I witnessed His greatness in person twice. He was special. Could make EVERY type of pass , quickest release ever. My favorite player ever; along with Csonka.
His window of of opportunity was between 83 to 85. Especially during the 1985 AFC Championship. The Dolphins had beaten the Patriots 19 straight games and the entire team including Marino shit the bed. The offense had 6 turnovers and Marino threw 2 interceptions. The Patriots rushed for 255 yards and that really was the last time the Dolphins had any opportunity to get back to the Super Bowl. Yes, the Dolphins did make it back to the 1992 AFC Championship, but the Bills just curbed stomped them with 5 Dolphin turnovers. Marino never had that second opportunity to make it back to the Super Bowl. Marino just never had the running game in Terrell Davis and the defense that finally didn't fall apart in the Super Bowls like Elway had his final 2 years in his career. Marino would lose 38 to 3 in 1998 to Elway's Broncos and 62-7 in that embarrassing debacle last game of his career.
Did you get to witness Dan Marino in his prime?
