    Quick follow up video to explain the networked digital displays running on a couple of old WIN10 PC's I wasn't using and repurposed them along with some digital screens that were collecting dust. Had quite a few people request a better explanation.
    Apps used:
    www.movieposte...
    github.com/Gha...
    The third app I kept referring to in the video called "Picture Perfect" is not correct. It's actually called Pictureflect pictureflect.com/ Just search for animated GIF Movie Posters online, there are 100s, just save them in a folder and and point Pictureflect to it. Setup so this launches on startup. WIN10 will remember when you have it full screen and will start that way when you turn on again.
    Kodi skin I use: Aeon MQ 8
    Some advice: Key is make this as less of a hassle to turn on, hence the use of smart switches. I have the display and the PC on the same smart switch (check in your PC BIOS for an option to turn on when there is power). Ensure on WIN 10 you have auto log on enabled. This will ensure it is seamless. Perhap your router doesn't change internal IPs too often, but best to reserve the one your PC is assigned as well the your media player. I mention Kodi in the video however you can also setup Frontview if you use Plex or Emby (I don't use those however see the options in Frontview. Movie Poster App is supposed to have Frontview functionality natively as well for automation to show runtimes, however the app hasn't been updated in a while and I couldn't get it to work with the latest Kodi. Still a great app to automatically pull posters and genres you prefer. Be sure to enable the apps to start when the PC starts. Windows will remember the window size as well and suggest to leave it maximized. I never do a proper shutdown and with SSD drives it's never been an issue.

      Thx Tom! That is awesome and exciting times do DM me on my Instagram if you have questions along the way always happy to help. Those screens I had and I repurposed. They are digital signage but nowadays you can find bezeless screens that look best for family cheap even used. Digital signage can be expensive if bought new but you can always find them uses they look better I find as they are not as reflective as well. But you can easily repurpose monitors or tvs you may have already.

    @4:52 - it's a bit difficult to see, but do you have a black accordion door separating the theatre and the game room? If not, maybe an accordion door or blackout curtains could also help set the mood and blockout light?

    Is there a way to use an old phone to send a constant feed to a screen? I was just gonna use a USB, but everytime the TV turns off I have to reboot it. just tried it out, seems sporadic based on the movie, try a few other movies in your collection and see if its black, also change the opacity to brighter as well just in case it is what is causing it. For me I'd say 90% of the posters are there, but some are blank in the background however the jewel case still displays.

      TorontoR Hi, can you post the model # of the TV’s used for your movie posters?
      Also what is your hardware setup for the main screen?
      Is there a reason you didn’t close off the theater to stop light from getting in and do you plan on elevating the back row of seats, like stadium style?
      Do you have plenty of distance for the size of the screen?
      I’m hoping to do this myself in a future home but on a budget of course. I’ve done plenty of Small Home Theatre Setups but never a actual theater replica.

    • @gameroomtheater
      @gameroomtheater  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pgm5088 thx! Just search for digital signage and buy used as restaurants/ malls are always selling them as you want it to be bezel less or not have any logos as it ruins the 'poster' look. I hadn't closed the theater off as the intent was to have an open space for general entertainment such as hosting game day parties etc, but now that I have a big screen downstairs I have since closed it off (7 years later LOL). PJ is 4K i'm in the sweet spot in the front row at less than 9 ft from a 106" screen. Check out some latest updates on my instagram and home you get some more ideas: instagram.com/gameroomtheater/
