.
@@chrispowell6673 those look like rental places. I have a bike
I've ridden/camped in Uwharrie several times on a 4wheeler with some guys on dirt bikes and we had fun. The traffic on the weekends is kinda bad. Busco Beach is fun if they are not having an event with 2000+ people. Lots of open areas, wooded trails, mx track and camping. The only thing they rent is camper spots.
What is the best way to contact you?
