Yea brown boots or black are the standard but I don’t know what the third ones you saw were… as long as they are brown or black, leather, polished and comfortable then they’re acceptable
@@MrTimGJ back after a year, thanks for the explaining. just an observation, I was taught drill much closer to the Canadian Army style, we were told never to "cow kick" when doing foot drill.
Hmm - looks like it Tim. Was my TA (remember them?) weekend training base - SAS: Saturdays and Sundays. 214bty Air Defence. I remember drill at 5am there if it is Raglan. Lots of "What did you shave with - a mess tin?' and 'Does your hair hurt? Cos I'm standing on it!" etc Not that long ago - 2000. Combat 95 and proper black boots. I got a 'Satisfactory' for my drill... oh well.

@Connall Bain You size off in height order, tallest on the left shortest on the right | Then, From the right NUMBER 1,2,3.....etc. | Then, even numbers one pace forward, odd number one pace back, MARCH | Ranks right and left turn | Form three ranks QUICK MARCH And you end up with the sizing described by Conall. By ordering your body of soldiers makes it easier for them to march with a constant stride, look at how the centre are doing and make your right marker step slightly sorter if the short arses can't keep up. Greater problem with cadets as some are truly short
