Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This TH-cam channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video. - กีฬา
It's not officially Friday until I get a "Break 75" notification.
It's Saturday
@@listey Hey Australia, its still Friday ! Dont take it away from us
*Break 85

Think it will be announced asa public holiday when Rick finally does break 75😂
My favorite thing in the world is when Guy explains the shot he will hit and then says "nope" immediately after striking the ball.
He'd still wipe the floor with me though😂
Yeah man always makes me lol too!
😂 Easily relatable
@@braddriscoll6410this though lol. Love having the relatable feel and chemistry from him in the vids but he can also pull out the proper skill and look menacing
My favorite thing is when Guy is not in the video, so annoying and talks more than Rick does and it’s ricks video. Please make Guy go away permanently. Rick has a lot of other friends that are much more enjoyable on video.
it's crazy how youtube content can be more exciting than watching a show on TV. I look forward to these episodes every week. I work from home and I stop what I'm doing and take a break just to fully watch these every week. Thanks Rick and Guy for great content! Absolutely love it!!
Yeah I am surprised how many of his 1 hour episodes I watched fully start to finish with no breaks.
Who cares? Brilliant content
I do the exact same thing! It scratches that golf itch while I'm sitting at my desk, looking out my window, wishing I was golfing.
It's because TV is absolute garbage now. Re-runs and just crap. With TH-cam you get consistent new content every week and a lot of it now is high quality. I spent half my time on TH-cam 👍
@@trystandavies2469 plus the commercials are unbearable to watch these days. Hardly ever a good original new show. It’s no wonder the writers and actors are on strike. But steaming platforms have unfortunately gotten us all used to binge watching and tons of new content all the time so the days of cable tv are numbered
“One of us, one of us” this is all I can think when you guys have a ‘bad round’. I think that’s why you are so successful because so many millions of us can relate to you. If you were breaking 65 each week we would just be watching the tour.
I’d like to see Rick do something like this with a beginner / high handicap golfer, that way he could coach and offer coaching tips to the scenarios that you find in your average round of golf.
❤ Love Ricks breaking 90 vids ❤
I've played golf for 20 years, and I always think I suck at golf. But I watch these videos and see Rick scoring like me and I think, "maybe I am good at golf?" Seeing Rick's positive-ish attitude after a quad reminds me that a bad hole or a bad round doesn't define you as a golfer. It's just a part of the game.
Everyone has plenty of bad rounds. I'm off +1 but my last round at my regular course was 81, which included a triple bogey on the last in front of the clubhouse. I also made a few putts in that round. Could easily have been 90.
@@davidgraham8058 Even tour pros have bad rounds, where they might be in the 80's
Gotta love Rick holding his finish on a drive that’s missing 50yds right 🤣
I played this course about 3 times in the late 80's, didn't realise how lucky I was back then, was about £12 a round. Also played Musselburgh for 50p on the same trip as we were all 17. Beautiful part of the world 😍
So happy to finally see a course I've played on the channel. As a high handicapper this course is the most beautiful I've ever seen or played but absolutely maddening. Play with a caddy or a member if you get a chance, so many tricks and tips. Shout out to the members of this cathedral of golf!
As someone currently just seeming to come out the other side of about a 2 month super slump, I can relate to Rick being a good golfer and feeling like you can't hit a golf ball to save your life. Hang in there Rick, there's bound to be light at the end of the tunnel.
He just need a master class to be the golfer he really is
What a beautiful course - it's been added to my 'must do' list! Fabulous show guys - really enjoy it and the fact that you are so relatable - makes all us duffers feel better when even a PGA professional like you can have a bad one. Can't wait for the next one!
Stunning course
Rick has a bad one more often than not
Just got done playing North Berwick and I want to thank you for your Break 75 video. I watched this video every week for the past month in preparation for playing, and it helped a 16 handicap shoot a 91(almost had a hole in one on #10!) I had the same wind conditions just not as severe. Thanks to you and your team, I felt like an expert on the course!
I’ve been a long time subscriber to the channel and am thrilled with the content; it’s really the gold standard for TH-cam golf. The thing that sticks out to me, though, is the consistency of posts: y’all are doing a great job of keeping high quality videos releasing once or multiple times a week. Impressive and much appreciated!
So much incredible content Rick has been putting out lately. Great courses, good mix of guests. Excellent stuff mate
if only he could golf..
Rick is to golf what Stephen Hawking was to break dancing. North Berwick…. Phenomenal.
Look forward to the next episode of Break 75 (windows) 👍
should call the series +75 💀
💀💀
Stevie Wonder would give him a game at the minute
Great video, Rick! I played this course about a month ago on a trip to Scotland with my cousin. It was a bit rainy so pictures back to friends and family didn't do the course justice for how spectacular it is. Also thank you for backing up just how brutal and defeating this course and wind really is to play in.
This course is in Scotland ?
I played North Berwick in 1999 while I was in the UK playing cricket and it is still my favourite course. Dunstanburgh Castle GC was a close second. Nothing like a links course… Thanks Rick Shiels for bringing back great memories 😊❤
You played cricket professionally? Or golf
My Dad used to wax lyrical about this course, coming from Leith. It was almost a mystical links course to him and his friends. He managed to play a few times in the 50s and 60s.
I really do admire Rick for continuing to play these tough courses, in the wind, when it would be so easy to play easier courses and shoot better scores. Suppose you always want to test yourself but that was tough to play and tough to watch. No other youtube presenter puts themselves through what Rick does and still have a smile at the end of it.
I am once again reminding Rick Shiels that flipping the clubface open wildly on the takeaway is absolutely killing his golf game.
Yep, he is so handsy and flippy as a result. Hence the block right and smother hook left when he doesn't time it up.
MR Harmans lesson, seems to have escaped him,,,,,,,,hahahaha
i’ve always wondering but never too bothered because he’s a coach but it seems to be the main problem with how he’s been playing lately
Oh my word it’s driving me crazy watching it. Fix it!!
Keep telling. I hope he‘s going to practice more. Don‘t really enjoy watching anymore when there is a „oooh“ after every shot.
This truly is a wonderful course and amazing setting , had the pleasure of playing it during open week of 87 for the first time and shot 2 over in beautiful conditions, it’s a truly wonderful course and by far my favourite in the U.K.
Love the drop in by Blockie. Imagine if Guy could play from where Rory hits it.
Walked off the course after my own break 90 this morning (shot an 88 thank you very much), pulled up TH-cam to see a fresh video from Rick…. Today is gonna be a good day! Cheers mate!
I love his enthusiasm and his genuine love for the game, including its history. He's so down to earth.
I'd love to see Rick work with a sports psychologist. You can't be as disappointed as he is missing a 5% eagle putt by a foot for a tap in birdie after a bunch of bad putts. He should have been hyped.
Bad shots early in a round snowball in his head and destroy his confidence. Especially bad when it's the driver and/or the flatstick.
I’ve offered but no reply🥺 weird considering I work with tournament professionals 😳 I even offered FOC
I totally agree with you. I watched a video last year, missed a putt for eagle, 60+ ft. at least. He was down on himself like he missed a dbl bogey putt. I put a comment down directed to him, but maybe if we keep telling him, he will seek that route
@@MikeHopwood-mo3rx I’ll take you up on a FOC offer, happy to make a video too 😂
Coming from Australia, I’ve had the privilege of Playing The West Links 3 times! I absolutely love love love this course and can certainly sympathize with Ricks into the wind struggles. There are so many highlights, the video finds it hard to do it justice; but the smiles on everyone’s faces tell the story!!
Where is this golf course located ?
Love your Break 75 videos !
Always enjoy the beautiful & iconic courses ♥️
Your rounds may not have been what you wanted…but keep the faith !
You are so blessed to be able to play these courses and do what you love as a job ✝️♥️
GEEEESSS LOOK AT THE WIND!!! VERY VERY TOUGH, GREAT GOLF IN THOSE CONDITIONS BOYS.... DAMMMBBBBBB😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Really excited to see what the “look at that view” counter ends up at. Expecting double digits, and it’ll be completely justified.
Edit: the analytics have determined Rick became very, very sad after 9:15 - heard 5 references to the view in under 10 minutes, and nothing afterward.
Nah that’s to save the people playing the “look at that view” drinking game
Played this wonderful course in 2017. It was a “throw in” option and ended up being our absolute favorite. The story about Tom Watson on the 16th green is classic. Great course
To the people hating on Rick in these comments…
This guy is the best content creator in the golf space. Hes been doing it for years and now is a father and husband. Rick is getting older and he knows that so he is not being too hard on himself. News flash, Rick can still play! People making comments about him shooting mid 80’s on championship level golf courses as an aging teaching pro simply dont understand the game. Rick is the absolute man and continues to make great content. Appreciate the guy for his enthusiasm and passion towards the content. End of story.
Absolutely stunning North Berwick! Some great play from you both, but that wind will knock most! Well played 👏
Very first course I played in Scotland and along with Royal Dornoch, it remains my absolute favorite of all time. So excited to watch this one!
It’s crazy how much and often Rick can hook a iron or wedge shot
He hits the ball with his weight on his back foot , it’s like a reverse pivot and this causes him to hit it left all of the time.
@@theliftexpert it’s almost a talent to be able to hook a gap wedge that much a don’t know why he doesn’t try fix it
@@theliftexpert His main issue is that he flares the clubface wildly open on the takeaway. He's like 45* open at the top of the backswing -- which causes him to flip at impact to save the shot.
As a person that may never get a change to play a lot of the courses across the pond, it awesome to see you guys play a lot of different course. It’s seemed a little breezy out there 😂😂😂. Thank you guys for the great content.
Simply breathtaking. The views the banter and the golf. Guy was looking good the first 6 holes but had that 1 bad hole. Keep up the great work. BIG FAN
Hi Rick. Great video as always. Any plans to attempt break 75 on Irelands famous courses?
He might play them - there won’t be a reasonable attempt to break 80 let alone 75.
I played this course in 2021 and it was absolutely wonderful. As a American, I've dreamed of playing in Scotland and this was the perfect choice.
Going out, the wind was so bad. And with rental clubs, I was struggling and shot pretty much my worst 9 since I was a beginner. It was brutal.
Coming in, I shot around my average and hit a perfect drive on 18 and capped with a par -- and didn't even come close to hitting the car park. Hahahahaha.
A wonderful experience and so happy to see it featured here!
Its all fun and days when you load up youtube and see that Rick has a new video.
Really love the series, and love seeing the most beautiful courses in the world! Golf humbles us all, but, we will be back!
Only started playing last year and literally live slap bang in between N. Berwick and St Andrews. Only now appreciating how lucky I am as a golfer to have courses like this so close to home!
Lucky man
I am jealous.
I am a piper, and played the games at North Berwick as a 15 year old. Marching through the town afterwards and the sun came out for the first time since we had arrived was a very special moment.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Aye only 200 quid to play this one and all
@@simontaylor2525 £200 😟😥😢
Went from shooting a 125 to a 95 thanks to your helpful videos and some practice at the range, thank you for everything you do! Keep up the amazing work rick!
Same! So good. Finally hit the 95 on Friday (should’ve been a 93, but got ruined by a Pesky tree branch). I owe a huge amount to these guys.
Anyone can improve from 125 though😅 First you must learn to hit the golf ball
thank you guy and rick u have inspired me to take the dive into golf. i start my journey after august when the kids go back to school.
a few months at a driving rang to get my distance's then next year get onto the course's
thank you for your reviews the podcast and these videos u rekindled the golf fire.
And im getting older and cant play baseball anymore do this is the next best thing i want to do.
..
Guy Charnock Appreciation Post - We are witnesses to your game improving! The scorecard does not always reflect how well you play. You make smart choices and are playing some quality golf. Keep it up! Cheers
One of the best things about this channel is I get to see amazing courses I don't know much about from ground level. Rick's videos serve as terrific walkthroughs and you learn loads from watching. Keep up the great work team!
Loving these intros Rick !
Feels like the videography has stepped up few levels 💥
Think I might pinch these intro ideas, might keep my viewers engaged for more than 30 seconds
Have you noticed things stepped up with his intros since the first good good collaboration. I think their editors showed his guys a thing or two!
The videography is what sets the channel apart.
@@garyco766 I agree and disagree, the videography is amazing but so is every other TH-camr with a full editing team. Pete, Good Good are all really good
@breakingninetygolf Pete is getting better, but Rick's is far better. I actually find Pete more entertaining to watch, and the only thing holding him back for me is that sometimes the videography is lacking. Rick's guys do a good job of shot tracer, and showing what is relevant/imteresting at any given time and with shot good angles. I watched a Peter videon the other day and they're talking about seals in the distance, but the shot is a closeup of Matt's back. Like...really?
played this course in late March with exactly same wind with added bonus of hail storm between holes 8 and 11. Think I shot an 89 as it beat me up hard but was first trip of Scottish golf adventure. Right up there with Cruden Bay and Royal Dornach as best Scottish golf I have played. Really enjoyed this - big smile on my face as I followed you guys around.
Rick, I just want you to know you’re a great golfer. The course and the wind got the better of you today, but the score does not reflect what a wonderful golfer you truly are. Thank you to you and Guy for showing me North Berwick Golf Course. What a gem! Keep up the great work!!!
I am doing my best to improve my game. Your videos have helped me a lot. I'm currently doing about 62 on 9 holes down from the 90s so.. My long game is fantastic and I can get close or on the green for most par 4's and 5's in two. My short game is horrific.
Currently 62 through 9 and your long game is fantastic? Something tells me you have slightly warped standards or you turn into Michael J fox from 3 feet in
@@SteveNinetyski First of all you don't know my entire story. I have played golf Exactly 9 times. Yes my putting is Horrific as I said above. Give a guy some time to learn how to improve his game before you judge hitting a 62 on 9. I came here specifically to thank rick because his tips helped me fix my knarly slice where I was losing a lot of balls. Second of all maybe i'm not playing my best game in this 110' heat. This type of comment is why I hate the internet at times. Didn't even read my entire comment before writing a snarky rude comment back. SMH
@@matthewmoore5254 if you are enjoying your golf and are improving, then that’s all that matters. Don’t listen to negativity and just enjoy the game. Your short game will come! Technique is important, but practice, touch and feel are also vital. If you have managed to cut 60 strokes off your game in 9 rounds, you are doing something right.
Looks like a fantastic course. You take 2 very bad holes from Guy, and he's in the 70s. Great round by him.
Agreed. Well played Guy. Loved the 6 pars then a quad! And the walls!
Just beautiful. Thank you for taking us around the course.
I played a group in front of Rick and Guy that day and I can attest to the strength of the wind. The back 9 was as tough a 9 holes as I have ever played. What an absolutely fantastic place North Berwick is.
Seems like you guys got unlucky with the wind, feels like it would've been a bit easier(albeit still tough) if you were into the wind on the front 9 and with it on the back.
Nice course in tricky conditions. Course management needs work lads!! Will the Dan Grieve short games lesson shots be put into play at any stage?
Regardless of the scores, this is the best break 75 yet. I stayed in North Berwick when I worked at the 2013 Open at Muirfield and it is a special place. Great video and well done Guy on beating Rick!
Friday complete 👌🏻 everyone’s been where you are Rick, happens to the best! Least you have an incredible SIM to practice & refine your skills ⛳️
I feel that Rick would break 75 much more often if he just took his driver out of the bag. His driver cost him so many shots
There has been times that his driver is the best part of his game though too, it’s like anything, if he doesn’t work on it as much, it starts to come apart
He's just a bad golfer who spends too much time playing and not enough time actually trying to get better
And he's wedges
@@Lil-ik3kh”bad golfers” do not break 80.
@@philanthropy244 he's an absolute chopper.
Rick hits lots of good shots but also some questionable ones 😂
I think guy is really good as well. He just needs to stop having those 2 or 3 abysmal holes. Getting a million pars in a row and a +4 is ridiculous. Idk how he does it. He looks like a borderline pro at times then he shanks it. Has to be pure mental imo
It’s golf
If he would lose weight it would help
Stunning video , beautifully produced. Absolutely brilliant Rick! 👊⛳️🏌🏼♂️
Superb course. Have travelled to the UK many times and always make a point of playing North Berwick as often as I can. It's simply "real golf". Should be more widely known, although the locals probably want to keep it more of a secret. The 'green behind the wall' 13th is amazing and the layout fantastic. I'll never forget the 16th green with the trench across it! I played there years ago with a good mate of mine. We both loved it and he went on to lead the Open at Carnoustie a week later until the middle of the last round (no, not van de Velde) so NB got him ready. So glad you too enjoyed playing there. The hospitality of all at the club is second-to-none and the town simply beautiful.
First
Your weakness is literally every aspect of golf. Sad when the sidekick u bring starts beating u on a consistent basis.
Gorgeous golf course, both Rick and Guy had a good look, then shut their eyes coming home. Loved the experience. It shows grit.
I had some great talks with Martin’s dad David, when my son played with Martin in a Scottish Boys event. Such a unique golf course
Sat in my water villa at the Maldives, it's lashing down with rain and the wind is howling...but break 75 has put a smile on my face and lifted the gloom! Thx guys!!!
I love North Berwick superb course. watched this with a smile on my face. well done Rick. keep the classic Scottish links courses coming please. they're brilliant
Another course on my bucket list for sure. It's awesome watching the two of you playing golf.
Golf can be bloody humbling, but thanks for being honest and showing the bad with the good. Had a similar experience at Royal Cinque ports, was holding it together until the last 7 holes then the wind that nearly blows you over hits you & double bogey is a good score!
Always great lol My best friend of 25 years and I play every Friday evening, so this always get me pumped ;) Thanks Rick
I was stood behind that tee box 2 weeks ago and it made me want to play the course!! Watching this makes me want to play it even more!
That course with the ocean views reminds me of the ones I played when I was stationed in Hawaii on Oahu. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much.
Love this course! Guy's wall shot on 13 was classic.
Beautiful course!! I have vague memories of going to the beach at North Berwick in the summers as a young lad.
I love watching this channel because we over in the United States don’t play real links style course. This is my kind of golf playing different type of golf shots. But Break 75 is my favorite with both Rick and Guy very entertaining us.
Are you kidding me with the edits of the intro? 9.2/10! Great job!
The best - and the most fun - golf course I've ever played. Also one of the friendliest. Pure golf. Pure heaven.
Played NB last year in the group behind Harris English, Sepp Straka and Webb Simpson. Loved it! Had a great caddie and blazed a 71. Loved it
Rick,
I got to play this amazing course a couple of times last year. In fact, if you look closely at the scenes you shot on the 16th green, you can see the gate that leads to the back yard of the mansion (the only word to describe this place) that we had rented for a week while we played courses in the area. Many, many thanks for the video as it brings back some great memories of North Berwick.
Brilliant example of what golf can do to you - now we know what a stomped on Coke can feels like! Crushed. But the magic of the experiences just keeps us coming back for more 😂 Loving the work guys and can't wait for the Australian courses swing - Barnbougle, Cape Wickham, Ocean Dunes😀
It's always nice to see the golf course where I was introduced to golf in 1945 and had my first golf lessons as a seven year old. The pro was James Watt who was also a club maker and made my first club, a little mashie, with which I'd have my lessons playing up the first fairway and down the eighteenth. The Glen course at the other end of town is also worth a visit. I agree that the views are spectacular, particularly when the sun shines.
I genuinely got excited when you birdied the 10th! Love these videos with Rick and Guy.
my grandparents live on that road looking over the golf course - amazing, bringing memories back
Rick you need to hit Nova Scotia. Do some research on Cape Breton . Cabot Cliffs and Links, Golf Digest top 100 courses. The cliffs #10, St, Andrews #9 to give it reference. Cabot links #39,. Not to be left out ,Cape Breton Highlands #94. Three Courses top 100 courses in the world Golf Digest, little island Cape Breton Nova Scotia
If you scroll the top 100 you may be amazed how many are in Canada and how wildly different the landscapes are.
Great course that. Absolutely pure. Cheers for that Rick
I'm stoked for you guys to break 175 (together)! But Hey, what a lovely course that is, I wish I can go and play there one day! Love the video as always
Big kudos for posting this when the conditions gave you a hard time. I actually prefer watching good and bad shots rather than all good shots. And the course looked amazing, and terrifying. Thank you.
Rick, I am watching this after listening to the latest Tuesday podcast. Please try not to worry about comments that people have obviously not self checked before posting. You and the wider team are dropping great content and smashing it. I love my Tuesdays and Fridays because of the videos you post, always great to watch. I for one am proud to be a fan and jealous as heck because your passion is your job, how great that must be. Keep it up 👍
Watching this is getting me so pumped for Summer golf. Just about over playing super boggy conditions down here in Christchurch NZ. Great film team.
Wonderful video Rick. Played there with my son on July 4th. It was awesome. Watching your video brought back the memory. Shot 83. Lipped out a putt for birdie from 2 feet on the par 3 15th. That was my highlight. North Berwick is a must for any golfer who travels to Scotland.
Played North Berwick last year and just managed to beat your score Rick. It brought back all the great memories, the quirkiness and such a fun golf course. A must play golf course.
Stunning!
Thank you for showing us all this gem! cheers!
🍻
Rick and Guys tour of Scotland playing courses would be such a fun watch. Get if done for 2024 summer 🏴
Love love love how much Guy is in this more and more, I know I've said it before, but he is the perfect foil for you Rick.
Martins Dad David Huish was a fantastic golfer. Best in Scotland at one time. Led The Open after 3 rounds I think
Rick is someone messing with your account. I’ve just been asked to telegram you ?
I love how enthusiastic you are towards every course. You give the most authentic judgement.
These course Vlogs are unrivalled Rick, amazing content
Lovely course and thank you for allowing us to see it for a few extra shots :)
Great video! Great to see real REAL {relatable} golf being played as well 😂👍🏼
What a fantastic golf course! The 13th hole was amazing.
