POV Tutorial | Latte on the Decent Espresso DE1

A quick POV video of making a latte on the DE1! There's been a ton of interest in the steaming capabilities and usage of the machine. I figured why not address both in a quick video. This was around 8.5-9oz of milk that steamed in a total of ~30 sec. I actually use the group head handle as a support for my wrist when I steam.
I'm by no means an expert latte artist but I've found the steaming speed (especially quality) of the DE1 to be a great balance for texturing milk. While the single tip may not be the fastest, it allows you to have a margin of error when steaming milk. This makes learning how to properly texture milk on the DE1 extremely easy. If you have any questions feel free to ask them.
Thank you for the continued support of the videos. I honestly am surprised and grateful at the reception of the content. I filmed this video at the spur of the moment (hence the 1AM filming time) but I think a POV series of coffee would be super fun. Find me in the /r/espresso discord or on the Decent Diaspora.

Hey Brian, I want to buy my first high end espresso machine. I'm still a noob, just picked up a Niche Zero. I was wondering, what are your thoughts amongst the high end options? I've owned the BDB in the past but I never quite took the time to learn on it, mostly because everything tasted not so great with my Breville Smart Grinder Pro. I know now that the Niche Zero will change all of that. What are your thoughts on the DE1PRO vs Bianca vs Appartamento? Thanks!

Hello Brian I like your video and a very quick question I like to use the DE one with dosing 13 G of coffee beans I use the IMS 12 to 14g Basket,
I know is hard to extract this little amount of coffee with a nice looking shot but anyway do you have any profile recommend and what's the modification I have to do

Hey, great video. What Niche setting did you use? Maybe you can put the settings of the Niche (grind setting) and the DE1 preset in the video description in the future?

Profile is Damian's LM Leva. As for grind setting that's gonna depend between grinder and bean!

Thanks this is helpful! There is no steam wand pre-purge on this machine (to get rid of residual water)?

There pretty much is no residual water at all. The steam is drier than any machine I've ever used.

Hey Brian, is this a DE1XL? Would you be able to do the POV of back to back lattes? I’m curious on the performance of switching between brew and steam then steam back to brew. Like say if you have lots of guests over.

      Hi Jackson,
This is the DE1 Pro 1.3! Sure thing I can shoot a video about back to back drinks. Switching back and forth is instant and there is no delay! Usually, the longest step (in my case) is pulling a shot because of long preinfusion but that depends on what profile you're using. I'm actually putting together a video about the portability of the DE1 which will be perfect for serving parties at friend's places. So you can check that out later on.
Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.

@@BrianQuan thanks for that, one question, is there a limit on the steam power like traditional steam boilers? Would it run out of steam power if kept on?

I so enjoy your technical view on Espresso. The only thing I don’t get is your espresso machine placement. The table right in front of the door? That really distracts me from the great content :)

Haha it's actually by a double sliding door to another room! One day I'll have a more dedicated space to film but for now it's in the kitchen.
