Very informative. I have an 09 Polaris Sportsman 500 but I always enjoy seeing other machines and how they stack up and compare. Thank you for the upload! 😊❤️
You mentioned a moto 4. I bought my ‘86 a few years ago for 500. Best money I ever spent. I have a Can Am Bombadier but I love driving the Moto around my trails even more. So much traction for a 2wd. My nine year old just started driving it. It’s a daily event after school to go for a ride and he leads the way.
I'm in the process of getting a no suspension Moto4 (85?) back to life. Sat for 20-25 years under a tree. I'm not a mechanic, so I was fearing the carb and various adjustments... But so far the hardest thing I've come across was freeing up the dang throttle lever. It was stuck hard. WD-40 didn't help. I ended up pulling the guts out, beating it with a hammer around and around, eventually completing a full circle a few times, and it slowly started getting easier to turn. Eventually it came right out and I could clean the shaft. Free as now. The choke (the actual slide in the carb) is as stuck as everything else has been, but I might just leave that because it starts so easy anyway, and it's rarely cold enough here that I can imagine it being an issue. It ran a few weeks ago when I gave it a quick test. Was the best feeling as a non-mechanic to have achieved a running engine that neglected. 😂
When I was a younger my neighbor had a light blue 86 Moto 4 and that thing got the life used out of it. He rode it every day and come fall he hauled wood out of the bush with a little trailer. The thing had no muffler and It burnt oil like crazy, but it never gave up. He had that thing for twenty - twenty-five years, but in 2000 he traded it in on a 2000 Honda Foreman 450es. I had never seen a machine abused so badly and yet still keep going.
I have one in my garage, bought it around this time last year, it was missing a lot, but finally tracked down parts. The hardest thing to get for them is the rear shock. Anyway, that one in your possession looks all intact, the chain guard, front sprocket guard and racks are all there. If the owner ever wanted to part it out, he'd make his money back easily just on those parts alone. These were more popular in the midwest states, so you don't see a whole lot of them anymore. I don't know who tried to compete first, the Lakota 300 or the Warrior 350, but they were from the same era. Of course, the Bayou 300 uses the same engine too.
@@rockspowersports its all good, hey i think i remember a video of you wroking on a polaris trail boss, swear ya did, was that video removed? thanks and have a good day! if not could you send a link?
So the auto clutch can be used like a clutch. Like hold the shifter up putting it into first gear but keep holding up, rev it up, let go, bang wheelie. Makes it feel more manual and less automatic ish. Lol
@@rockspowersports It really came suddenly here, as it usually does, and heavy snow! I like these late falls though, nice job on getting it running so very well, with the price of new stuff so very high, makes lots of sense to keep the older quality machines running.
I have a Mojave 250 and I’m having trouble starting it whenever I try to start it just backfires out exhaust and Intake I believe it’s timing related but I’ve set the time multiple times and no change wondering what else it could be or if I’m just not getting the timing just right
I have a 98 Lakota and I just can not get this thing to run right. When it wants to start it will just bog and bog till it dies. Any idea why that would be I have put way too much time into it and can not figure it out. It also backfires like gun shots. New carb bc it did not one with a stock carb also.
I’d say for the most part Kawasaki’s are reliable. Each model has their own issues but that’s with any brand. Those old Suzuki Quadmaster’s are usually very reliable.
I'm liking the older quads more and more because of the simplicity of them and they are smaller for tight trails cheers from OZ.
that's another thing good about rocks channels,he works on newer and older atvs that most of got!!!

It certainly needed a lot of love. But it's running great now.
I'm sure the guys daughter will be thrilled with the work done.
“I hate that guy” hahah that’s hilarious!! I have one of those guys near me and does the same..Great video man thanks for all the content!
Runs great🎉

Those Moto 4’s are real tough machines. I’ve owned a few throughout the years. Should be a perfect machine to start your 9 year old on.

Always looking for a Rock video always a good watch thanks Rock!
Glad you like the videos!
Kawasaki made some legit tanks back then. Geared and rode like a tank.
Too bad you didn't have time to film the repairs, totally understandable and still an awesome vid. Keep 'em coming.
Glad you still enjoyed the video. Unfortunately I can’t film all my repairs or I wouldn’t get to much done.
Reminds me of the Kawasaki bayou ATVs I owned an 86 or 88 moto 4 and it was fine other than engine to far to the rear and no shocks 😂

I guess I’ll keep any eye out for a deal on a parts machine then! The bayou 300 was probably very similar engine but they used shaft drive on those.
A honda TRX 320MM shock will fit with modifications to spacers etc.
dangggg what heppend to the mechanics vids rock??? i wanna see this thing torn down, cheers from Superior Wisconsin!
They’ll be some more coming, I just didn’t have time unfortunately.

Cool machine! like a Warrior but with racks and real fenders! we're buried here in snow in Calgary, and its gotten pretty cold, sigh!
It’s been pretty mild temps here so far, the colds starting to set in though.

chain driven bayou 300 motor in a modded Mojave chassis is what they are
still looking for that rear drum.
Sorry I didn’t get back to you, unfortunately I don’t have a good spare one.
I had a 97 (i believe) bayou 300, thing was a tank was scratched all to hell by previous owner so seller put a nice snap on camo body cover on it
Another Four Wheeler I never knew existed!!
You really don’t see a whole lot of these around, in my area anyways.
@@rockspowersports yeah I'm in NY/NJ/PA and never heard of these. Everywhere I ride it's either new Can Am and Polaris SxS's or honda quads.
What GPS speedometer do you use on screen when you test ride?
It’s actually built into my GoPro
