I always picture that it was The TARDIS who warned Ace before they fell out. Not just the psychic senses. Basically, telling her that he sometimes goes too far and she'd hate anything happening to her. Hell, Torchwood literally has a Pterodactyl, and where did Ace end up?
I picture his TARDIS singing, "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" to Ace. Even though the song itself refers to The Lord of the Flies, it's almost like it got to that point in the majority of bad timelines.
