YEP. I was super mad at them for a few months this summer (because that brand they carry - Voldemort). I finally decided that on balance I shop at other placed that carry products and brands I don't support (Honestly, not often, but Sephora carries Huda and I cannot with her), and I care more about their support of creators than I do them carrying a brand I don't buy. A point I feel I have made evident with my return to shopping in the last 6 weeks. Which was intentional. I really do appreciate them supporting many of my favorite creators. (whispers: also the brushes. Chikuhodo and Hakuhodo are my tippy top favorites, but, well, I love ALL the Japanese brushes and, like cats, feel they all deserve a home with me, especially Miss G).

Thank you for always talking about the fragrance in beauty products. I feel like the industry is restricting so many people from products because of this obsession with added fragrance. It is so frustrating!
This looks really pretty on you. I have really dry mature skin and I can use this. But I did follow Wayne's advice to mix something with it. I mixed CT Wonderglow primer in with it and it was lovely. It didn't crack, separate or bunch up. Just my perspective from someone with very mature dry as dirt skin. Thank you for showing this one and I look forward for your foundation wrap up!

S K I would say be weary and use a light hand. Michele Wang experienced texture issues, but I had some ppl say that their dry skin faired out alright. But definitely prep well, and use sparingly!
@S K - I feel dry skin can use it but it takes extra prep work. I have to use extra moisturizer AND add a luminous primer or a drop of facial oil mixed in with the foundation and use a damp sponge. I don't like it with a brush on me. Also it doesn't take much foundation - less than one pump for my entire face. At present, I don't have obvious dry patches of skin so I cannot attest to how it does over dry patches. My skin is very dry. I also spritz my face with a hydrating mist throughout the day which helps.
@S K - I haven't decided if it is worth it yet as I've only worn it twice. It definitely isn't my first choice of what to wear on a certain day. For dry skin, I like the new ABH Luminous much better. That one is a very pretty foundation on my dry mature skin. I would definitely repurchase the ABH one and probably would not rebuy the Charlotte Tilbury new one.

My sunscreen serves as my primer. Foundation goes on top of primer. No skin care ingredients in the foundation is going to actually touch and penetrate my skin. Love your detailed descriptions and impressions❤️

I love your perspective! Even foundation with sunscreen, you literally need like 2 teaspoons to even have the benefit because it is such a small amount in the foundation. Most people don’t even use that much foundation for the skincare to be effective. Your absolutely right on your ending! Love your videos! I ALWAYS appreciate your honestly and perspective! ❤️
P.S. I have the finishing powder in deep, but only used it only once and think I like it!

Hey, I am a cosmetic formulation chemist / developer and I feel I should mention here that active ingredients for skin care purposes normally included. In the formula at very low percentage (max 3%) sometimes and if they are lower on the list it does not mean they are not effective. That is why they are called active ingredients.
Thank you for your insight. Active ingredients I thought included aha’s, bha’s, retinoids, and L ascorbic acids. Are peptides also included in the that category? With that, I didn’t know algae is considered an active-

Looks nice, love the whole CT look! I really appreciate how you emphasize SPF consistently. I also use it as a primer and NEVER leave my bathroom without it on in the morning. SPF in foundation just isn't good enough to protect your skin from those rays. Good job Alicia, thanks for another great video.
I agree! It’s the best thing I ever did for my hyperpigmentation. And I too will never rely on a foundation to provide adequate sun protection.

I find that this foundation works best with “milk’s” hydro primer. It looks flawless!
You are absolutely correct as a scientist now in beauty anything lower on the ingredient list has very minimal concentration of that ingredient the higher it is on the ingredient list means that the majority of the product consists of that ingredient, good for you for breaking this down I talk about this a lot on my channel.

We seem to like the same types of foundations and have the same shade most of the time so I appreciate your efforts with product reviews. Exactly! I wish more brands understood this! The most effective PR technique is not to get influencers to try to ‘sneak’ in partnerships/sponsorships/relationships, that makes me avoid brands. But a brand reaching out to a BG with integrity who is up front about the behind the scenes relationship always warms me to a brand, so even if a bad review comes out of it, I’m still more likely to buy from Beautylish/Charlotte Tilbury because it enhanced the brand image. Sorry for rant lol

So many foundations. I am looking forward to the roundups to put all the info together. I like watching foundation videos, I enjoy the content but I'm not swayed to ever buy it because I know foundation is one of those things like mascara that everyone has different experiences with. I did try the Make Up Forever Blurring Powder Foundation, yesterday, just to try something different but my shade is out of stock. As always thanks for the nerd portion of the video.

I've always wondered about the efficacy of such ingredients in makeup products, although I agree I wish that all cosmetics would abolish fragrance altogether (even tho Im still using some products with a bit of fragrance cause they were expensive lol)
Will you ever do a fenty hydrating foundation review? Although it does have fragrance I took samples and liked the way it performed on my skin hehe (can't help my fenty bias sometimes._.)
I do as well 🤦🏽♀️ I have a toner that I love, but it has bergamot oil in it 😩 I’m overlooking it because the top 5 are outstanding, and hopefully I won’t develop an allergy to it anytime soon. I have a sample of the Fenty and will at least review with the sample. I did try some, and the finish was lovely. I definitely prefer it over their first formula.

Beautylish is truly your fairy godmother of makeup! ✨✨ I appreciate you giving us the 411 (and a sci-nerd breakdown) on foundations even while not feeling well, you da real MVP! 😊 Beautiful finish, but eh...I haven't tried any CT products, but it's weird how a lot of her stuff can be duped, lol so it's why I don't really bother. I quite liked the NYX CSWS, I just had trouble finding the right shade as my ULTA is like the Upside Down, shattered bottles, no testers, unhelpful salespeople...almost need a hazmat suit going in 😂 Will try to purchase again b/c I really liked the finish. I too also wish that brands would leave the skincare 'benefits' outta of their foundation formulas. I had a serious reaction w/ that new UOMA foundation, a mere swatch test made my nose and throat itch like mad. Never again.
I can’t wait for your round up video !! There’s been so many new foundations. I’m going to pass on this one. I’m not really a fan of matte anymore. I really do love Pat’s foundation. I know that one has a lot of mixed reviews on it. The other one I kind of want to try is fenty’s. But again I’ve heard that looks quite dewy by the end of day. Great video !! There is a shade 7.5 warm that I think would work better in you. The 8 looked a little dark for your skin tone .
Good Morning Alicia; I enjoyed as usual. I was trying to make up my mind for the final day of the sale. I may not test another foundation until later on in the year. If you are wearing 8 warm in CT, then I know I must select 9 warm, if I decide to get the foundation. I do like the way it looks on your skin and I like the fact that you don't have to apply much of the product. I have, however, been paying attention to the reviews for the Milk stick foundation. They are quite good. I have the powder in my cart and am interested in the foundation. I am going to check into the Beet Fluid that you wear. I am in the Sun so much during the day. I feel I need that product.
You will love the Beet Shield. It does have alcohol in it, so beware if you’re sensitive to that. The other one use that is without alcohol is the Purito Centella Safe Sun.

I don’t get what people say about this foundation being expensive? Mac, NARS, Dior, Lancôme are usually around the same price point?
Yep. It's part of why I don't buy Sisley or La Mer or any cosmetic product for the skincare. I think the Sisley compact cushion is stunning on my skin, but the shade range is an atrocity and I actually put a primer over my sunscreen to lock it in and prevent the makeup steps from interfering with my skincare steps (I have dry skin and this works for me, but plenty of people use a sunscreen as a primer as well, it's just the only ones I've found that work well in that capacity are chemical and I prefer to use a physical sunscreen most days, not all, but like 4/7). I do use a couple of Sisley primers, but almost always as a combo with a tinted sunscreen as my base that day. I STRONGLY, STRONGLY feel that the skincare just cannot get through my SPF and also, I don't want to get through my SPF because I am very intentional with my skincare products. I will say that with Char and Sisley and Suqqu, I feel like the skincare gives me what I call cosmetic skincare benefits, meaning it makes my actual skin look better that day. But I do not believe enough can get through my SPF to have anything but a temporary effect. So I might use one of their moisturizers or other products as a post-sunscreen primer or part of my base. But that's MAKEUP. Anything on my skin after sunscreen is makeup. Long story short, when I evaluate the price of a foundation, I never factor in any actual benefits to my skin in whether the price is worth it. It's all about the texture and look and wear and finish. Same with primers. same with concealers. And nothing pre-SPF will have fragrance. After, I really try to weed it out, but I'm not as fussed about it because of the SPF/primer barrier (except that atrocious setting spray Char just released that has so much fragrance I returned it). You're preaching to the choir, Alicia.
I totally agree, and I understand the marketing leverage a product has with skincare benefit claims. I had an interesting “exchange” with someone who felt strongly about La Mer being expensive because of the botanicals. And it was being compared to Pat’s foundation. The first 5 ingredients were nearly identical, and while I understand the means through which these ingredients were formulated can influence their performance- the laundry list of ingredients after the main stage ones I felt weren’t going to contribute anything significant to my skincare routine. Is the finish to die for? Most definitely, but I’m still applying my Tretinoin 🤣
kinkysweat they can pry my trentnoin out of my cold dead hands, along with my sunscreen, vitamin C, 8 million brushes and metallic eyeshadows. Nice foundations with effective ingredient decks are a luxury I enjoy a lot. But I mean, I can go without nice foundation because of the skincare. And I’m sure not saying an ingredient at number 23 is going to change my skin except maybe the finish. Pfft.

Actually because cosmetics are not regulated by the FDA cosmetic industries can only leave a disclaimer of… This product will reduce the signs of… If they claim that It actually Can alter anything physical on an individual then it would have to be approved by the FDA and considered a drug. Again good for you for breaking this down education is key here and I think the beauty community needs to become more and more vocal about digging in deeper when it comes to cosmetics and their claims and that also goes for skin care which is still considered a cosmetic.
Thanks Alicia for the video and your thoughts. It’s def a pass for me. I’m currently using up all my foundations before the expire and only plan on purchasing 2 to keep in my rotation. What those 2 are I have no clue, but I def plan on not purchasing everything that comes on the market because you can’t use them all or better yet don’t need them all.

I love CT though and was looking forward to it. But I’m going to pass. I did get the Anastasia foundation. Not sure yet what I think of it. I haven’t tried ANYthing from Pat McGrath. Can you do a best of Pat? Would love to see a roundup of that.

These colors killedddd me. It was so difficult. I'm 3.5 in the magic foundation and so the suggested color was 4 warm and 4 was so dark it wasnt close. Then I ordered 2 neutral and it was so red on me. I ended up going to 3 warm which is so strange because I'm a neutral undertone but this still comes off a little light for me. It doesnt seem like there is a nice in between 3 and 4 for me like I have with 3.5 in magic. The undertones definitely drove me the most crazy so everyone should definitely go get shade matched for this one

Agree with your it’s not for mature skin and dry skin. I don’t have large pores and this for some reason accentuated my pores.

Hi there! I’ve been watching your TH-cam videos over and over again on the pat mcgrath and Charlotte tilbury airbrush foundations.
We are pretty much the same shade! I purchased Pat McGrath in medium 15 and it is very yellow. It does blend nicely though but Just not so sure if I should keep it or jump to shade 17. Did you prefer the 17 instead? Also I’m not sure which CT shade you ended up with in the end as I believe you were going to try 8.5w? Please let me know which shades you ended up loving :) I plan on making an order for CT soon!
I talked about this during my haul video, and I felt terrible about getting another shade. I returned 15 + 17, and got 16. I hope you won’t be too upset with me. I found that despite 16 having “red undertones” it was the best shade match for me. I thought the CT in 8W was a pretty good match as well
I’m wearing a sample of 4 neutral and I haven’t decided if it’s a good match. But I’m 43 and I’m liking it but haven’t decided to commit to purchasing it. I definitely like the Guerlain Essentiel much more. 5 hour update: I’m not committing to purchasing the foundation it doesn’t wear well because on me it looks make-upy and it does accentuate ALL pores 😞

My no buy ingredient is alcohol. I will not go anywhere near Pat's foundation for that reason. I also don't like fragnance and high coverage that much. But I tend to mix my existing foundations with oil or cream. I am thinking this foundation may be a very good one in that regard (fragnance is annoying!). Will check it out if I can get tester amount from sephora. For now I will stick to my existing foundations.

I haven't smelled the Charlotte Tilbury but I purchased the new girl on foundation and I'm so torn because I love the way it looks on my skin but the smell is so strong. I could smell it over everything at the hospital all day

Why??? Why in the world would someone make a foundation with skincare and load it with fragrance? Most makeup and skincare with fragrance breaks me out.
Funny Ha Ha... how most high end makeup being so expensive they are ruining their makeup with fragrances. We can’t use it on the daily.
Most woman claim their favorite high end foundation is saved for those perfect moments when they want to look their best. - well... isn’t that everyday? The main culprit is the fragrance.
Why can’t they step away from fragrances. It would definitely help them. We would use more of the foundation and not save it for special occasions.

You did not mention the finish, which is the biggy with a lot of testers. There is a very accurate colour finder on the site which matches findation.com. I need a full cover but not thick foundation and this delivers. I have built it up very easily. This is the first time she has extended her range in the darker colours and I will support her for that alone. I like when a brand listens, addresses it without fuss or fanfare.
I mentioned it was a natural matte finish at around 3:12. Unless you’re referring to something else?
No that it is smoothing and pores look much smaller and even in the heat it stayed put. But we all have different skin. Yours looks very smooth without anything so you probs did not notice. Me I have hyperpigmentation from meds’ that I take and pores around my nose that I am At war with. My biggy is that I no longer need orange colour corrector so can actually buff it in like normal people. I am so far very pleased with it.
Ah gotcha: I need to wear it again as yesterday wasn’t a true wear test. Like Sunday I’m teaching three classes, and I think the weather might be humid. And I’ll be sure to report back with photos in my round up video.

I think if you start with a hydrating base, and apply with a light hand you’ll be ok.
