@@devinwashington4160 thanks! Ive been doing paint correction for ten years. I started watching TH-cam videos. I learned a lot from Larry ammo NYC channel in beginning! Then I learned my own methods and just tested everything and expiremented on test hoods and my own cars to see what techniques worked better or worse. Learned how each manufacturer paint was different and what methods best fitted each kind of paint. I work nearly from when I wake up to when I go to sleep. So in one years time I believe I learned nearly twice as much as the average person because I was so OCD about learning. I dont recommend that approach... I don't think it's exactly healthy lol. If you'd like to learn about sanding id recommend Jason from kxk dynamics. He has TH-cam videos and is probably One of the best wet sanders and dry sanders in the world. Rupes has a lead paint correction guy whose name is escaping me but he is also extremely talented and has some great content. I think both of these guys have done videos with obsessed garage. Lots of really incredible information from very talented people on TH-cam on paint correction and wet sanding! Great start but you gotta put your hands on a car to fully learn!!!
Wild to see that sanding technique and how that hood was treated afterward.. need to be sanding Florida to Oregon or California to Maine. Not north and south or east and west. And if you're worried about heat, as you correctly mentioned, you should be running rotary wool and not a 21 DA and leaning on the poor panel. Cooler paint cuts quicker and more effectively, heated paint swells and masks defects. Really like to see the artistic and creative side that goes into bulking PPF like you do, wildly inefficient and time consuming way to do it, but it's neat to see the problem solving and thought process that goes into the final result.

@@charlesnew1289 If it's keeps inside it'll almost last indefinitely to be honest. The biggest thing that wears it is just being outside exposed to the elements and primarily exposed to sun and UV. Overtime that will wear it down and make it fade just like the sun literally makes everything fade. With other cars inside or outside it will have a 10-year warranty. But if you're talking about a car that's being driven once or twice a week and then only parked inside and then maybe also never driven in winter that film will theoretically last far longer than ten years. It is a good idea at the 7 to 10 year mark to consider removals especially if the car was outside and okay amount as opposed to literally always being inside. We recommend this time frame simply because the removal will go smoother and be less of an issue. The longer you wait especially when the car is being outside and then the sun and UV you run into issues with removal where it can come off in small chunks and that can be an issue that becomes very expensive but can also lead to paint damage. This is rare And I've only really seen that kind of issue I'm film that's like 20 years old I'm older generation cars with older generation film. In general I'd say it's a good practice to not let it sit that long on the paint!

@@dixonkGT3 thanks! I don't believe it's possible to one piece this unless your like a magician lol. So it will require some relief cuts. They are hidden on the backside pretty well
Instead of a re-paint...why not another coat or 2 of clear coat? Wouldn't that fill in those pit marks while allowing for a "thicker" layer to polish without the risk of burning through to the paint?
@@jbarryclkrec a good question for a body shop. But I do believe they would sand before spraying more. Generally speaking spraying clear can lead to a lot of issues. Plus it needed it on the wing and roof. So they would need to mask the entire car for roof. Risk of oversprsy is high.
@@imwilki typically speaking if you pink wreck something with polishing or mediumish sanding you don't reclear the entire thing about body shop. There are lots of risks and things I can go wrong with that in the orange peel might not match afterwards. The only time in my opinion you should be re-clearing a panel as if you burn through it or if you need to do something to the color code underneath like repair multiple rock chips
I would've rejected accepting a car of far less value than this if it had half the imperfections that this had. But on a more positive note, the music remixes on this video were unreal!
@@sAmiZZle82 glad you enjoyed them ! The issue with rejecting a car like this is that it's a rare numbered car. If you reject it you're definitely not getting another one. So it's accept this one or have a less special standard 911. With or without defects this car will appreciate. All you have to do is hold it for a year or two and you could flip it for like a hundred grand over the MSRP. So am I ask opinion if you don't take delivery of a rare car like this you're basically throwing a lot of money into a blender. Not to mention every problem has a solution in this ones solution ultimately wasn't that big of a deal if you know the right guy to fix it
@ststus detail is it too high of an expectation to have ZERO dust specs underneath PPF? Also, can you remove any dust specs if it’s 1/2-3/4” away from a curved edge without redoing the entire panel?
A full body install usually has a spec of dust or two somewhere. It should be small. If it's a massive thing it should be redone. If you have like 6 in one panel it should be redone. If dust is found like 30 minutes after a install in center of panel... Redo. You will ruin it trying to get out basically
Funny, all that looks like Port Damage. I work at a Shipping port and u be surprise what happens to cars when we drive them on/off.. But looking at some of that paint. Some is from the factory.. But Ppl gotta remember that these cars are built and the sit for weeks outside with No Protection at all. Until it's time to ship out. And they move them around a lot. So, it's no telling what the car is going look like when it gets to the dealership.. But Good Luck!!!
@@Doshinkyo I think that's roughly accurate. In my experience the normal cars like the Macan etc or actually in halfway decent shave it's the GT special cars that are usually the rougher ones. I suspect sometimes it's because they try harder or have different people or departments painting these more rare colors and that's when a lot of the problems begin to happen

But you do learn and progress very rapidly!!! You also forget to eat and routinely miss family functions etc lol.

Man that pitting. We did a GT3 RS recently where where the carbon wing was covered in it. Showed through the PPF too. Being carbon with just clear, we told the customer and said we aren’t gonna risk sanding it, compounding made it slightly better, but man, what a dissapointment.
@@Obsessioncardetailing bummer! You can definitely sand carbon clear but as you might know Porsche clear on carbon is delicate. Risky to even PPF lol. So that's a tough situation for sure

Great vid, excellent work! Question, the film provider advised me they won’t film the headlights on a Porsche. There was not one dust nib or swirl in any of the 3. The dealer screwed them up. I have seen many 992s at dealers in NJ and PA where i live and they were all flawless. Defects on this car rare but general defects are common. If you have had good luck that's wonderful 👍
If you keep car garaged, how long will PPF last? Is there some way to tell when you need to change it?

Why not correct and then relaquer to maintain clear coat thinkness having levelled it down??
