How long does yours last? I had done point filing on cars when they used them years ago and it dibt last long as they need to be very smooth. Where can I buy the contacts is what I would like to find out.somebody makes them
It has held fine and continues to work. I think the original failure is caused because absolutely no lubricant is used at the factory on the cam wheel or lever pawls that ride the cam. This causes the cam surface to cut a groove in the pawl and subsequently this causes less and less pressure on the switch (particularly the stiffer harder to push set of contacts for the heating element). Eventually this lessened pressure causes the contacts to barely engage each other and they run hot and arc. Planned obsolescence baby!
Before I did this, my dryer wasn't heating. After doing so it started heating, but would no longer turn off using the timer. Opened it back up and toggled/cleaned further and now it won't heat or turn off. Any ideas?
Wish I had found you earlier...before I wasted money and time on every other PART....UGH!!! Thank you so much great teaching.
Acetone is best for cleaning contacts/points. Good video
Some solvents will attack plastics so you have to be careful.

Totally Awesome Thanks
My timer has 4 sets of prongs. One of the plastic arms fell out and I put it back together wrong. Thanks for this video. How has the plastic held up?
