A couple tips for that first pin i drilled a hole on the side of the pin, not next to it but on top part and it popped out i almost lost the pin so make sure you do it on a towel or something. For the second pin make sure you tap it one time and hard if not it will make a lip and it won’t go thru. I had to remove the gold thing and drill a hole right on top of the pin and push it up thru the bottom. It wasn’t as easy as his and i used the same orange picks. Now when you take the last part out don’t make the same mistake i did. PULL IT OUT WITH THE KEY IN if not all the little pins will fall out. Then you just remove whichever little pins are sticking out. I removed like 2 of them and i was fine. Key was able to turn after words.
👍👍👍👍👍 100% WORKED FOR ME !!!! My key wouldn’t turn and for a year it had been acting up, it finally broke down in a parking lot, and i had it towed to my house, found the video and fixed it 👍👍👍👍 now I’m good to go !! Thanks for the video!!!!!!!!
Man oh man! This guy’s got talent! 👍
The best video , so far amigo!!
My Honda fit just started sticking! Thanks for the info👍👍!
So that's how you do it when the ignition is lock or stuck cant wait for your new content
I got the same issue with my 2006 civic so this video was very helpful
You Sir have helped me big time, your directions are so clear. I followed all steps and my car is starting again. Thank you for this. My name is Nyasha im watching from Harare in Zimbabwe.
This helped me 100% it was sticky for a few days I was able to turn the key after a few attempts and at a friend's front door it wasn't turning after trying for half hour, watched this video and it was exactly that, took apart, pulled that wafer and spring and back together starting the car in 3 hours.. that's pretty good for me, I'm nothing close to a professional
That is awesome, glad i could help out...
Mine started sticking a few days ago then yesterday had to tow it to my shop. I tried wd40 working it for hrs. No luck. Now I’m about to try this.
Great tutorial! Props my Filipino brother!
Great video thank you!
Thanks for the video, helps me
Paid the automotive locksmith today.187.00. Two dudes came out and they told me just as ive read. The wafers were pushed out n worn. Works great now.
Did they fix it for that price??
Answer the question jeez. Why even post if you’re not going to be helpful to others.
Read the tittle! You can do it for free if you do the labour yourself!!!!
Sharawt vin dadi ikaw na talaga the best mga vlogs mo very informative! Diziz gonna comeout the whole thang ganern nauto nako mag english sayo hahah char! Regards and Godbless bro!

I hope this helps you...
I’m going to try this tomorrow on my car thank you bro!🙏🏽🙌🏽👍🏽😭😭
Did it work for u
@@jfreeman3872it worked for me but man it took me a while i almost gave up
You are brilliant man, i am going do same to mine.
Thank you very much it’s work 100%
You are awsome my friend thank you
Awesome work! I wonder if you filed off the key sticking above the cylinder if that would work versus removing it completely? That would save some effort and time, and prevent you from messing up the lock by taking it apart and putting back together again.
My son called me with the same problem he didn't have WD 40 handy so I told him to dip the key in motor oil and it work like a charm didn't have to take anything apart.
Awesome man
@vin dadi did you have to Disconnect the battery on the car before removing the ignition lock from the vehicle?
Remove the gold arm and drill a lil hole thru the top to push the pin out.
Very very good
thank you, worked for me too.
the honda dealer here wanted $700, screw them.plus towing charges
Did you take the steering wheel off when taking the ignition out?
No, just the steering column covers to access the ignition
Question i have the samw problem is a cura tl 2005 i have the part out but all the pins there unlevel out of the pocision what i can do.. new part cost is 478 o of money
Thank you
Good job
Hello
Loved your video. Gives me hope.
My issue is that the key is completely stuck. Meaning I can't get it to turn enough for it to come out!! Do you think it'll work?
My other question is, is it possible to get the switch to just turn with any key? I know I still have to use the original key, but I don't want to go through this again.
Thanks!
a god send
I’m going to try this after work my spare key messed up my ignition last night
Mine worked once removed the wafer but when I install it back in the ignition it won’t work any suggestions?
@@gilbertperez1337 was you steering wheel locked? I have the same issue at the moment. Fixed the wafer. But now my key cant turn and my steering is locked any help please. Thanks
I went to the store and got 2 8mm metric bolts to put it back on the steering column since the ones that it comes with you can’t take them off the way to take them off is to grab a flat hit screw driver and bang on them at an angle with a hammer to get them to screw off (he doesn’t show that part ) that’s to take off the whole assembly, there is a video showing how to do it on here
My Honda accord steering wheel is locked but the key turns and car starts. What do you think the issue is? Thanks.
Would this work on a 2001 Honda crv
My question is wen the car is on position, can you take the key or it stay stock in place
I bought a brand new ignition from autozone, it will not release when I turn the key back, so I may have to remove one of the wafers to get it to remove
This ain't a tutorial because now I've seen the video I'm certain it's a job for a professional
Its for a person that willing to be wrong until it's fixed laziness prevent you from becoming great
Thanks for your video, great job 👍
What lubricant do you use?
Is it possible to swap an ignition key cyclinder solenoid off a used unit and out it on my current one to avoid all this? My key gets stuck in first position regularly to remove the key. Thanks man
You would need a key for that used key cylinder, it would work, but you would still need the old key for your doors
@@VinDad1 appreciate the response, Aren’t the solenoids (white plastic rectangle) interchangeable?
My boyfriend took the ignition cylinder out and then i took the cylinder to a locksmith who removed all but one of the wafers and then gave it back to me and we reinstalled it. The locksmith only charged me $50! Didnt have to reprogram anything. The removal of wafers does make things easier for any potential theives, but where i live and drive its very low risk of a car being stolen. Just saying if you dont feel comfortable with this repair, if you can get the cylinder removed yourself, itd still ve well worth it to do so as the locksmith was cheap, ive had no issues with it whatsover since it happened 5 years ago.
Could of just pulled the wafer out yourself, that's the easy part
@@ramirorios9010 lol you're so right
So to confirm, the wafers really don’t do shit so long as I don’t want it stolen, say parked in a and neighborhood with the hood and doors open with my keys on the roof? Cause that’s really my next goto. Next question would be what if I did this worked till I put back in the cylinder and can’t seem to get it all lined up right now. Still no green. Blinky so transponders doing it’s thing I did maybe sorta try to hack it too get it him( held lock cyclinder with skinny tie over wheel lock.. yeah that shit did NOT WORK! But leaving back on a real note. Any good videos explaining how the keys are mapped mine was only 1-Fuloor 😮😢
But what is the wafer for? Other than now being able to turn the key, what changes result from the wafer not being there? (ohh, and put the cap back on your Sharpie...)
Taking out just one wafer will make it slightly easier for someone to pick the lock, but not a big deal. Worth it to get your car working again
The water fits into the grooves of your key, but sometimes when they get old they get stuck in the Outward Position which makes it not possible to turn your key in the ignition
is night time now I been trying for few hours now I will try this tomorrow thanks 🙏
I'm frustrated. I went through all the steps and removed the one wafer that was stuck. I actually ended up taking out all of the wafers because I want no future problems. I put it all back together and it worked! the ignition turned and I test drove the car.
Well now it won't turn again. It's definitely not another wafer because they're all gone. its what's it connects to internally that won't turn and I'm totally stumped. Of course a whole new assembly will fix my problem. But I just can't believe that it worked, and then 10 minutes later a different problem occured? blows my mind
probably the spring that goes into the housing, the big spring in back- it all has to line up when you reinsert it
The keys from this era wear faster than tumblers. Get a new key cut at dealer and watch it turn; sounds odd but worked for me and way faster.
is there any other way to take the pen out without the drill?
not that bad i just got the pin out
Is this a temporary fix or will It last? I am debating if I should take out the wafer and spring or just replace the cylinder? Is your car still working to date? Please help :)
Should be a permanent fix
Will work for ever
It’s also the same part for 2005 Civic.
Is this the same for a 1998-2002 Honda Accord
There might be a slight difference on the key cylinder, but if you can open it up to remove the wafer, i don't see any reason why it won't work...i hope it does...
I fixed that but the insights steering lock is still locked
Hey i have a Odyssey, took the problematic wafers out. the key turns now, however when I put it back in the car the key won't turn. Any suggestions? Thanks
Maybe your steering wheel is stuck, try moving your steering wheel all the way to the left or right and turn the key
@@VinDad1
How do you unlock the steering wheel mine is locked in place
I have the same problem, key turning inside the cylinder but when I put it back in the house against the spring it wouldn't turn.
But however there is a metal button in the half circle space if you engage it while the cylinder is in the you unlock the steering wheel 😊
Im trying to help somebody with this but the key still wont come not,not even the wafers....as soon as i wrote this i managed to get it out, lol,i had to push the wafer all the way in being the key was jammed in i guess.
I cannot get my steering wheel to move/unlock therefore I can't them the key.... will this work?
Try wiggling the key and pull your steering hard over to the left or right
@@VinDad1 no offense but this is obvious... This is not a normal wiggle the steering wheel issue from the parking feature. Something is wrong... It will not turn. The wheel or the key.
@@ladymandella9 you'd be surprised, i think you meant to say, "thank you for the tip, it unfortunately didnt work" fuckin bitch
Didnt show how to chisel the thing off and how to put it back in.
What if it’s multiple wafers
you can take them all out, it will actually save you from ever needing to do this again
100% worked for me too. Excellent video.
Video doesn’t explain how he took part out,, just too much waiting time between what he’s doing , better off left to professional unless u have all that time to fool with it and still not fixed ,,
That ignition assembly cost $500!!
