Hey, really love these sort of POV travelling videos! I work at a Finnish regional airport (not in Helsinki, though I've done short gigs there). My personal recommendations in Helsinki airport are the Runway Bar in the arrivals hall (sign visible at 13:05 in the video) and Richie's Hot Dogs (before security) in the arrivals hall (you can order them at Runway Bar too) or (after security) at Gate 19.

Thanks for the video! 3:35 The Moomins are Finnish cartoon characters, popular in the Nordic region and Japan especially, there's even a Moomin theme park near Tokyo. I have often flown on the Heathrow-Helsinki route you took, I love how Finnair also uses bigger widebody aircarft on their short haul routes, thats unusual in Europe. The railway station at the airport is built really deep underground. One reason is that In Finland, many of the underground facilities also function as bomb shelters as required by law. Thanks for the info! When I landed in Helsinki, I had no idea who the Moomins are. But, walking to my apartment, as seen in my next video -- th-cam.com/video/nlLrhgUlz00/w-d-xo.html - I happened to walk through a park named after the author of the Moomin books and looked her up. So I am now educated on the Moomins and will need to get a Moomin souvenir when I get the chance. -WMM

We will be taking this trip next July for the first time can you tell me how long did it take once you got off the plane until you got on the train.

I would plan for about 1 hour to accommodate waiting at passport control and baggage claim, and buying ticket. Your train ticket is also good for taking the tram the city, I am told. You can see my other Helsinki videos for more info.

I'm sorry you weren't given proper advice concerning the ticket purchasing. 😔 Some time ago, the train operator gave up on actual ticket offices and forced everyone to either use an app or buy tickets from R-kioski franchise (where you went). There is, however, the third option to use a ticket machine, usually located on almost every station (but sometimes broken). I detest the culture of self-service, personally.
