Plenty to come from Dawn and Tim in the next series and, more importantly, the Christmas specials. In response to your question about this episode, I think Dawn respected Tim for wanting to spread his wings and leave for a better career somewhere else….then at the end when he revealed he was staying and even started talking like Brent I think she felt disappointed in him. That’s my opinion anyway.
Ditto. I always interpreted it that she felt sad for Tim and also that if he had left, it would have been easier for her to bin Lee and get with Tim down the line.
Exactly. Like Dawn wants to be an illustrator but she doesn't believe in herself and I guess she looks up to Tim because she believes he does have the courage to take risks in order to live his dream and all of a sudden he gives that up for a bit more money in a slightly different position at a, in her eyes dead-end job. To make it worse he starts to talk like a total knob (Brent-like management talk).
Tim and Dawn thrive off each other knowing that Brent and the job are ridiculous and pointless - both aspiring to more in life. Dawn is confused and upset at the change in Tim's attitudinal because on some level it's taken away something special they had.
When Tim doesn't leave, it's like confirmation for Dawn that she never will either. That mixed with the realization that her feelings for him are going to continue to be a problem.
Great reaction. Back in the day, when this was out, there was a real life docu-soap about an office, identical in many ways and just as cringy. But I have to remind myself that Ricky does such an amazing performance in this that you completely buy into his character.
The dog being called the n word in the Dam Busters was supposedly not racist. It was the name of the real dog during the WW2 raids because it was black, and the n word has a slightly different history in UK.
when your reacting, you don't need to explain the in's, and out's of the what and the why of the characters as them Brits understand all of them and all their little quirks etc, Now with your insight into British comedy which has grown massively over the last few months with the greats like, only fools, the IT crowd, one foot in the grave and all the others you have been watching, now gives you a American an insight into the British people's minds when it comes to their 'comic genius' series like, faulty towers with the mad Basil Fawlty, and his side kick Manuel, This makes you a special person, not hating on anyone, but most Americans don't know anything about other countrys, as they believe America is it, but its well known that the ones that travel the world and the ones who take the time to understand other countries are the brightest well rounded people to which your at the top of the pile, just knowing things like Trigger and his 1 broom in 30 years or so, that lasted all that time sweeping the streets, makes you a very bright man, You could start a revolution in America, you its leader, teaching the ways of Trigger, Del boy, Rodney etc, and all the others you've learned about
@@esinach I can't think of anything he has done that I didn't really like - apart from maybe his appearance in Hollywood Movies. Afterlife, Ricky Gervais Show, Life's Too Short, Idiot Abroad - all memorable shows. I never saw Derek though
@@DJLtravelvids Derek I made it two or 3 episodes. Way too manipulative and over sentimental which it didn't earn. Same with Afterlife, made it 3-4 eps. Really bad.
I feel like I'm the only person sometimes who enjoys both renditions. The UK version goes heavier on cringe and awkwardness but still has somewhat heartfelt moments. The US version has not as many cringe and awkward moments but also more uplifting moments but went on about two or three seasons too long. However, I still enjoy both versions.
i enjoy watching your reactions immensely..BUT..sometimes the volume balance between your comments and the video can be extreme .. is there a chance you could balance the volumes ..this would really help with my viewing experience .. good luck and thanks.
The American Office was Gold for six seasons. It only nosedived once Steve Carell (Michael) left. The shows driving force was gone and it left a vacuum that couldn't be filled. Still that leaves over 100 episodes of quality. I've rewatched this show 9 or 10 times now and it never gets old.
I love Brent’s final thoughts “I don’t do it for the thanks, I do it so people will say ‘I must remember to thank him’l
Absolute brilliant character creation and expertly played by Gervais...
I think Dawn was disappointed in Tim who sounds like he’s turned into Brent with all the same middle management BS lingo.
That is true.
Brilliantly written.
He is Jeff in peep show.. Marks arch nemesis...

Spot on! The Brent lingo turned her off him

That makes sense bud.
Dawn loves him partly because he had ambition like she does but confused because he’s being sucked into Brent world in a dead end job
Tim and Dawn thrive off each other knowing that Brent and the job are ridiculous and pointless - both aspiring to more in life. Dawn is confused and upset at the change in Tim's attitudinal because on some level it's taken away something special they had.
Totally this. AND, her disappointment is likely helping her realize that she had feelings for Tim.
I think Tim's behavior is basically him saying to Dawn "Fine, if you're not willing to take a chance, I won't either"
When Tim doesn't leave, it's like confirmation for Dawn that she never will either. That mixed with the realization that her feelings for him are going to continue to be a problem.

Gareth actor is in all Pirates of Caribbean movies!!
The looks of confusion & horror on the new secretary's face is priceless.
They promoted him because they need a grounds to fire him.
He wasn't just in Peep Show, he's also Ray Von, the long haired Gypsy, jack of all trades in Phoenix Nights
The guy being made redundant at the start is the same guy being hired in the very first episode
Shes fallen in love with Tim.
The dog being called the n word in the Dam Busters was supposedly not racist. It was the name of the real dog during the WW2 raids because it was black, and the n word has a slightly different history in UK.
But Brent said something “it was when racism wasn’t bad” 😃

Ricky Gervais is a comedy genius.
Whilst the office and extras and the XFM shows were great... His latest output has proved "Comedy genius" is a very strong word for Gervais.

You have to do it's always sunny in Philadelphia!!
The Don and Tim "thing" is this shows Ross and Rachel. "will they won't they?."
... but you already know how it will end.
Which do you prefer UK or US version ?
Apples and Oranges i think . It's two different offices. But the US one went on a bit longer than it should. But love them both in their own way

Josh, seriously, what are you gonna do when you "complete" the whole of British comedy? Apart from getting a PhD in it?
And definitely Life's Too Short

This sitcom should have run for much longer.
Nah they knew exactly when to call it a day. Correct decision
Look what happened to the American version...
Kept going downhill season after season

@KYLE RITTENHOUSE - COMMUNIST EXTERMINATOR Fawlty Towers only ended because Connie Booth wouldn't do any more of it.
