    Absolutely beautiful countryside!!! It is comforting to know that in this world of anger and unrest such places do exist.

      It's sad that there is so much unrest in the world today, but as you rightly say, it’s nice to be able to get away from it all and enjoy the peaceful tranquillity of the beautiful Welsh countryside.

      When I was a kid, a Canadian relative used to send "British Columbia" magazine to the family in the UK and I'd spend hours reading and looking at the beautiful pictures. When I did eventually visit, it was just as wonderful as it looked in those magazine photographs. I'm glad you enjoyed the Talyllyn Railway, the Welsh scenery may not be a dramatic as the Rockies, but in its own way it is just as stunning. Best wishes from the UK.

      The Rockies are far east of me, on the B.C.-Alberta border. I am in the Okanagan Valley between the Monashees and Cascades mountains. Think big lake, sage brush, and pine trees. We are part of the Okanagan Plateau, which averages about 5,000' high. The tops of the mountains were scraped off during the last ice age about 10,000 years ago.
      We have deer and bear in town regularly, and 5-10 minutes drive into the woods from here are deer, bear, moose, coyotes, and cougars. The rattlesnakes hang around down at the lower levels. There is also logging and mining in this area.
      This is paradise!

      @@bcmineresearchHi, I just looked on Google Earth to see where you live, it looks like a nice place. I caught the Canadian from Toronto to Vancouver in January a few years ago, I loved sitting in the bar car whilst the clock stopped for an hour at mid night as we travelled through time zones. Sitting in a dome car watching the snow covered scenery pass by was a memorable experience. We stopped for several days in Jasper where we went dog sledding and ice canyon walking, we even went on the Athabasca snow fields and saw fields full of large snow balls, our tour guide got really excited, he said "I've lived here all my life, I've heard stories about the snowball roller phenomena, but I've never seen it, this is amazing" he went on to explain that they were caused by strong winds blowing the snow along causing it to form snowballs. Another memorable sight was seeing the deer stand aside to let our train pass, I was in the beavertail car with a rear view, one of the grain trucks in a freight train must have been leaking and it left a trail of grain between the tracks, once the train had passed the deer casually walked back onto the tracks where they continued to eat the trail of grain, it was an awesome trip.

      It's the rain that makes Wales so beautiful, Queensland is a unique place, it's growing on me, I'm already looking forward to visiting again. Riding the Gulflander and Savannahlander open my eyes, I never realised how extensive the flooding was in the wet season

    So beautiful ... (but what is handed over at each station?)

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed the ride. A token is handed over at each station, it is a key the signaller inserts into a special machine to allow the train to run into the next section of track, only one token can be issued for each section to prevent two trains possibly running in opposite directions from crashing into each other.
