You still can apply for the next year. I am also a psychotherapist , and i know how hard is to do so many informative and helpful videos. Besides the practice...
@@Daniela.Mccaffrey Thats not the point. For some of us this was one of the most painful holidays- esp with the economy, winter storms of 2022, I had all this on top of covid. Screw next year! This was needed a week ago.
It’s here in time for next holiday. Doc Snipes makes these videos at no charge to us. I appreciate that so much. Her timing is her timing. Whatever works for her. Also I know holidays are still here at my place. Family here from out of town & new years hasn’t gotten here and things aren’t “per usual” for another few weeks. As for me I’m glad to have it now as this holiday has hit me in places emotionally I wasn’t expecting & it’s helping me sort through that now.
Anyone going through a breakup or if this is your first Christmas out of the relationship, I'm sending you understanding and empathy. So painful, trying to put on a face around others when you just want to curl up and be alone. Even around friends and family its hard not to still feel alone. I sincerely hope our next Christmas will be better!
One thing I have become more aware of both for myself and when considering others, the holidays can be tough and someone wishing me happy holidays has been a little triggering. Not everyone is happy and joyful during this season. It’s like saying “how are you?” and not wanting the real answer.
Sadly, yes, when someone is dealing with grief, depression, trauma etc and we wish them happy holidays, we might risk triggering them, if they feel helpless and hopeless and think there’s no reason for them to be happy. Practicing gratitude during the holidays could help us overcome those feelings to a certain degree, so could remembering what brought us joy in the past, what helped us feel better (healthy behaviors, peers and tools that have helped us cope in the last)and doing that.
Thanks so much for making all your amazing training videos free! It's enabled me to become a better therapist while I'm training and am really broke, its really helping me and my clients
You’re so welcome. I appreciate you watching and am grateful to be of help. Please let me know what other videos would help you in practice. Thank you!
I am shocked to see so many people blaming Dr. Snipes for posting it late?! Are you kidding me?! Give me a break! Show some gratitude and respect! Dr. Snipes Doesn't owe you anything, so does the whole world. This is a more than one hour long video. Do you know how much effort, time, resources does Dr. Snipes to put just to make this one video?!
Thank you so much, Li, for your kind words and for watching the video. Yes, prepping a long video: doing research to present the latest evidence based strategies, creating the powerpoint presentation etc takes a lot of time. I do it with dedication and love in my heart, in hopes it helps those in need. I posted the video on the week between Christmas and New Years because I have older videos on coping with grief and trauma during the holidays and thought those who need help will search for older videos on the channel, because they are just as good.
This is super helpful to me, the holidays are still in full swing in my family, and I am really glad to put the events that have gone by in perspective
This was my first year I'm 52 years old I disowned my family last year because of betrayal and this was my first Christmas completely alone and it was a rough one it's really really weird not spending Christmas or having people call you or talking to people on Christmas and you're an orphan...
I am sorry about that. I am grateful for you being here and watching the video. If you were to write a list with the things and people you need in your rich and meaningful life, what would that look like?
Isn't it a bit cruel and snide to post this four days AFTER Christmas. Like are you freaking kidding me? This has been a painful holiday this year. Would have loved to have this video a week ago. *eye roll*.
I have older videos on coping with grief during the holidays and that’s why I posted this one after Christmas. I am sorry you had a rough holiday and I am grateful for you being here and watching the video
You are so rude and disrespectful! Grow up and show your gratitude and respect for God's sake! Unfortunately you are just not the center of the universe lol. And it seems you are doing fine now post Christmas. Maybe you could share and help others?
Hey Snipes! What is it called when you or someone tries to protect themselves from getting hurt again? I feel like i have this defense mechanism where I always assume the worse like people are gonna reject me or humiliate me or whatever and it always turns out to be the opposite. There very happy and have good intentions and accept me but im always on my feet worrying. And its like i put up this wall like i try inflate myself or appear bigger almost like a image of perfection so im good enough. Can you help me with this? Thank u
Hi. It’s a fear of rejection. The fear of rejection is one of the 6 basic fears. What would it happen if people were to reject you? What would that say about you? Would them rejecting you have more to do with you or with those who aren’t able to accept you the way you are?
I wish this would air before the holidays and not after...
Thank you for your patience. Here’s the list of videos on holidays: docsnipes.com/Holidays
