Extra tip: Use qtips to remove dust that might not come off with an air duster. This is especially true if you haven't cleaned your pc in a while as dirt tends to get stickier. You can also use isoporpil alcohol to clean non-electrical things such as the case plastics and/or tainted glass
actually, you can use pure 100% Isopropyl alcohol on electronics to clean things like corrosion, hardened thermal paste etc. although just general maintenence like this there wouldn't be much point other than cosmetic marks on the case etc

Just letting you know 2 years later this video is still helping people out! I thought it was super complicated and you had to disassemble everything and was intimidated, but this shows how simple and quick it really is! Thank you!
Yeah it's prettysimple, my main concern was making sure I was grounded properly before touching internal components. You can easily wear shoes on a solid surface, never carpet, and I always make sure to frequently touch the metal case to discharge any particles of static I might have. You never know how sensitive some of the components are, so if you want to, you can use a grounding wire attached to your wrist and touching something grounded, a wall socket, a metal rod, etc. 3:58

Hey dude, what RPM would you suggest for a dust blower? There's a lot of options on amazon ranging from 50,000RPM to 110,000. What's best without damaging anything?
tbh most dust blowers have different modes of rpm, as long as you stick to holding the fan to stop it spinning etc, you should be alright. Just picked up a 60-100k rpm one and it works fine.
I REALLY wouldn't suggest a Shopvac! If it's anything like mine it generates a lot of static electricity, and you certainly don't want to fry your components while cleaning it out.

Perfect explanation; thank you for the reality check. You have encouraged me to start cleaning mine more regularly. The inside of my PC is caked with dust. I can't help that I live in a dusty room and I hardly ever clean it - yeah i've lost all self respect. Would this work? I got my first gaming pc and since then thise got me so anxious! A few questions though apart from unplugging it from the power, many ppl mention the term 'grounded'. What exactly is that and how do I make sure to secure my pc from static?
@@YourPersonalGeek Thank you. I saw some horror reels on Instagram about it and it got me a bit panicked. But I'll make sure to follow all the steps in the video. It's very informative and simple. Thank you 👍🏻
No it’s fine just hold the fan blades so they don’t spin out of control! Try to do it outside too or use an air filter in your room if you’re going to do it in there so dust doesn’t just settle back inside
As long as you maintain your air compressor and you're not blowing condensation into your PC you'll be fine. Just er on the side of caution and don't put too much direct pressure onto the components by blowing it too close
Is there anything else you need to do. I know theres thermal paste you have to put somewhere but is there anything else besides just cleaning it. I noticed my pc has been quite loud recently even after cleaning it
@YourPersonalGeek Do I need to take out any charge the computer may have in it from a capacitor or something? I don't want to shock myself while cleaning a computer. Also how well do you think a shop vacuum would do at cleaning out a computer? I also live where it is currently very cold, highs right now aren't even hitting the twenties, and this would be a great solution because I have a shop vac for cleaning the basement. It would be a great if i can simply use that and not have to buy an air duster.
is there a recommended psi range, seems to be 50 to 70 psi from my online research, but no definitive industry standard unfortunately, i guess, make sure the blowing device is rated, or has adjustable psi? i dont want to blow components off the motherboard :D. So far as safety goes, could i offer a tip for the next update video, possibly mention some PPE stuff like eye glasses and dust masks. I was also wondering with GPU, i hear that there is actual electrical current that even when disconnected can pass through the circuit board from allowing fans to spin fast under cleaning via compressed air, was good that you stopped them from spinning, often over looked on these instructional videos. thanks for sharing
Unfortunately my room doesn’t have good airflow so it tends to get dusty quick. Definitely going to pick up an air duster like the one you’re using, that’d be insanely useful.
So with a radiator, wouldn’t the dust from the fans just stick onto the radiator? And one more question- I’ve heard that using powerful air blowers/compressors to blow away dust can cause static electricity and ruin your pc. Is that true?
If fans are blown backwards they create electricity and such, not good when the things in the motherboard are built to send electricity when it comes to the fan
I have never used anything that blows INTO the tower. Dont know where dust could get jammed into. I have always had my shop vac in one hand and with a clean paintbrush, I gently collect the dust and just pop the paintbrush over to the shop vac hose to take away the dust bunnies. Only thing that goes inside the case is that paintbrush.
It’s been about 5 month since I have gotten my pc and I didn’t clean it yet, it’s not very dusty. So do I just clean it how you did? Also can you tell me if I should buy the air duster from Bestbuy, Amazon, or Canada computers.
i heard in another video that you can short some of the circuits by spinning your fans with air, even if everything is unplugged, is this true or just clickbait
not sure if you'll see this but what software did you use for that moving wallpaper? hoping to make one myself but cant find any tools that allow adding clocks.

Wondering if ive been getting lucky or if i can also just do this on my pc. If so itd make it soooo easy to clean out as this thing is very strong with the cone nozzle attachment on.
Hello! love the video. I was wondering if you could share the link for the air duster you have in the video. I am very picky with what I buy so I want to get something you swear by or vouch for.
Quick question, does the air duster suck or blow? Because I don't think I'll be able to get one of these and thought of using the vacuum cleaner instead
Nooooo, please don't use a vacuum cleaner at any cost. It generates static that could potentially damage components. Air dusters are the most proper way to go for it. Compressed air canisters could also do the trick but there is potentially some liquid inside those too which could be dangerous.

This time, I'ma be spending a bit more and buy a rechargeable blower like yours. I believe the smaller nozzle of this can help me accurately reach out things inside my pc next time. Thanks!
You used a vacuum? Vacuum’s create static so that likely fried one of your components. Do you still have the pc?
Why? what happened with your pc?
much appreciated. this is my first serious gaming desktop/rig, having only just upgraded from laptops and console. i'm scared i might do something wrong lol.
You got this 🤝
I just ordered my first pc how has it been so far
@@Jaykurosakii it's been going good. i haven't actually cleaned it myself just yet, but it's happening in the very near future. there isn't much accumulation to begin with anyway for now, but i just want to be a step ahead.
enjoy and have fun. you'll love it.
Perfect explanation; thank you for the reality check. You have encouraged me to start cleaning mine more regularly.
The inside of my PC is caked with dust. I can't help that I live in a dusty room and I hardly ever clean it - yeah i've lost all self respect.
Would this work? I thought to drape something like mosquito netting over the case, speakers and the desk it all sits on (monitor sits forward and below the case) - that netting should work, right? Create sort of a outer filter to clean the air that gets pulled in? Hope you can advise - Thanks again
might cause unwanted heat if it’s too close to the pc but i do get what you’re saying
@@CASHCOREICEY I'll just clean it. I bought the right powered leaf blower for the job. Playing games, so far, i'm not seeing any dangerous temps, so i can procrastinate a bit more. lol
@@KingdomUploader leaf blower?!?! lol 😭😭! i just bought some canned air today at walmart and it definitely cleaned it up. i wasn’t experiencing any problems with my pc bc it’s only 4 months old but id rather clean it now before it gets bad. because some dusk can get pile up and get stuck behind parts if u wait too long.
i giggled when you said leaf blower but hey if it works, why not I suppose
I got my first gaming pc and since then thise got me so anxious! A few questions though apart from unplugging it from the power, many ppl mention the term 'grounded'. What exactly is that and how do I make sure to secure my pc from static?
I wouldn't worry about static at all in my opinion but that's just me
@@YourPersonalGeek Thank you. I saw some horror reels on Instagram about it and it got me a bit panicked. But I'll make sure to follow all the steps in the video. It's very informative and simple. Thank you 👍🏻
Is it safe to use inside the GPU Fans without disassembling it? Or will the dust go more further in?
No it’s fine just hold the fan blades so they don’t spin out of control! Try to do it outside too or use an air filter in your room if you’re going to do it in there so dust doesn’t just settle back inside
Is it ok to use a garage air compressor? It has a knob to adjust the pressure so not to much will come out.
I noticed my pc has been quite loud recently even after cleaning it
Can we use the regular hair dryer with a cold air setting? Will it be safe, or is it just a stupid idea?
@YourPersonalGeek Do I need to take out any charge the computer may have in it from a capacitor or something? I don't want to shock myself while cleaning a computer. Also how well do you think a shop vacuum would do at cleaning out a computer? I also live where it is currently very cold, highs right now aren't even hitting the twenties, and this would be a great solution because I have a shop vac for cleaning the basement. It would be a great if i can simply use that and not have to buy an air duster.
Don't use a vacuum. It can cause ESD.
Wait so you're saying do NOT do it inside your home? Cuz the dust will stay in there ?
At least do it in a different room yeah preferably outside though or in your garage or something
What about the filters for the gpu and stuff like that? What if the dust accumulated enough to just cake them
is there a recommended psi range, seems to be 50 to 70 psi from my online research, but no definitive industry standard unfortunately, i guess, make sure the blowing device is rated, or has adjustable psi? i dont want to blow components off the motherboard :D.
Plan on getting an air duster for my pc, I built it 2 years ago and it's high time for some cleaning.
i use a moist woollen gloves to clean the stubin dirt on the fans if i can't get it with air.
Wool? Sounds like a recipe for ESD
How do u clean it without any air stuff can u use a towel or something, haven’t cleaned pc since like 2017 or 16
I’ve always been using compressed air x2 to clean out my pc and it starts freezing up after a little bit but an airduster is nice and rechargeable
Yeah rechargeable is super nice
no one should have a mesh filter for their top fans unless those fans are intakes which in itself doesn't make sense because heat rises.
My friend used an air duster to clean his motherboard, his motherbaord died and his cpu too.
How often do you recommend doing this?
When you see some dust accumulate
I have never used anything that blows INTO the tower. Dont know where dust could get jammed into. I have always had my shop vac in one hand and with a clean paintbrush, I gently collect the dust and just pop the paintbrush over to the shop vac hose to take away the dust bunnies. Only thing that goes inside the case is that paintbrush.
thanks for the straightforward video!! been depressed and haven’t cleaned my pc in a long time-time to clean my dusty pc!! 💪
I’m always super Paranoid about static electricity when I reach my hand in there should I be
It’s been about 5 month since I have gotten my pc and I didn’t clean it yet, it’s not very dusty. So do I just clean it how you did? Also can you tell me if I should buy the air duster from Bestbuy, Amazon, or Canada computers.
Nice vid, bro! I'mma buy an air duster.
Worth it!
@@YourPersonalGeek 💯
Thank you, especially for the bearing protection tip 🙂 I also have an electric air duster on the way
They work amazingly, one of the best purchases I have made to be honest
i heard in another video that you can short some of the circuits by spinning your fans with air, even if everything is unplugged, is this true or just clickbait
not sure if you'll see this but what software did you use for that moving wallpaper? hoping to make one myself but cant find any tools that allow adding clocks.
Its probably wallpaper engine on steam
Youre right
@@YourPersonalGeek Oh hey, still responding to old videos, cool! Thanks for the TUT man, Ive been meaning to clean mine forever I just keep forgetting to lol
I need to so bad being I’m in the laundry room creates so much dust from the dryer, clean that PC homie 🤝
Hey@@YourPersonalGeek, thanks for the video! On this same topic, I was wondering if you could share which wallpaper yours is? I've been looking for it for a while and it's perfect for my setup.
My father has a air blower, verrryy strong that is used for drying his motorcycle when he washes it, i use it on my laptop and consoles. Wondering if ive been getting lucky or if i can also just do this on my pc. If so itd make it soooo easy to clean out as this thing is very strong with the cone nozzle attachment on.
Does a vacuum cleaner work? Heard things saying against it but I don't got much other equipment.
Great video keep it up
Thanks brother!
Hello! love the video. I was wondering if you could share the link for the air duster you have in the video. I am very picky with what I buy so I want to get something you swear by or vouch for.
Is there a preferred air duster or are all pretty strong?
they all have different modes of rpm built in the dust blower so any of them will do.
What about a mini vacuum for keyboards? can we use that cleaning the dust from the inside?
Great shirt! I got one myself. Thanks for the pc cleaning tips
@@leonecartelreborn9628 Alright, thank you very much
