Found my way here from Lance’s channel. The home baristas are getting spoiled with all of this great content from rockstar coffee professionals. What a time to be alive! Thanks, Emilee.
FINALLY SOMEONE EXPLAINS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SMALL AND BIG PITCHER. Many just talk about 'Choose the right size for the number of latte you are making.' Thank you so much!!
She covers basics I didn't know existed, with the focus on using properly sized pitchers and cups and getting you close to the surface so you can start your designs sooner. There's a lot more detail in this video, well worth watching.
In 1 word…WOW! (Okay 3 words and a number) 😊 But seriously Emilee, no wonder you are a multiple time world champion. ALL the tips you make, make so much sense. When you broke tips down to physics/geometry explaining how the shape of the coffee crema changes when tilted sent off fireworks in my brains! Totally makes sense. Great job. Thank you and best of luck in any competitions. 🙏
I think you are the best of the best. You are articulate, clear and easy to understand. Your opinions are backed up by solid thinking and logic. Really great.
I've been dealing with latte art for about 5 years now, I'm not great at it, but nice enough for home. Today I poured from my smaller container to my larger one and WOW! Pouring a heart was much easier and clearer than ever. This video has great advice
This legitimately changed my coffee experience. I have a Breville barista express and have been able to make okay milk but this stepped everything up like 3 notches. I steamed in a cheap little pitcher and then transferred to the bigger default breville pitcher and it’s honestly night and day difference. Thank you Emilee!!!
I would love to see a discussion on milk portioning. As someone who is a solo coffee drinker, I can’t figure a good way to make a cortado or smaller drink without wasting milk. Is there a good way to fill a pitcher with less milk and still have appropriate depth from a steam wand? I love the videos though! Super thoughtful and informative for the at home barista.
No need to waste milk.. just keep resteaming it. 🤷♀️ Drives me crazy to see any milk thrown out. Keep it in the fridge and keep adding fresh milk to your 2 leftover ounces from the previous day… milk steams perfectly fine when it’s cold. Even if it’s been steamed before. Give the cows a break!
@@aliceboney2507 Nice trick! Never thought of it before as I never heard anyone talk about it too. So since it's nearly impossible to correctly steam less than 50-60ml of milk, just add more to help you and avoid steaming milk everywhere and then keep the left over in the pitcher and put the pitcher back to the fridge for the next day?!? 😮
Thanks for putting the time in to making this. 15 years ago or so I could pour Rosetta’s and hearts but getting back into having a decent coffee machine at home my latte blobs are really impressive for blobs. 😁 I will try what you have suggested. From what I have seen of your videos so far they are on the same level as James Hoffman’s. Well done
Such a good explanation about how different cups and pitchers work. I’m so happy I found you🙏🏻 thank you so much!!! Now everything makes so much sense 🙌
I’ve thought this for some time but couldn’t quite put my finder on exactly the best method to do it. Transferring pitchers seems so obvious now but I just hadn’t thought of it, Im glad i’ve heard it from you and know it’s not just me making excuses about why my art sometimes looks better than others.
Thanks Emilee ! Who knew ? Spouts !! Thank you for your great video tutorials !!! I am hooked !!! From a 63 year old Baby Barista in Adelaide South Australia.
It would be kinda cool if the company that made the pichter had like an emilee kit. Which would consist of the pichter she likes with a fill line for cold milk and maybe a line for when the milk is fully expanded and then a cup that matched her recommended spec
WOW, great info on the cup. I had been using a china "mug" shaped cup. So even though it is about the correct volume, the mug shape was probably a major cause of my difficulty. I just replaced it with a cup that looks like Emilee's cup, rounded on the inside. First try was a LOT easier to do 🙂 I still have a LOT of practice to do, but at least I am not fighting the cup now. Thank you. Edit: 2nd day and my milk pours are MUCH better in a round bottom cup, than it ever was with the mug with a squared bottom. As you said, the shape of the cup DOES matter. I've been pounding my head against that problem for years, and the solution was simply a different shape cup.
Thank you so much!! IT's so true...Size matters. Now i'm using a 350 ml for steam milk and than I translate the milk in a 650ml for latte art and all works good....
Thank you Emilee!! I have been watching your videos on and off for two years, but just watched this one, which I understand was your very first video. I believe this is one of the most important videos for anyone who wants to pour latte art. I feel like I have wasted two years, in which case, you are correct to address me as scumbag! I am already using a small rounded cup, but now I will pull out my larger rounded spout pitchers! Thank you again for sharing your wisdom.
This is the second video of yours that I've watched and girl....you are amazingly informational! I've watched other instructional videos and by far yours are the best!
Been watching a lot of videos since getting my breville barista express. My lattes taste fine but I've been frustrated with not getting good latte art! The way you explain everything makes it click for me! Gonna order my 20oz now!!!!
After watching a few other videos and getting an understanding of what makes latte art work, I started pouring into a larger pitcher for basically the exact reason that you lay out here. I'm happy for my thinking to be validated. Thank you.
This was great, thank you! So many little concepts that I was beginning to grasp, but having them laid out so cleanly made them so much more tangible and easy to grasp; lots of things to think about and play with while I'm behind the bar!
really love your video, you are a lovely talented lady. So i just bought my first espresso machine 1 week ago.. and then i had to buy a pitcher and Rhino Coffee Gear seems a good choice as it is not very expensive and it say "Pro" wahahaha... so i was having issues deciding on 360ml/12oz or 600ml/20oz.. but decided on the larger one as i prefer a 20oz cup, but i end up buying an Ikea 9oz coffee round cup... i am glad i bought the larger pitcher as this is also your advice, although now i am steaming milk also in the larger pitcher.. Your explanation on the merits of using a larger pitcher sounds reasonable. Tks for sharing your knowledge! Have a great day!
Wowww the way you touched on cups... No wonder I find it hard to pour Rosetta etc on a double walled cup.. heart is not a problem but other than that it's a struggle. Thanks Ill try on the cup that you use.
Emilee, thank you so so much for being so elaborative in this video. It's perfect! Makes so much sense and there's little to no video content out there that talk about jug sizes and spouts the way you articulated it. Just found you today and instantly subscribed. Thanks again!
I’m so glad I watched this video because even though I got a new pitcher, I was wondering why it wasn’t giving me the output I wanted, and I realize it’s partially due to the spout (that and practice haha). I’ll get a round spout pitcher then
After a year of learning latte art I finally found out the cup size role in laying the base of the art, and the spout shape. THEN I find your video and I have a deeper understanding of what you are saying. The advice I learned from you is the larger pitcher after steaming in smaller pitcher. I will try it I think that will be it. Just ordered 8oz latte cup after been having problems with a clean base in the 12 oz cups with 34g shot. (Too shallow) Edit: the 22oz round pitcher is OOS :(
Haha. I literally went the other direction! Moved from a large round tip to a smaller sharp tip and then wonder why my latte art is suffering? Had to re learn my pour.
Yayyy!!!! I’ve been so excited to see your TH-cam content. Welcome to YT :):) Freaking love the video, mad good quality visually and contentually (is that a word? IT IS NOW :):):)) Cannot wait to see more
This is the video I've been looking for! Why am I just now finding it? Thank you for all the information. It was perfect! Coincidentially, I just got a slightly larger pitcher today with a narrower (but still round) spout and my latte art, on the very first try, got so much better. Now I'm very excited to keep trying and honing my skill.
I really like your videos! They have taught me a great deal, especially how you explain and get very focused on it. There are other champions out there, but they were just bluffing and I only wasted my time watching his video. Time to try the bigger pitcher, I saw this video before, when I could not pour a thing and forgot about the bigger pitcher! Although it is a 32oz 😬.
This is great. I've been following you off and on over the past year or so. I always learn something amazing from you. Whenever my latte art hits a plateau I tune in! Art is science and science is art (well mostly)! Thank you!
Great video (again) Emilee. Question: do you heat up the larger jug before transferring the hot milk from the smaller jug to avoid losing too much heat?
You explained the mystery around so many aspects of latte art so well! Thank you for the detailed explanation, it all makes sense. I have been pouring lattes as an amateur at home for years. I will now try a bigger pitcher with a slower flow.
Learned a lot from this video, particularly the shape of the cups being used, and I couldn’t figure out why I see baristas transfer milk from a small pitcher to a larger one. Thanking you.
This was really well explained, I love your thought process and the way you speak! I was going to go for a sharp pitcher but will wait to see your pouring videos!
Wow you really know your stuff. Extremely good explanation. Very thorough. I was thinking about the benefits of a larger jug before bed and you just confirmed my theory. Thank you for sharing!

So happy I found your video. I only have a small pitcher and have been practicing with it on my 6oz cup. Always had a hard time getting it to the right spot. The big pitcher totally makes sense! Glad I haven't bought a bigger pitcher yet. In search of a round spout as we speak!

Just got my 20oz pitcher and I’m suddenly very good at latte art, big thanks to you and Lance Hedrick!
Haha just like that! I’m so excited to see the art you make!
Welcome to the 20 oz fam
Sorry tooting my own horn there! I’m meant to say ‘improved’ instead of ‘good’
I’m sure you are fantastic
@@EmileeBryant are these the same pitchers that are on wpmcoffee's website? can't tell if that is the original company or a knock off

Thank you for such a concrete, easy-to-understand, explanation. This has already made a huge difference in the way I pour. Subscribed!
I've been told a lot of this stuff several time's, but never told why to do it. You explained everything and the reason behind it so well, thankyou! 😍
I just learned that shapes of cups really matters in integrating latte.....thanks a lot! No other vloggers told me that. Good teacher. ❤
