Here's my brand new pre-owned Kawasaki Lakota Sport 300! What do you guys think? How will this stack up against the Blaster, Trail Blazer and 300EX? Thanks for watching my video by the way 🤘 You ROOCK!!!
Great bike mike I own blasters and my buddy had a 300 , both those bikes will dominate the Lakota sport 300 there much more aggressive the warrior I still have for my wife is faster then both blaster and 300ex great great bike but I think the 250ex models z250 would stack up better either way can’t wait to see the series man!
The lakota has pretty good power but it’s gonna be a tough one against the other three bikes especially if they have the big 3 and same amount of upgrades
The blaster will win drag races with the 300ex nipping at its heels but the over all winner at the end of the day will be the 300ex they are a great rounded machine.
I love the Top Quad series and can't wait for the battle of the mid-range sport quads. It reminds me of the old days when magazines like Dirt Wheels and ATV Sport were a thing. They would always do shootouts between the various quads available back then. Haven't seen anything like that again until you started doing Top Quad 👍👍
I got two brand new Lakotas in 1997 and still have them both. They have been rock solid over the years. They are both almost completely original. The only parts that have worn out over the years are the rear tires once, batteries several times, and clutch plates once. They need new chains now though, as they're loose and I'm out of adjustment. Can't argue with that after 26 years! Obviously I've done engine oil/filter and air filter changes.
That’s cool you picked up a Lakota 300. I’ve had two of them. One was a 2002 that picked up for a couple hundred bucks, fixed it up, and flipped it. The other one I still have. It needs a ton of work so it’s been on the backburner for a lil while now. I think it’s either a 2002 or 3. They are a great lil machine. Absolutely great for beginners. Yours is in such excellent condition. Blows my mind.
In 1986 for my 14th birthday my dad got me a brand new Honda fourtrax 200sx. 2.5 inches of suspension, electric start and reverse with a semi automatic 5 speed. Some of my best memories. I feel the same way about the 200sx that you do about the lakota. Nice find my friend!
That’s what I miss about mine lol. Slow quad fast vs fast quad slow. I shouldn’t have sold it, got a 400ex now and on my old trails it would have been a blast but the trails we have now would have been perfect for the old lakota.
I bought a brand new Mojave in 1987. Still got it today and she still looks minty fresh. Many inexpensive mods such as opening up the air box, rejecting, and mostly a KLR CDI, really make these run well.
On a 250ex if you shift from neutral to first but hold the lever up and you can Rev it and drop it into first and kind of launch. Definitely not a great sound but it works haha
I've been watching you for a while now, and when this video came out I went ahead and ordered some parts for a lakota I had sitting around. I threw a new oem intake boot and a 300ex carb with airbox delete and a snowmobile k&n. You do have to use a 300ex thumb throttle and cable though but man did it wake it up.
I just bought and rebuilt a 96 trail blazer 250 and its gotta be the most simple engine to work on, no tranny or anything, just a crank rod and piston, and it is way faster than i thought it would be, my daughter loves it, this is going to be a fun series for sure.
Man im so happy u put the blaster in this next series I bought a blaster about 4 years back and I am obsessed with it now and I've owned all types of Two Strokes back in the day and four strokes and I have to say The blaster is one of my favorite now and sick video that little thing looks like so much fun!!!
I had a Lakota all through middle and highschool its a beast on the trail I gave it pure hell weekly and it never left me stranded! The Lakota should dominate the challenge! Nice buy
When i was 11 i begged for this same bike on the showroom floor ... my dad bought us 2 suzuki LT160's lmao we drove the wheels off those bikes ... even though i wanted the lakota i sure was happy anyways . I cannot belive you found one in the condition !!! WOW IMPRESIVE AND IM JELOUS
Dude those 160s were a blast too though! One of my friends had one and we would hook up sled to it in the snow and for whatever reason, the 160 always did it the best
Love it. Just picked one of these up about 2 months ago, had been wanting for years for a fun easy trail machine. FYI, a Yamaha raptor/banshee/warrior rear hubs will fit on so you can go to a 4/115 pattern Aluminum wheel , and the front pattern on these is a 4/144 so you can also go the the same model Yamahas front wheel and go to a aluminum front wheel. Then you’ll have a lighter front/rear end and more tire options
Hi Mike! Amusing intro mate! You're a funny bugger! Lol! Good fun! Looks like you had a real fun time riding that bike from all the laughing you were doing! Good onya! Any comparisons you do with other bikes oughta be fun too! Glad you found some bits to bolt onto it too. It's all fun fun fun! I had fun!
My daughter rode a Honda 250EX for a few years and loved everything about it except the very stiff rear suspension . A couple years ago I bought her a Lakota 300 because it had longer travel suspension front and rear compared to the Honda . She loves the improved ride and I like the fact that the front end is heavier than the Honda so she is a lot less likely to loop out hillclimbing . It shifts stiff especially when the engine is cold . It was a roach when I bought it . I've done a top end , swingarm bearings , tires , carb work , air filter , rear fender , heated grips , clutch , battery , reinforced the battery hold-down , CDI module , chain and sprockets , and I took your advice and put a nice aftermarket aluminum front bumper from a 400EX on it !
Sounds like a nice little machine you made. From riding both as well, I agree the Lakota has much better suspension. I just may follow suite and make a 400EX bumper fit!
I have an 05 trail blazer, they are an absolute blast, that thing gets abused and it still runs great, I think that episode of top quad is going to be awesome, can’t wait to see it
Something is up with your clutch making it hard to shift and not allowing you to feather the clutch with the shifter. You can do this with all semi autos, they're all basically the same set up with basically a primary clutch and centrifugal clutch. Fun machine! Looking forward to it
you can get the clutch to engage and rev it. you have to actually click it into gear but dont let off the shifter when its up. Then you can clutch dump it.
Haha!!! I remember wanting one of these, among many other ATV's as a kid/teen. My father did purchase a Honda 300 utility. My friend a Bayou 220 and his brother had a Mojave 250. My cousin had a 1989 Honda 250X. All great machines. I pretty sure a few friends had blasters as well. I just remember liking my ATV because it had racks but it was not sporty enough and thought the Lakota would be perfect performance and some had a rear rack installed which would have been perfect since I used to load up camping gear on the weekends and take off into the woods.
Exactly man! As a kid your world is different. I never got to ride a trail boss but the blazer wasn't horrible - of course I was 13 when I rode one lmao
I have an old Honda fourtrax 300 which is 2WD and has the semi auto trans. Great machine fun to toss around. I believe it's a 1986, not positive. Great video as usual keep up the content. 👍
ATV offroad fury 2 memories... my favorite bike before learning what cheat codes were was the Bombardier DS650. I actually saw someone ride one in my hood LOL
What a cool powerful tank hahah, kinda crazy the money it takes to get anything above 20hp for a quad but glad it's still supported, can't wait to see what it looks like.
Great Video Mike!! It is fun to ride a quite stock machine sometimes. Especially in a cool little area and nobody knows your there!! Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see more!
This should be interesting to see. I know the trail blazer can make nearly 40 hp with some porting and a bigger carburetor it will be interesting to see how it stacks up.
I know on the auto clutch machines we rode back when, you would do a full depression/lift of the shifter and it would allow you to rev it up. Not a half way engaged. Anyway cool video. Love seeing the 90-00 stuff
First clutch quad I ever owned was a 87 Mojave back in 93 and in those days it smoked every riding buddy and his machines....utilities, yz80s, 200x's. Good machine
I’ve owned a few mojaves and one thing I known is make sure you loctite the cam retainer bolts the caps will come loose and it will score the cams up and make sure the timing chain tensioner is working properly because with the double overhead cam set up the chain likes to stretch on these motors but other than that they are pretty reliable and fun for a 249cc motor the Kawasaki mojave was the most hi-tech atv on the market in 1987.
My best friend had two when we were kids, I was able to pick one up a few months back and I believe somehow it was the same one he used to own. Excited to see what you do with this because I’m probably going to go the same route with mine 😎
I had one, they're fun. Rebuilt it and someone wanted something they can ride with their kid, so traded the Lakota and some money for a 2008 kfx450r and rode that a while. Bought a 400ex and sold the 450r for extra parts money to build the ex 🤘
Bro I was about to ask you if you played ATV OFF ROAD FURY when you Said it at the beginning.. legit was typing the comment man. First thing I thought when I saw this quad. Man. I wish I wouldn't have sold my dirt bike last year. I've never owned a quad but I'm 1000% sure it's my next move thanks to your vids. I act like I didn't js spend all my money on kids Christmas haha. One day I'll have something else... one day. Until then I'll js watch you build your master pieces and enjoy them... 💯 thank you Mike for all you do my guy
Speaking of ATV off-road fury I think it would be cool to do a replica of a ATV from the first game, I played the crap out of that as a kid and still do to this day 😂
I generally hate pretty much any intro skit to a youtube video but yours always crack me up lmfao also, Lakoter is a gooder imo, cant wait to see more on this thing
I remember when the Lakota first came out it had front and rear racks. Didn't change much during it's run but it was a machine I always wanted to get but never did. Pretty sure same motor as the Bayou 300, but the Lakota had a hotter cam. There were several builds over the years on these I can recall, one was done by the old forum site ATV Connection, probably can't find the write up anymore on it but if you could might be a value to your project. Also I believe Four Stroke Tech used to build these up for xc racing.
@@MichaelSabo I'm trying to find the old build from ATV Connection but I can't find it. I wanna say FST had a 330cc , and like a 383cc kit for them, and also sold a high comp piston kit to .
Video series idea… next top quad, 4 machines. 2 like in every way. Make, Year model and size. One gets high end upgrade parts. One gets low end upgrade parts. 4 quads 4 racers 2 separate platforms. You have shown the difference a rider can make. Now do a High-Low on upgrade parts. (Yes I know donut does this but would be awesome to see in this format).
Here's my brand new pre-owned Kawasaki Lakota Sport 300! What do you guys think? How will this stack up against the Blaster, Trail Blazer and 300EX? Thanks for watching my video by the way 🤘 You ROOCK!!!
You better have a warrior when u do a mini top quad
Great bike mike I own blasters and my buddy had a 300 , both those bikes will dominate the Lakota sport 300 there much more aggressive the warrior I still have for my wife is faster then both blaster and 300ex great great bike but I think the 250ex models z250 would stack up better either way can’t wait to see the series man!

The lakota has pretty good power but it’s gonna be a tough one against the other three bikes especially if they have the big 3 and same amount of upgrades

It's cool seeing you do stuff with the older quads. They just look so right. Maybe we'll see a Tecate 4 someday. Stay awesome bro!
That would be sick! Kinda rare tho. Don't see those very often. Love the pop up headlight.
You can find lots in Michigan. Just all are 5 grand or more
Glad you enjoy it man; I'd love to do a Tecate 4
In your hands it's be cool as gravedigger with some of your badass graphics.

Such a great game
I’m literally sitting on one that my dad bought when I was born. It’s 20 years old now and it still runs. It needs some love, but it still runs.

There were several builds over the years on these I can recall, one was done by the old forum site ATV Connection, probably can't find the write up anymore on it but if you could might be a value to your project. Also I believe Four Stroke Tech used to build these up for xc racing.
No way! I need to check these out; I had no idea people raced these seriously.
@@MichaelSabo I'm trying to find the old build from ATV Connection but I can't find it. I wanna say FST had a 330cc , and like a 383cc kit for them, and also sold a high comp piston kit to .
This should be a great series as usual. Keep up the great work
Rode one of those when I was starting out, back in the day, was a very capable quad, after going from a honda 125 quad.
Oh man, that was probably a big step up from the 125!
Dude please keep doing the skits! Funny stuff!
