Hi guys, thanks for joing, have you been to Finlnad? Have you tired finnish food? What did you like? Was there anything new or interesting for you in this video?

Well, yeah. I live here. :) Was nice to see your visiting Turun Linna and after that Cafe Art. It's my home city, you should come and visit when it's summer. Turku is amazing then when it's warm and riverside is full of people and different markets if there are theme days. Räiskäle/lettu is what you should try when in Finland. It's like a thin pancake, kind of greasy (compared to other countries) but amazing. You can have it with jam and cream or some other things. Usually you can smell those places like 50 metres away.

Thanks for another outstanding video. What I like best in Finnish food is general and that is the freshness and purity, the lack of preservatives and additives. What I like best in particular are rhy bread in it’s many forms and salmon soup, barley porridge, korvapuisto and anjovoisruisleipe- anchovy on rye with egg butter- yummy,

You don't need to add a line to switch a row mid word, only thing it does is makes it harder to read, the text adjusts itself so there's literally no reason to do that, basically idk what you even wrote.

There would be a lot to say about berry dishes, Berries are cooked in many ways, they are very abundant and varied, There are fresh juices, slightly thicker soups to be eaten hot or cold accompanied by liquid, thick or whipped cream, The berries are also there as main ingredients, in the manufacture of syrup, airy mousses, smooth creams.....
The traditional Sami breads adopted by the whole population, made from flour or potatoes, "Rieska", are excellent for making toast or sandwiches, the Rieska are similar to other breads based on the same methods, it is a bread dough not very different originally cooked on a hot stone, a pan, it is between tortilla, nan, fougasse.
There are dishes specific to Finland, such as the use of "Terva", vegetable pine tar and salty licorice "Salmiakki".
One thing I miss in France, where there is "pig blood sausages" that I can't eat because it's too fatty for me, is the pancakes and cakes made with calf's blood, which come from the traditional recipe. made from reindeer blood, today there are also brownie versions in Finland,
As a child I ate a hearty breakfast in Finland, the most important meal traditionally in Finland, I miss this traditional breakfast, blood pancakes, marinated salmon and herring, rye breads, berries in many forms like the "Veli" and "Vispipuuro".....

    • @ATWKate

Siskonkorvsoppa is one of my favorites too. The name has nothing to do with 'sister', though. Siskonkorv is a type of sausage, korv is the same as makkara in Finnish.

My favorite finnish dish has got to be the Vety. It's a steamed meatpie (preferrably bought from Kesämäen leipomo, a bakery in Lappeenranta) stuffed with a sliced boiled egg, ham, ketchup and mayonnaise, although it can also sometimes be served with pickles and/or mustard in there aswell. Vety is a very popular dish in the city of Lappeenranta, a fairly large city in the south-east of Finland. I seriously recommend trying it out, unless of course you're vegetarian or vegan.

Hi there! Korvapuusti is a translation of the Swedish name 'örfil', used by Swedish-speaking Finlanders. In neighboring Sweden they call the bun 'kanelbulle', cinnamon bun. 'Örfil' means a slap on the ear (ör, öra, is the same word as ear in English). Örfil and korvapuusti are translations of the French word 'giffle', meaning just that, to box someone on the ear. A Swedish brand named Pågens Gifflar, also sold in Finland, actually consists of mini-sized cinnamon buns.
One theory about the origin of the name is that the buns have the same shape as the hairdo with two 'buns' of hair over each ear that was popular a long time ago - and can still be seen - in several European countries, mostly but not exclusively, in the German-speaking regions.

This was interesting to watch and was well done. I lived in Finland for about 7 years and am also married to a Finn. Food is definitely driven very much by culture and if you are coming from a culture where spices are used regularly and fresh greens are more prevalent, Finnish food definitely lacks those elements. However, what is local in Finland is usually quite fresh as you stated and which I appreciated while there. Also, a food worth mentioning in my opinion, although not vegetarian, is muikku (in English, vendace). I guess the closest thing I would compare them to is a sardine.

3:15 I don't have confirmed source but my grandmother told me the origins of the name. So the name "Korvapuusti" comes from olden days in Finland where Korvapuusti was really rare treat. Because it was so rare mom's would lure missbehaving kids to them and give them "Korvapuusti"(pinch from the earlobe) as a punishment.
I'm not sure if it is true.

For vegan side I would also recommend nyhtökaura which is bean and oat protein based meat substitute. I actually even like härkis and nyhtökaura if they're seasoned properly if not they're kinda bland. There is also fallero from s-market only which is a falafel substitute from different ingredients. Personally those were the foulest tasting food I've eaten in a while. Dog loved those though. 😂 Mifu is vegetarian, haven't tried that so can't say anything about it.

Onion would probably be very good and bell pepper as well but i hate bell peppers so not for me, i think redbeets would go well, also maybe jalopenos because they're something i actually kinda like coz a bit spicy.
