Just did this today on my 04 accord thanks to your video. I ordered the same ignition unit you linked and it fit. Went and got a chisel set from harbor freight and got to it. Hey, question? My car has a bad stalling and shake, then it's turns to normal after about 30 seconds, I've changed all the sensors, and 02 sensors are still the same issue now do you think the ignition switch could cause this problem for the stalling I read it could be.
@Gasdieselgarage yes, codes continue to read misfire, but I know the plugs and coil packs are not the issue. I replaced them all with Denso and the map sensor with the original Japanese sensor, so the only thing left I read would be the ignition switch
@@bigbrad9976 well I guess it wouldn’t hurt to replace the ignition switch but also check all battery cables, terminals, health of the battery. Nice video.... I'm swapping out my Ecu, ignition switch and immobilizer to put on another car same make and model. 2003 honda 4cyl. Will it start right up without programming anything?
I mean I have a problem. My key fob on my '04 Accord is pretty ate up at the top, but I highly doubt the transponder fell out on it's own from general wear and tear. I think on mine it's located kind of top right in-between 2 buttons, but I can't tell if it's my tumblers that is the problem, the fact that I have to super glue now the physical key to the fob itself and it's just not turning correctly while in the ignition or the highly doubtful transponder itself that is malfunctioning somehow. I have to go to work in the morning. I can't really do anything at 11 pm for the next day. It just won't budge it seems. It is stuck in the zero position when there are 1, 2, and 3 positions. It won't go out of zero now though. I somehow got it to work when I went to work this morning though and when I left work this evening. I wish I knew what it was, I'm a sitting duck with my job on the line. This isn't the type of job with a lot of "mercy" either.
Wish I saw this before I put everything together 😭. TH-cam should be putting this towards the top of the search list of key reprogramming and ignition switch changes

Did I do something wrong?
@@tazz187able how bad was the wiring to the ignition switch before you replaced it?….the reason I ask is because the car will still crack by turning the plastic center piece on the wire side with a screw driver.

I've checked everything else in the vehicle I mean EVERYTHING, the green key symbol keeps flashing I'm assuming to let me know it's an issue with the ignition system. I have a new starter, a new alternator and a new battery I also have recently installed a new fuel pump assembly. Before the car stopped working it would turn on but it took sometimes a dozen or more key turns before the car would actually turn on. If possible could please give me some ideas of what could be wrong. I'm at my wits end
Yes absolutely I’m sorry you’re going through that headache. #1- does the original key have a chip in it?…#2- is the original key a Honda key “meaning does it have the logo on the key?..#3- if the answer to both questions are yes. Try holding the original key up to the ignition near the illuminated green circle while turning the new key….if this doesn’t work you most likely have a bad VATS ring that doesn’t recognize the key….Email me I can show you what that part is…..”GasdieselGarage.com”
Is it possible to swap an ignition switch solenoid off a used unit and out it on my current one to avoid all this? My key gets stuck in first position regularly to remove the key. Thanks man

@@davidgreen2055 honestly bud I think you have battery issues. Batteries only last about 5 years on normal conditions. ….I’d get the battery tested and go from there…..the battery may have voltage but no amps left to keep the engine running and especially newer Hondas require proper voltage to power all the computers on board.
Hello my dear friend and you are great my compadre and blessings and I thank you very much for the explanation and God bless you I always send you a big virtual hug for everyone and take care of yourselves everyone
Is the immobilizer part just the rfid chip antenna for the reader in the ecm? Where is the ecm computer module mounted? Can you just find the output of the computer module and jumper it to bypass a bad sensor? I have an older Pilot and would rather not spend a fortune on a car that the immobilizer only sometimes works. Why replace the input (sensor) side if you can force the output to say always start.
@@Gasdieselgarage 2006. It’s just frustrating because it’s very intermittent. I suppose the service manual is “change this module if xyz happens. I understand. I got screwed by the dealer and now the windows and door unlock but won’t start took battery out and tried the key in different modes of lock and unlock but still won’t start it worked from the dealer for about a month but now won’t start not the battery it a new legend one cleaned terminals still in a theft mode and the green light acts up and when I put key in it stays on for a bit longer than it’s supposed to
So I've got a 99 accord coupe that cylinder lock & immobilizer was ruined when someone tried stealing it. I got a used cylinder lock/immobilizer & ignition switch & it came with original key for it. When I swap them out will the car start? I am uncertain about if it'll need to programmed to ECU? Or is it just the transponder & immobilizer that have to match?
Unfortunately the immobilizer has to match the cars BCM / ECU. But how bad did the immobilizer ring get damaged?…it’s possible it may still work with the video you just watched
So wait after transferring the little chip into the new key, would you still have to have the key reprogrammed if you want the remote fob to work? To lock the door and use panic I mean

Followed the video, but the car won’t start with the old key placed on top of the new. Even cut the chip out and still nothing. Only cranks but doesn’t start. Any tips? Locksmiths are wanting to charge me $300 to rekey the dang thing
I am having trouble with my honda civic 2015 ignition key switch, thanks to your tutorial I know I can do it. Q. Any idea where can I buy it. Thanks for your help.
Is the key not turning freely/ getting stuck?……yes I do know where to buy one ….just trying to narrow down your problem
@@Gasdieselgarage ir does not turn at all.
How can you turn the wheel to expose the screws if your wheel locks?
Is it possible to reprogram the key using the old immobilizer?
will this replacement part work with a 99 honda accord?
Yes it should
????? BIG GUY how did you turn the wheel to get to that screw without wheel lock activating? i have the same prob with my 03 4door accord my friend
Please help I did a heater core replacement on my 2001 Honda Accord. Of course the dash and all connections were removed. As I put everything back in place and reconnect everything and start the car I have no green security light on my dash at all car want start cranks but no start
If it just cranks I’d check the connection plug at the round transponder ring…it’s usually a green plug
Also no power going to obd connecter..... I think maybe I just missed reconnecting a ground somewhere
I checked the green plug it's good
Hi sir manual and automátic is the same swich ?
Yes it should be.
Would this be similar for a 98-02 accord
So if I get the key and the immobilizer out of a junkyard car would that work
Technically yes
Thanks brotha just got gifted one of these at work. Needs a few other things but runs mint!
Will this work for a 2010 Honda Civic?
Hi man i have serious problem my 2006 civic had the same problem did everything same as your video but car won't start just the ac does??
I need Help
Hey, question? My car has a bad stalling and shake, then it's turns to normal after about 30 seconds, I've changed all the sensors, and 02 sensors are still the same issue now do you think the ignition switch could cause this problem for the stalling I read it could be.
Do you have any check engine lights on when it starts acting up?
@Gasdieselgarage yes, codes continue to read misfire, but I know the plugs and coil packs are not the issue. I replaced them all with Denso and the map sensor with the original Japanese sensor, so the only thing left I read would be the ignition switch
@@bigbrad9976 well I guess it wouldn’t hurt to replace the ignition switch but also check all battery cables, terminals, health of the battery. Honda electronics are very dependent on power and ground for the ecus. Oh and bye the way…does your Honda have a distributor type ignition?….these have a problem with oil leaking through them.
Hey brother looking for the link to amazon not seeing it!
Sorry I just saw your message… do you still need it?
Click "more" in the description to expand it. The link is there.
Thanks for your video I did my honda accord 04 the same you did it now it is working thank you again it is very help full I appreciate you
Too cool my friend…congrats…it’s why I do these videos.👍
Nice video.... I'm swapping out my Ecu, ignition switch and immobilizer to put on another car same make and model. 2003 honda 4cyl. Will it start right up without programming anything?
Did it work?
Will this fit a 2006 Honda Accord Ex? My local Autozone got these going for $280, and the one you got is only 60plus
What if you lost the keys and forked up the ignition and bought a new ignition cylinder how do i program the keys that came with it
Amazing technique. You have saved me some cash. Thank you
That’s awesome my friend it’s why I do these videos
What about if the steering wheel won’t turn and I can’t looses the screws behind it
Wish I saw this before I put everything together 😭. TH-cam should be putting this towards the top of the search list of key reprogramming and ignition switch changes
I watched a guy cut the immobilizer out by using a blade along the seem and then later glueing it back together. He made it look easy.
Should it matter if the car is an auto or manual? I would assume not if I’m using the original transponder with the factory immobilizer
No it shouldn’t matter but make sure of it’s an (automatic) that your neutral safety switch on the transmission is not faulty
Sounds awesome, thanks for the video!
!!!Help!!!
I installed the ignition switch. I know I have to still get it programmed, car came with a busted key with no chip and a shabby ignition. With the original ignition and the busted key as we all know is going to get the green key signal but it still acted like it wanted to start now with the new ignition and program key it doesn't act like it wants to start. Did I do something wrong?
Does the engine crank?
It did before I changed out the ignition
@@tazz187able how bad was the wiring to the ignition switch before you replaced it?….the reason I ask is because the car will still crack by turning the plastic center piece on the wire side with a screw driver.
Sir what if the key that I have now (original) is NOT being recognized by the system then what? My key does turn with no problems but the car is NOT recognizing the key.
Try holding the original key up to the ignition near the illuminated green circle while turning the new key….if this doesn’t work you most likely have a bad VATS ring that doesn’t recognize the key….Email me I can show you what that part is…..”GasdieselGarage.com”
check the fuse, it will say something like ACL or something under the hood
I’m not able to find the chip and I don’t know if I damage it trying to find it
The key you took apart…is it the original key by Honda?
Is it possible to swap an ignition switch solenoid off a used unit and out it on my current one to avoid all this? My key gets stuck in first position regularly to remove the key. Thanks man
Can the security on the ignition switch bypass by any chance
I have a 2020 Honda accord i put the key in the ignition it turns but nothing works in dash in dash, radio, light ac works and when turns the key to start, it stars and shuts off. main fuse good with other fuses and relay i check .Please help dont know what else to do.
How old is your car battery?
2010 but it has 79000 miles
@@davidgreen2055 honestly bud I think you have battery issues. Batteries only last about 5 years on normal conditions. ….I’d get the battery tested and go from there…..the battery may have voltage but no amps left to keep the engine running and especially newer Hondas require proper voltage to power all the computers on board.
thanks for this upload. i guess i really gonna have to go to the dealer because i lost the original key
Yes unfortunately my friend
My 08 Ridgeline key turns, everything comes on, but it doesn’t engage starter. Does this intermittently
Mine does also. Make sure you push the gear shifter all the way into park before turning the key. Thats helped me out.
Hello my dear friend and you are great my compadre and blessings and I thank you very much for the explanation and God bless you I always send you a big virtual hug for everyone and take care of yourselves everyone
What if the steering column is locked and you can’t move it
How many hours does it take to complete this?
Honestly 1 hour
Is the immobilizer part just the rfid chip antenna for the reader in the ecm? Where is the ecm computer module mounted? Can you just find the output of the computer module and jumper it to bypass a bad sensor? I have an older Pilot and would rather not spend a fortune on a car that the immobilizer only sometimes works. Why replace the input (sensor) side if you can force the output to say always start.
Yes you can do that if you are computer savvy
@@Gasdieselgarage any suggestions about where to find the ecm location and a good source for a service manual with schematics?
@@techguy9023 I actually do know where you can get the full tech manual for any car actually…give me a few minutes I can direct you to it.
@@techguy9023 what year is your pilot?
@@Gasdieselgarage 2006. It’s just frustrating because it’s very intermittent. I suppose the service manual is “change this module if xyz happens. I understand. Somewhere a circuit is grounded to ignition or fuel pump to do the disable. There may not be a simple solution but I need to at least look. Thanks
I have a 2006 honda odyessy. will this video apply for both switch and keys?
Dam I have an 2005 I asked the same question 🙋♂️ you did except 9 months went by an u still ain't got an answer did you try it anyways ?
I got screwed by the dealer and now the windows and door unlock but won’t start took battery out and tried the key in different modes of lock and unlock but still won’t start it worked from the dealer for about a month but now won’t start not the battery it a new legend one cleaned terminals still in a theft mode and the green light acts up and when I put key in it stays on for a bit longer than it’s supposed to
No it’s not bud….Does that car engine crank when you turn the key?…..not start….just cranking?
How you get the steering wheel unlocked ?
So I've got a 99 accord coupe that cylinder lock & immobilizer was ruined when someone tried stealing it. I got a used cylinder lock/immobilizer & ignition switch & it came with original key for it. When I swap them out will the car start? I am uncertain about if it'll need to programmed to ECU? Or is it just the transponder & immobilizer that have to match?
Unfortunately the immobilizer has to match the cars BCM / ECU. But how bad did the immobilizer ring get damaged?…it’s possible it may still work with the video you just watched
What do if my steering column locks up???
Does it lock up while driving or sitting still? Check your power steering fluid level 1st
so one of your new key still won't work right?
you replaced old transponder in one but the other needs to be programmed, or am I missing something?
Thanks man you save my life I’ll send you greetings from sacramento ca
I use to have family in YUBA city near Sacramento…very cool my friend
So wait after transferring the little chip into the new key, would you still have to have the key reprogrammed if you want the remote fob to work? To lock the door and use panic I mean
No you shouldn’t have to reprogram because you’re basically transferring the same equipment that came standard on the car….
@@Gasdieselgarage oh ok. Well thank you, I ordered the part and will be following your steps!
@@vari5509 absolutely and if you need any help or guidance just message me.
@@Gasdieselgarage im in need of help with my Honda accord replaced the ignition tumbler with harness and all, car starts just have to disconnect the battery for the ignition to fully release the key any suggestion!!
@@jamesalaquinez3474 the only thing that could be the problem is with the electrical side on the ignition…the switched part that the tumbler turns…it’s got to be shorting out ..not allowing it to turn the engine off.
