This brings back my Cleo de Nile PTSD, I wanted to keep her gold tinsel but remove the white wispy frayed part because it turned her into a middle aged ghoul. Ended up taking an entire day since I have to split the tinsel from their fray away, then cut the wispy part near the scalp. Her tinsel is rooted at the hair parting & bangs, and it's not fun rooting around in those short bangs trying to grab at the wisps & cut them.
I've been putting off on de-tinseling my OMG Kitty K, like Margot her tinsel is rooted at the hairline & hair parting. Been weighing on whether to cut or pull, cutting is fast but might leave tinsel stubs while pulling might leave tinsel wisps. Thank god MGA dolls' rooting are just plugged in & not knotted or glued(this have its pros & cons too actually).
I literally was de-tinseling My kitty k doll today. I think I got most of the tinsel out. But that did really help alot to get the tinsel out cuz now her hair feels a bit better. It still bugs me tho that anytime I brush her hair it kinda just comes out😓
[She's also my favorite lol doll so I play with her Alot but the tinsel bugs me]

i got my first rainbow high doll (s1 skyler) and obv she had product in her hair and i was so scared to even get water on her body so i didnt wash her roots but she still felt soft (also wow these dolls be big)

So I did this with my zooey Electra! I wont lie I kinda liked her orange tinsel! I thought it was a nice pop of color but for the hairstyles and restyles i was going for, the tinsel just wouldnt work 😂
I did the same process and I was at WAR with her hair, it was crunchy avenue.
All in all I did get every strand out but her scalp has some bits in it but her cap can cover it up
It's funny how the concept of some of new Rh releases work in sketch but in execution is just... Ugh, like the tinsel here *aside glance to Emi's tie shoes *

I have de-tinseled my second kitty k cuz my first one I got I cut the hair cuz it was coming out. But the one without tinsel has Bent feet now. And the browns or her eyes. The color bleed into the whites of her eyes...so I have a defective kitty k and another kitty k with short hair that has tinsel. But her feet are straight and her eyes are perfectly fine......and with kitty k being my favorite lol omg doll. Idk were I can just find a perfect doll of her.
I just boild it and when i brushed her hair a lot of tinsels fell off but ty for this method 😀

I had to come back to this video because I love costume ball Bella but hate the tinsel in her hair
I removed the tinsel from my platinum haired Amaya and as beautiful as her hair is now it is shedding when I gently comb it. I don't know if she was badly rooted to begin with or if the tinsel was helping to hold the plugs in?
I suppose I could place her scalp in boiling water to make the holes smaller? any ideas?

Hmmm not sure it could be a rooting defect. But she does have long hair so it might be normal
For me I would try to get rid of MOST of it but leave some so that it’s not full of tinsel but there is still a little left
