    Hey Bro, Thanks for sharing your skill and effort, please tell me whether timing the engine is required after changing head gasket or can it be avoided after carefully marking everything and placing everything back in the correct order? Thanking you greatly

    Great video. I have done the same job and he's right, the a/c and p/s brackets were a nighmare. Anyone considering this job, I would remove the engine first, it's a piece of cake with the engine out.

    I can take that apart no problem. Getting it back together correctly? Well thats another issue entirely.

    I've got a 2000 lincoln ls v8 with the same motor that has a bent valve on the driver's side. Is there any way to get that side head off without completely removing the front cover (e.g. maybe loosening it a bit)?

  • @sterlingwitherspoon5709
    @sterlingwitherspoon5709 ปีที่แล้ว

    I remember when I had to do a timing chain on the Lincoln LS 2001. Man that AC bracket was a pain in the ass. Bit after sitting there and observing for a while I made a easier way to remove it. And those two pumps on each side were kind of hard to but I got it all done. Same platform.

    Hey Marc, where do you work in southern Cal, I have a 2013 Jaguar XF 3.0 S/C, 68,000 miles with either a blown head gasket or a cylinder three fuel injector that needs to be replaced. These are the two diagnosis I received by two separate mechanics here in Thousand Oaks, CA. Wondering if you’re nearby to me and if so if you can look at the car and give me a quote on the repair?

    Hey is it better to take off the whole engine and transmission.. I feel that way you can be more organized when you take apart the engine

    Hey brother,nice job,and nice filming also.I've been a tech for over 20 tears,but almost all was ford,or chevy.Sure,i did some imports as well,but never anything this big.I'm about to undertake some headgaskets on a Jaguar,for a fellow brother/neighbor,and i'm a little nervous.But I loved your little positive spin at the end,"It's all nuts and bolts,at the end of the day".So it seems i'm gonna have to mark basically everything,when it comes to those timing chains/gears etc.

    • @marcgreenmountain6062
      @marcgreenmountain6062  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Wanderer yes mark everything with with a small punch. And a paint pen on the chain. What i do is mark my cam phraser to the cam caps than I make the chains where they sit in the phraser. Good luck

    • @jerodbrown18
      @jerodbrown18 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much,for your kind reply.To be honest,i've done very little work on European cars,after a really bad experience,on one.(Someone,instead of replacing/or removing a thermostat,just TAPPED it,so it would get stuck in the block! Lots of fun,trying to fish that out,it lodged behind the water pump,ergo,no circulation.) The one i'm working on is an 07,I believe.SO,make sure I paint the timing gear/chain tooth location.Also to number the cam phraser,and caps,in the order they come out.For ex.,front to back,ie. 1,2,3, etc. Sound about right? Unfortunately,it's an "at home" job,with no air hose,no lift,etc.

    • @marcgreenmountain6062
      @marcgreenmountain6062  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the hardest part will be the removal of the ac compressor and the bracket that attaches to the block. which blocks the timing cover being removed

    • @jerodbrown18
      @jerodbrown18 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Got it,thanks again brother.I might hit you up for a question or two,should I get stuck...if you don't mind.

    Wassuupp brody. Dig what u do man. Actually amazes me. I am in tech school now for cars and trucks. 3 months in. Own a 2008 civic coupe and im nervous about jus changin a pulley and small front engine mount. No way could i take off those jaguar parts and remember exactly where they go once its time to reassemble. Jus how man. I jus pray i can one day be on this level. Needed this. Dont teach about the bolt fighting and out the box thinking in school.

    Too much tools, too much beautiful workshop, but if you remove the engine with the gearbox together for below the car, the job was did on half of that time without fighting. Remove the front helps too, its ease.
    But nice and clean execution, thanks for upload the video.

    • @JonathanLopez-us7yy
      @JonathanLopez-us7yy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also think that would be best; i think the reason he didn't do it is because he's on the job and time is essential that and not having the necessary room to have the entire engine on a engine stand. I wonder what was the final invoice of the total job both parts and labor. anyone that has done a head gasket job knows that replacement parts are always needed not just the two head gaskets.

    • @felinecontrolled
      @felinecontrolled 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JonathanLopez-us7yy A quick google search estimates $2,500 to $3,000. I may have a more exact total depending on what my mechanic says next week.
