I always love that look in David Tennants eyes in the beginning of the video since you can tell he isn't acting there. He is a small boy meeting one of the first Doctor Who companions he ever saw on TV.
To be fair, he's also acting. Acting isn't just feeling; it's also craft. Sometimes when we casually say someone wasn't "acting," we're brushing aside the work they did to make it appear so natural.

They didn’t know at this point Moffat was going to come along and cram a war Doctor in here to make to it 7 times. The writer here was definitely talking about when she left the fourth doctor. Not the meeting with 5 to make it the official half a dozen. There’s no foreshadowing here it just turned out to be a happy coincidence.
Also in her own show when the slitheen first get mentioned she says she remembers them because of "something a friend said" referring to rose which is just perfect continuity
They filmed a Sarah Jane Adventures scene from my Nan’s drive. It’s the one where the Slithereen block out the sun or something, it just consisted of them running down the street and looking in shock at the sky. It was amazing, I was a kid and a doctor who fanatic. I got picked up from school with my holographic Dr Who backpack on and everything, it was a total surprise. I got to meet all the cast who were lovely to me. I saw a sneek peak of the episode’s villain and autographs from and pictures with everyone. Unfortunately, I had them all in a memory box that I lost in a fire a few years ago. I’ve got the memory of it all though. Seeing this brought back a lot of memories.

For example I saw a spitfire plane on the property when we were driving past one day- not long after, the episode with the darleks in ww2 came out

Love Sarah Jane (especially at the end the 3rd Doctor's era), but gotta love K9. Perfect antithesis to the Daleks: where they are living tanks full of hate, he is a living tank full of love and faith.
I loved K9 - thought he was a much needed addition - but as time went K9 kind of became a crutch like the sonic screwdriver. When the writers didn't know where to go they would insert K9, who was able to fix whatever situation they had. Still, I suspect that K9 will be showing up for the 60th (supposedly it was on the "banned" list for Power of the Doctor, along with Donna) and that will really be nice to see.

The First and Second Doctors wore near identical outfits for their entire runs. The only changes in clothes during the regeneration were that the checkered pants were a slightly different pattern that would have been too hard to see on screens at the time, and his waistcoat and gloves were discarded. He retained the cloak he was wearing. You're pointing to a small visual continuity error as if it is comparable to clothes visibly regenerating.

These modern Who callbacks gave me real goosebumps as they recalled not only the classic series history but also my own as I remembered the much younger me watching them as they were first broadcast all those years ago..
Thank you for the nostalgia trip. I grew up with the Adventures of Sarah Jane Smith since it was first aired and watched every single episode right up to the final one. I loved all the Doctor Who references and call backs and of course when the Doctor made an appearance. I was devastated when I heard of Elizabeth’s passing. She was truly a worthy companion that deserved her own spin off series.
I strongly suspect that when he said "half a dozen times since we last met" the writers were counting from Four to Ten without factoring in Sarah Jane's appearance in The Five Doctors or the War Doctor. But if you do it correctly it does work out, so eh... And if there was one companion that he would let on about the War Doctor, Sarah Jane was probably her.
What's cool is that the "half a dozen times" was probably an accident since I'm sure the War Doctor wasn't a thing or even an idea way back when that was first filmed, meaning he only regenerated 5 times from last seeing her in The 5 Doctors and that episode. i am also convinced that if Lis Sladen was alive to play Sarah Jane in The Power of the Doctor it would have seen her meeting Tegan for the first time again and not recall their previous first meeting in The Five Doctors.

Having recently rewatched "the Hand of Fear" and "the Pyramids of Mars" I have reevaluated my opinion of Sarah Jane and have moved her up in my Companion list to nr. 3, after Rose Tyler and Ace. You go girl!
This was good. I have tears 😢 in my eyes now seeing this. This was as good a tribute to the character Sarah Jane Smith and all she encountered on the show. Ashame Elizabeth Sladen didn't live long enough to take part in next year's 60th anniversary, I'm sure they would have asked her to cameo in some form or another.

Elizabeth Sladen was my first crush as a wee lad all those many years ago. For myself nobody has come close to matching up with Sarah Jane as a companion.
I grew up with Tennant, but I had one DVD of Tom Baker featuring the Daleks and Sarah Jane. Fast forward only a couple years, to the pilot episode of the SJA. I felt like I knew a secret the other kids didn’t. Got to love a good Easter egg
No, it was a happy accident. He was created because Christopher Eccleston didn’t want to come back. Steven Moffat even sat down with Eccleston and talked with him about it and everything, but he thought it would be better not to try to convince him, and it made more sense anyway, given the Ninth Doctor’s comment upon seeing his ears in the first episode and all. But yeah, fixing the math from the Tenth Doctor’s line to Sarah Jane was just a cool coincidence.
The weird part is, despite it being the title of a 4 part story that mentioned it many times, this is the first time we actually see the titular Pyramid of Mars from the outside. I couldn't find a single establishing shot of the pyramid in the original story. Probably too expensive at the time to make a model of it.
I'm sorry but the scene with Sarah Jane and Three is so funny because "Smith" sounds like an alias but the fact that The Doctor uses it and then meets Sarah Jane who is actually "Smith" 🤣 why do I feel like Three thought Sarah's whole name was an alias (instead of just Smith) up until she actually tells him the truth 🤣

Love how when they wrote "half a dozen times" they were likely referring to the time since the 4th doctor. But with the war doctor coming into the picture, it's actually more accurate as to the time she met the 5th doctor

Love it when her and rose go back and forth about the villains but damn Davros and Sarah is AWESOME! Genesis of the Daleks is STILL one of the best Doctor Who Stories EVER.
Having recently rewatched "the Hand of Fear" and "the Pyramids of Mars" I have reevaluated my opinion of Sarah Jane and have moved her up in my Companion list to nr. 3, after Rose Tyler and Ace. You go girl!

This was good. I have tears 😢 in my eyes now seeing this. This was as good a tribute to the character Sarah Jane Smith and all she encountered on the show. Ashame Elizabeth Sladen didn't live long enough to take part in next year's 60th anniversary, I'm sure they would have asked her to cameo in some form or another.

Elizabeth Sladen was my first crush as a wee lad all those many years ago. For myself nobody has come close to matching up with Sarah Jane as a companion.

I grew up with Tennant, but I had one DVD of Tom Baker featuring the Daleks and Sarah Jane. Fast forward only a couple years, to the pilot episode of the SJA. I felt like I knew a secret the other kids didn’t.

No, it was a happy accident. He was created because Christopher Eccleston didn’t want to come back. Steven Moffat even sat down with Eccleston and talked with him about it and everything, but he thought it would be better not to try to convince him, and it made more sense anyway, given the Ninth Doctor’s comment upon seeing his ears in the first episode and all. But yeah, fixing the math from the Tenth Doctor’s line to Sarah Jane was just a cool coincidence.

I love the subtle reference to Sutehk and the Pyramids of Mars with the Nasa rover.
The weird part is, despite it being the title of a 4 part story that mentioned it many times, this is the first time we actually see the titular Pyramid of Mars from the outside. I couldn't find a single establishing shot of the pyramid in the original story. Probably too expensive at the time to make a model of it.

I'm sorry but the scene with Sarah Jane and Three is so funny because "Smith" sounds like an alias but the fact that The Doctor uses it and then meets Sarah Jane who is actually "Smith" 🤣 why do I feel like Three thought Sarah's whole name was an alias (instead of just Smith) up until she actually tells him the truth 🤣
