    Worked as a personal trainer for the last 8 years. I charge between 70-90$/hr and have used this business to put myself through college and hopefully through physical therapy school next year.

    Hey Tim,
    As an aspiring PT student, I think the first and last side hustle are amazing! Will definitely look into that extra income in the future. Thank you so much for your channel and the way you try to help others!

    I'm in my first year of physical therapy school at university of maryland. I run a hybrid virtual/in person training buisness. I work 10hrs a week and make $2-3000 a month. Its the best side hustle.

    I have always wondered about PT for seniors in their homes. When working as an aide so many seniors said they wished they could keep coming because it gave them incentive to exercise. Seems like it could be very lucrative and fill a space for those who aren't mobile enough to hit the gym but don't necessarily need a PT.

    I am currently a personal trainer in the Bay Area and applying to physical therapy school. Personal training in San Francisco can range from 80-150$/hr. While virtual training can range from 40-60$/hour.

    Great video! I think the BEST advice was on digitizing services. That will give the most longevity, freedom and quality of life... basically the only way we are going to survive into the future. I see you are masterfully applying your business education and physical therapy education. Well done sir.

    Hey Tim, thank you so much for creating such an informative and helpful video. You kind of touched on this in you Why you became a PT video, but why did you choose PT over other healthcare careers (e.g. Physician, Nurse Practitioner, PA, Athletic Trainer, etc.)? Also, as a PT, do u have any direct access to Patient care? Thank you so much Tim for all your help! You deserve at least 100,000+ subs!

      Hey Ash! Very kind of you :) honestly I didn’t shadow any of those fields and I should have! Not because I regret becoming a PT but I think it would have been smart to do. I didn’t go into med school because my wife was in med school at the time and I didn’t want to go down the physician route. PT was appealing because of the nature of the work, the flexible hours, and potential to start my own practice. I’ve since moved away from the idea of opening my own clinic and I’m not interested in that at all anymore. A lot of extra work to do that - I’d rather focus on my online business creating YT videos and writing on the blog. Thanks for asking and for being a part of the channel!

      Hey Tim, thanks so much for the feedback! PT is definitely such an awesome career. Do you foresee growth in the field in the future in terms of salary and direct access to Patients? Thanks!

    • @PTProgress
      @PTProgress  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I hope it does! But insurance companies will always try to trim as much as possible. It will be up to enterprising PTs to figure out new ways to deliver solutions to people who need PT. The standard clinic mode will be around in 20 years, but there’s an even bigger opportunity ahead for PTs who think outside of the box.

    The best skill we as PTs provide is the ability to feel, assess and treat with our hands. IMO when you digitize services or do telehealth you cheapen our profession. I understand in a pandemic is is sometimes the only option but it should be the last option.

    I'm a 15 yr old boy living in New Zealand and I plan to become a physiotherapist, I have thought about working with a sports team, clinic or school. Which do you recommend? I am very fit but also intellectual. If I became a personal trainer would it distract me from my university work? I would also like to ask if there is anything I could do to ensure a better position as a Physiotherapist, such as qualifications to add to my CV or something that I could invest my time or money in? This is quite new to me and I was wondering if you could help me out :)

    Hey Tim I am fromm Greece and I am studying Pt here. My dream is to move to the US in the future to chase a career there. I like Pt and the treatment-rehab part but I also like the training part such as perso AL training, I think from Pt you can gain much more knowledge about the body than a single personal trainer, so with a qualification about personal training it's like you have 2 options, I'm not sure about how to built things yet though, what's your opinion (I was also thinking online coaching etc)

    • @josegonzalezmejia4283

      I am currently a personal trainer applying to Physical therapy. I can tell you that both PT and personal training go hand in hand. Knowing both skills will make you a very valuable practitioner. One route I will start looking into is performance physical therapy (hybrid). This sort of a new field, as these physical therapist work with athletes and general populations by being able not just do rehab but take then to performance training also. I will look into the EXOS Human performance methodology, Sue Falsone, and Kelly Starret there some of the pioneers of the whole performance physical therapist ideology.
