Man I need to buy me one of these. I still have my movie posters from when I worked at the movies. And having one of these would be great to have. Cuz I really need to put my Lord or War, all jackass movie posters and the first transformers. I have others but those are my favorites that I own. Original theater posters. 😊
It's a must for poster collectors. I only collect signed artwork posters. I have 20 of them but can't display it all at once. This portfolio is perfect for storage.
I need a few! This is awesome. I have a whole 80-90's collection of Marvel posters probably 300+ different lol. Knew a guy who printed them for Marvel in Philadelphia.
I didn't even know this existed. All of my posters are in tubes. I have a lot of banners(Toy Story and Rug Rats + many others), too, as well as a bus sheet(Phantom Menace, never hung, Darth's shadow version). I also have tons of pins, magnets, and trailers. I definitely need to pick one of these up!
Thanks for showcasing that. I was looking for something for my posters. Stopped collecting once I left the theater but kept some classics like watercolor versions of the Star Wars 1997 re-release, original Transformer teasers (Optimus & Megatron), Terminator Salvation Burning Skull teaser and the complete HP series.
Great idea. I didn't know this sort of thing was available. Sure beats trying to find one of those "rack" things where the posters are in frames and the frames are attached to a rack that you flip through the posters. But WOW pretty expensive.
I loved the time traveling aspect and the AI cat, but wasn't so happy about the twist villain. The poster looks cool though (I hadn't seen the movie when I recorded this video).
I was at a car-boot sale (flea market) recently and there was a woman selling old posters from when she worked at a movie theatre in the 90s. I was really interested in buying some but for some reason I didn't end up picking up anything. I think it was because I was overwhelmed by choice and didn't really know where to start with it all.
@@DaneNeves She must have had almost every movie released from 94 - 99. The posters I was eying up to buy were for Tank Girl, Herucles and some Nickelodeon movie (a strange selection in my opinion)
A great find!👏 By the way, how do you manger get your hands on theater movie posters? When I ask the theater, all they say is that they will call me or that they normally donate it.
That's a good question. I was lucky to have friends (and friends of relatives) work there. Some theaters gave away their posters to their employees as Christmas presents and my friends, in turn, gave them to me. Also, some theaters sold their old posters for like a few dollars, which would go towards charity. It really did depend on the day and the individual theaters. Some of them were like "Absolutely not, we won't give you posters." For the ones I really wanted but couldn't get for free, I would buy them off of poster websites.
I live near a movie theater that throws their posters away, I get them for free from them instead of them throwing them out. I don't actually make that much money from my job, I don't make enough to buy these portfolios but I have well over 100 posters from movies over the last couple years, I put them in tubes but the older ones have slightly worn down edges because the tubes don't protect the edges obviously, any idea what I can do on a low budget?
When I was a kid collecting movie posters, I only had 5 frames (27x40) hung up in my room. I had a ton of posters and I would occasionally swap out posters in the frames depending on my mood or if I got tired of seeing what was already up. Maybe you could find some frames at a thrift shop and do that? Rotate the posters out every month or so?
@@DaneNeves That would be nice to do and I might get a few frames in the future, but that doesn't exactly solve the root problem of the edges wearing down inside of the tubes for the older posters.
I have a portfolio like this, but I recently bought a flat file with four drawers, I'm thinking of storing my posters in the flat file in the Baroque sleeves for some extra protections. Any thoughts on that?
I think that's a viable option if you're planning to stay put. The reason I got this portfolio in the first place was that I was about to move to another state and wanted to bring my favorite posters with me. If you've got the space for drawers, go for it!
Greetings Dane, I’m a fellow Disney Movie Insider member, started collecting maybe just a bit before the pandemic, but they’ve all been in their original tubes/toblerone box. Just got my Deadpool and Wolverine Payoff poster the other day and was considering a light box, which is how I stumbled upon your video. May consider the Portfolio now as well. Do you also have a light box for display purposes or do you mostly keep them in the Baroque Portfolio?
Thanks for watching! I've only displayed my posters in standard hanging frames. This was also when I was a mere teenager. A light box would be really cool if you have the space for it! The portfolio, for me, is really to just preserve the bedroom artwork of my youth.
Ahhh yeah. Maybe one day. The posters in this particular portfolio are of movies that shaped my childhood and teen years. So, they're extra special to me.
When you said a poster is double-sided does that mean the image is on both sides of the poster (possibly flipped)? I was imagining that being the case depending on which side of the theater a poster was displayed on.
Yup! It's the same image only mirrored (one side is "normal", the other side is "backward") so that when you shine light through it, like how the movie theaters' display cases do, the image pops.
Sorry for the late reply. Sure, any poster would probably fit. Are you talking about band posters like the kind they sell at Hot Topic or Spencers?
