do you think the new iPad Pro will handle 4k60 at 400mbps video? or cinema 4k?

    • @lasarith2

Marks Tech it can handle 100Mbps, I think it depends on the speed on the SS memory - which I think on my 10.5” is around 500 MB/s

I bought the new iPad Pro to edit my photos with apps like Lightroom and later on photoshop but I’m honestly blown away. Now it doesn’t replace my computers what so ever but the processing power this thing has is pretty insane. Switching through multiple applications without any sort of delay is amazing. Its also a joy to work on, a nice change of pace coming from a traditional computer so I’m pretty happy with it so far. Great video man! Look forward to more.

I understand that Lumafusion doesn't have scopes, so how do you color correct/grade without it?

    Hey Dom, question for ya..
How do you feel about editing on the iPad Pro 3rd Gen using LumaFusion vs a MacBook Pro with Premier or final cut?
I currently have a third GEN iPad Pro and I’m about to dump almost $4k into a MacBook Pro I-9 with 32g of Ram and their newest best graphics card.
I’ll be editing vlogs using sometimes multiple cameras, etc..
Do you feel the iPad is still a little too infant in its limitations and maybe in a year or so, the iPad with a more open and powerful iOS and plus more track availability in LumaFusion will be solid enough to leave the MBPro behind?
    Thanks much!
    Myles-

I recently edited 2 client videos on the iPad Pro using LumaFusion, including plugging in my USB mic amp and recording the voiceover using my large diaphragm condenser mic in GarageBand. Very easy to do once I’d figured out all the workflow options. To import the footage I uploaded all the clips to iCloud and imported the ones I needed into LumaFusion. I’m very impressed, and I’m coming from editing on a MacBook Pro, iMac and Windows PC.

The 2019 Ipad Air has the A12 bionic chip and is a pretty great chip! It's got the guts to do video and photo editing definitely

My MBP screen is acting weird. So thinking I might try an make the jump to an iPad Pro is my main work horse. I edit two videos a week right now which I have been doing for three years in iMovie. I am so stoked to get Luma Fusion.

Can you export a 4K video from both Luma Fusion on the iPad Pro and Premiere Pro CC 2018 on the MacBook Pro with the same edits, effects, lut, etc... but find the difference in time it takes one or the other devices to finish exporting that video.

    Hi Dom,
Yes importing files from camera/SDcard to iPad is ok. What about back-up source files after you did the editing. How you can copy source files from iPad to back-up device (NAS?)
What is your back-up workflow? Do you backup your source files?

You can use a NAS with an iPad. I use one by Buffalo and can transfer files back and forth. Its not as easy as I would like because its not built into the OS but there are apps out there that will allow you to do it. I have used Luma Fusion and have actually rendered the video out to the NAS for permanent storage prior to uploading it.
