I just diagnosed that the thermal cutoff was bad on my daughter's vintage Kenmore from your video. And on top of that I smacked it on my desk a couple times and boom! continuity was back. I literally fixed her dryer for $0 Nada. Awesome video and its still totally relevant.
That is so awesome to hear. I’m glad it worked. I would still recommend replacing that fuse with a factory reset fuse. Thank you for watching and hopefully subscribing. I’m glad this video was helpful for you.
I just ordered a thermal fuse as I found that mine was bad and dryer not heating, then I watched your video and was amazed how you walked us thru the process of checking what the problem. The best part was at the end when you showed how to reset the fuse. Once I did what you demonstrated in the video I reinstalled it in the dryer and it started heating. My wife was not happy, she thought she was getting a new dryer. BTW, the Kenmore dryer is 29 years old and outside of the door switch this is the only thing that went wrong on this dryer. Thank You A Bunch!
Hi Chuck, I’m glad my video was helpful and you were able to repair your dryer. That dryer is 29 years old and I’ll tell you they don’t make them like they used to anymore. Try to keep that thing running as long as you can. Thank you for watching and hopefully subscribing and you and your family have a merry Christmas and a happy new year! Stay safe!
SUCESS!!!! Replaced both the thermal cutoff (2nd time) and the associated 250 Degree Thermostat this time. The thermostat was the original culprit and that's why the thermal cutoff failed a second time. Working great now. That is why they sell them as a pair. Thank you WK for an awesome and concise DIY video. You ROCK!
I have a 22 year old dryer Kenmore Series 90. Still ran but no heat.. Your video is excellent....you clearly show what you are doing every step of the way. It was very helpful to see all of the parts that affect dryer's heating and how to test. I had watched other videos and all said first change thermal cut off fuse. Did that and still no heat. Then found your video and after testing all heat related parts for continuity, found it was the heating element. Everything else was OK but ordered full kit for $32.99 on Amazon. Replaced and are now back in business. Thank you.....saved us lots of money, too. Don't need a dryer with wifi.....last time I checked, my phone lacked the ability to remove clothes from washer and place in dryer....!!
I paid 175.00 for my dryer 10. Years ago.. i fixed it with help from your video.. but I'll be honest, I don't know if i should have.. my wife looked so disappointed..
ShartingFish - That’s funny. I bet she was hoping for a new dryer. Look at it this way, you fixed it long enough to find a good sale on a new one. Glad this was helpful. All the Best -
THANK YOU! I watch lots of DIY videos on YT and your video nailed it for me. My wife told me that the dryer wasn't working. Did my YT due diligence and found your video. About 90 minutes later the dryer was running again. It took me longer to find my tools than to do what you recommended. THANK YOU!
Hey there, Steve, I am so glad to hear that my video was helpful for you. Thank you for sharing and hopefully subscribing. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and stay safe!
My Elite HE3 stopped heating. I found the full diagram and parts numbers online and replaced everything since I had the unit open. Thermistor and fuse on the blower housing. Heat element, cutoff and sensor on heater housing. Each was available separately but I bought the kit. Saved hundreds of dollars.
My girlfriend thinks you're a superhero.. we have a newer model Kenmore dryer series 100, but you're reset trick for the high limit fuse is pure gold. New part is on the way but til then we can still use the dryer...no more clothesline.... BRAVO!!!
You saved our dryer!! And possibly a marriage! This was so thorough and perfectly narrator for the absolute beginner. Can’t thank you enough. I know it was long ago but I hope those ribs were delish!
Awesome to hear that this video was helpful! Thank you for watching and commenting, and hopefully subscribing. Appreciate your support! Stay safe and healthy!
Glen here again... I tried your magic trick with the smack-reset, with nothing to lose, and potentially scoring points for effort with my tenants. The reset worked, as evidenced by my Fluke multimeter. However, the fix did not last until I reassembled the unit. Dang. I would never consider the "reset" trick as a permanent fix, for lack of trust in the long run, and I hate rework more than work. But absolutely, worth the try, especially since buying parts these days for the individual is a major challenge. I appreciate so much what you are doing here : thank you so much. Glen Moore Seattle
Thank you for watching and commenting. I agree that if you use the reset trick, you should probably consider getting a new part in the near future. However, I have reset mine once before and that was a couple years ago and it is still functioning. This will definitely get you out of a bind if you’re unable to get your hands on any parts. Stay safe.
Hey thank you! You helped me fix my dryer. I'm 55, a female and very handy and now I know something new! Edit...the exact same one was the bad one, I followed your instructions on resetting it and it worked! Will help till the part arrives.
William, I can’t tell you how grateful I am. I watched your video after my dryer stopped heating. I bought a multimeter and checked the fuses, cut off switches and heating element like you showed. The heating element didn’t beep, so I removed it and found a break in the coil! I’m waiting for my replacement part to get here tomorrow and I should be back in business. Your guidance was invaluable and your video was very thorough and easy to follow. Thank you!
I am so glad to hear that you had success fixing your dryer with the help of my video. Thank you for watching and subscribing and have a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
AMAZING tip at the end to reset the thermal fuse! If I can do that, I can have a temporary fix while I wait for my part to arrive, and my tenant will be extremely grateful! Thank you so much for helping to keep our rents affordable. Glen Moore Seattle WA
I've been trying to figure out how to both test for continuity with so many multimeters, removing switches and fuses, pulling the dryer in out up and down for a week all with only one arm and this is the only video that showed me exactly how to do everything. Thank God! now I cannot cancel my repair appointment. Considering just replacing all the parts that came in the kit or leaving it be
Thank you for watching And I’m glad to hear that the video was helpful. I appreciate your comments and your subscription hopefully. Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year! Stay safe!
Thanks for sharing! I had the same issue as you did. I never used a multimeter before and I purchased the $5 one from Harbor Frieht tools. I'm glad you showed what else to check for future references. The reset method worked for me but I'm going to buy another cut off switch. TH-cam is the best!!!
My issue exactly! And love that have the same dryer set up ! Is a 20 year old dryer so not all exact (the blower thermostat only has two connections , not four). Got an E1 (if I recall) code a couple weeks ago so ordered and replaced the low temp thermostat (and cleaned the dryer and exhaust while at it), all was well, then a couple weeks later it stopped heating. Tested all w my meter (which should have done first time lol) and the thermal fuse was the issue. Have done all this a couple times over the life of the dryer (inc element), so have gotten pretty comfortable doing it! Still, your video was SO helpful in describing what everything does and how to make sure test properly (don’t use my multimeter for anything else so have to remember how to use it each time! Hence why didn’t test two weeks ago lol). Gonna see if can reset the fuse as per your tip, while ordering replacement. Thx again!!
Totally reset my thermal fuse and it worked again. Your video was easy and to the point with great camera angles. Anyone with no experience can try it with your walkthrough. Not the same model Kenmore however the parts you showed were easy to find and diagnose. Thanks again.
Awesome to hear! Sometimes I wonder if my videos are clear and easy to follow. I don’t always feel like I explain things clearly. Thank you for the kind comment. I’m Glad this video was helpful. Stay safe.
This is the ONLY video or tutorial Online I could find with a dryer identical to mine. Sure enough, the thermal fuse was not passing current. It continued to blow after resetting and replacing, so I looked at the heat element to see if it was grounding out. It looked okay. Then I started blowing lint out of the vent system with an air hose, working my way back to the exterior vent hose in the side of the house. A bucket of trash and one mouse nest later, I am back in business. If the fuse continues to fail (not sure that is the right word, since it is doing it's job) at least I can keep resetting until the core problem is identified, THANKS TO YOU!!!
Thanks for the video. It was very helpful. I was able to replace my heating element (and door switch); I'm reasonably handy with fixing appliances, but this made the task much easier and faster. Knowing how to troubleshoot the other switches and thermostat was useful in narrowing down what was wrong.
You are the man. Dryer needed a cleaning and thermal disc needed to be reset. Everything else checked out perfect and the dryer is working great. My wife thinks I'm "The Man" again thanks to you.
Hi Anna. Thank you. Just want to make sure people understand that’s a lot of voltage (240v) and it will kill!!! Hope the video was helpful for you. Thank you for watching. Please subscribe if you haven’t already. Stay safe and healthy.
Thank you for making this extremely helpful video. I bought a used dryer that's very similar to yours but the previous owner did not tell me the timer intermittently freezes on 5 minutes which lets the dryer run continuously. Well I got the unit home and put a load of cloths in it and fell asleep. Won't you know the dryer was on all night! The dryer still works but will not heat anymore. I ohmed out all the parts you talked about and found a bad heating element. Ordered a new one and replaced it within 20 minutes. Thanks again for this wonderful video. I will have to address the timer issue one day but other then that the dryer works great.
What a great video! I've done this before, but it's been about 15 years, and your tutorial is spot on. Thank you for taking the time to record and post it -- I know it took effort, much appreciated. BTW, we bought our Kenmore washer and dryer in 1993 and they are both still working, albeit with a few do-it-yourself repairs over the past 26 years. I'll keep these until they are DEAD and no longer resurrectable!
Thank you sir!!! Appreciate your kind words. Its very true - was a lot of effort and extra work to video and post but I enjoy offering help to others as others have helped me over the years. These Kenmore appliances are really amazing machines. This Kenmore washer and dryer have chugged through well-over a decade of my wife and I doing foster care (fostering over 27+ kids and adopted 5 plus two of our own biological children). The amount of clothes and blankets and uniforms and throw rugs that have been washed over the years are mind boggling. The workmanship and quality are truly amazing and as of today, these machines show no signs of failing. All the Best and hope your machines continue to Chooch along for many more years.
Thanks for this excellent video. But I have two tips I could add. 1. Lay the dryer on its side, and access to the three components is much easier (can use right hand instead of left and not crane neck lying on floor.) and gravity is on your side getting the screws back in. 2. Whacking the thermal switch on the floor wasn't working for me, but a gentle tap dead center on the back of the plate right behind the switch with the handle of my screwdriver reset it first time!
You keep it simple and make it so that any one watching understands. Its not about you but about getting the message across on how to fix it. Glad I found you. Cheers
Great video! This was exactly what I needed in order to diagnose and repair my dryer. You saved me lots of time and money vs. calling a repairman. My only problem came from not taking a picture of the wiring when I disconnected. I was able to pretty easily trace wires back and paused your video to see where they all connected. Thanks and keep them coming! ✌🏼
Regarding thermostat, testing at room temperature can give you continuity and you will think the part is fine. You also need to check to make sure it turns off at like 175 degrees too. So you need to put on hot plate at 175 and make sure it turns off and continuity stops. Mine did not turn off and was probably the cause of the thermal fuse going bad. It is always a good idea to change the thermostat at the same time you change a thermal fuse otherwise you will just keep blowing thermal fuses if the thermostat is bad.
William I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have saved some hard earned money at a time when money is tight. I just did your 'hack' where you smack the thermal cut off on the ground to re-set it, it worked perfectly. Once again thank you soooo much Knowledge is indeed power. Hope you have a great day.
Hi Justin. I’m thrilled you were able to save some money. I don’t know how we lived without TH-cam. Its saved me so much over the years fixing things. This is my way of giving back. Please subscribe if you haven’t already. Thanks fir watching and leaving your comment. Much appreciated. Stay safe and healthy.
Thank You! This dryer is exactly like my mom's dryer which stopped heating, and so she sent me the model number. I bought a kit with both thermal cut-off kit (like you showed), dryer thermal fuse, thermostat cycling switch for $14. I tested the parts disconnected from wiring and only needed to change the thermal fuse you showed because it had no continuity. It only took me 15 minutes, and the dryer works! I cleaned up everything and it looks like the outside flap on the exhaust outlet outside the house caused the backup and excess heat. I reset the old one and saved it with the other parts. Saved us lots of money and time!
Hey Kasper, thank you for showing the 5 different locations to test, unlike the other 12 videos that only show the usual 3. Your teaching style is excellent and camera quality is superior!!!
tubetop36 - Wow - thank you for the awesome compliment. Unfortunately I don’t feel that I teach well or use the camera well either. I appreciate the positive reinforcement. I’m glad this was helpful and surprised other videos don’t cover more on this. Please browse my channel and subscribe if you find my content interesting. Glad to be of assistance!!! All the Best and Happy New Year!!!!
Thanks for the well laid out information. One comment I received from a tech when I had to have my timer replaced: he said to NEVER turn it counter-clockwise, because that's what tears them up. Always turn them clockwise.
Super incredibly helpful! Not only was I able to fix my dryer with the help of your excellent video, but I also learned a lot! Bravo sir, and thanks!!!
Thank you for the awesome comment. Sometimes I wonder if I really explain things clearly. Your feedback helps and inspires me to continue. Hope this video was helpful. Stay safe and healthy!!!
But did you ever mention what caused the fuse to over heat never heard a reason everything else looked like it checked out? Also safe to reuse the fuse that you showed how to reset? Thanks
I’m not sure what caused the fault. It could have been a waxy coating on lint screen or the door was opened abruptly during a high heat setting. This could cause the internal temps to increase when the blower fan stops and the setting is on high heat. - The resetting of the fuse would only be a temporary fix. After resetting, a new fuse should be ordered and installed.
While I don't have the same model, had to access by the back, my thermal sensor was exactly the same and was bad too. Reset it just like you did, now we'll be set until our new washer/dryer is delivered in a couple of weeks!!! Thank you so much for the video!
Oh my gosh. Thank you for that kind comment. Glad the video was helpful. Thank you for watching and commenting and hopefully subscribing. Stay safe and have a Happy New Year!!!
I just used your video last night to help take out these parts! Now I ordered a new set and I feel confident putting the new ones in. Thanks so much for this helpful video!
Wow, that reset trick actually worked for me, thanks! And, bonus, I found out my ducts were pretty clogged up so gave them a good cleaning. Superb video!
Great to hear. Glad this video was helpful plus you may have saved yourself from a catastrophe with those clogged ducts. Stay safe and healthy!!! Best-
Amazing! I already knew my thermal fuse was bad so i got a new one, but this video still helped me to learn something new. That reset trick is by far the best thing I've seen. 👏🏼👍🏻
@@daleg5553 Well..it too a couple of good thumps... but it did the trick...you might want to put it so that the little hook at the top is over the edge of the surface you are going to strike... making the strike a bit better.
@@SmokinwithKasket That's pretty high brother, my kit came with the Heating Element, both of those parts via Amazon for 28 bucks. I will link it below in case anyone here needs the Heating Element also. Of course, yours is a different model, but the prices can't be that different. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0829K9XCJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This was incredibly helpful. I just assumed I needed a heating element. Didn't Needed a new thermal fuse. He showed how to reset the fuse that was bad and I did and now have my dryer running again. I ordered a new set of fuses to have on hand if this pops up again. Very well done video.
Excellent tutorial. We have the same dryer so this was just what I needed. I’ve only been a homeowner for ~5 years but thanks to videos like yours I have found that there is a lot you can do to fix things before paying someone or buying new.
William Kasper So to be clear, the 3rd thermal cutoff (the white one you had to check off camera) had continuity the same as the other 2 correct? That’s the one I’m not getting a tone on. The other 2 and the heating element are all good.
@@SmokinwithKasket , are you a professional electrician or do it as your hobby? The reason I'm asking because I love fixing anything broken. I am a student rn majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Love to have a mentor like you if you don't mind.
nice video, very helpful. but what wasn't talked about, why do you think the part went bad? just age? guessing that nothing that would overheat the dryer was found...
Well, the root cause was never determined in my circumstance. It could’ve been a faulty thermal fuse or, and this happens quite from time to time, especially with older models, the door was opened while the dryer was set to high heat. The airflow stops and the internal temperatures rise significantly causing the fuse to trip. My manifold and vent hose were clear of debris and lint. So in my case, one of those two scenarios probably played out. It’s most important to be sure that there is no lint buildup in the manifold or your dryer vent pipe. This is a big fire hazard.
Yes, thank you for mentioning investigating why cutoff went, my exact problem, no other vids even mention it, and close up on wires so I can put them back proper. Appreciate
Thanks. This video guided me in replacing the heating element in my Kenmore dryer. Not same model but very close to yours. Total cost $23 (Amazon) and 1-2 hours of my time. Worked wonderfully. Appreciate you! 🍻
Yes it is interesting how appliances differ inside with regards to that. We’ve done foster care for years with a house full at all times. This washer and dryer have been out through their paces!!! This not a gently used dryer!!!
Hello. You do not have to take the fuse out, however, remove both wires and then test for continuity. Thank you for watching and commenting and hopefully subscribing.
William, brilliant bonus tip! Had just replace high temp thermostat 2 days ago. It went out again. (Everything cleaned prior to replacement, every component tested). Your reset trick worked, so far. Thanks!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! We are trying to help the planet by fixing existing appliances instead of buying new and resources like this video make such a difference! Even though the space is hard to get into I could still see everything clearly. Thanks for taking the time to post this!
In video min 14:08 looks like your heating element wire is ground shorted to heating element case . That will cause heating element to be glowing all times while dryer is running. Hence fuses blow . Please test continuity between heating element wire and heating element case.
Hello. I looked and couldn't see what you were seeing. I can tell you that I tested the leads and the case for a short and it was negative. The coil did cycle during this test. I'm thinking it was an angle that made it appear the element wire was making contact but I had no indications that was occurring. thanks for watching. I do appreciate your input. Stay safe!!!
Thank u for this ordered a element thinking it was bad but turned out to be that fuse in back, used the trick at the end to reset and works good. Thank u for posting this
I know it. TH-cam bailed me outta of problems many times!!! I’m happy & blessed to be able to create content and share with everyone. Thank you for watching, commenting and hopefully subscribing. Stay safe!!!
I just want to thank you so very much for making this video! I was told my heating element went out and it would be costly to buy the part and have a repair man to install it.. Luckily, your video was next after the heating element one and I immediately testing the parts you said. Turns out it was the thermal cut off and I did buy the set even though it was the back one that was faulty. I even tried to reset it as you said, but no luck. The parts cost the same as in your video and I repaired it myself! My only complaint is; why the hell are the parts on the left side when most people are right handed?!? So, I did struggle putting the bolts back on. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Dumb question... what happens if you put the wires on reversed on the high level thermostat? For example, it was red wire left side, black wire right side but when did the reverse when you installed the new one?
Loved your video. I thought I had a bad element. it turned out that I had the same issue as you. I didn’t have the part, so I did what you did at the end of the video and hit it a few times on the floor and sure enough, the multimeter beeped when I tested it. Thank you very much. I had to pull the entire housing out so I could test everything easier. That was pretty easy, though. I just turned it to the left and it came right out. 2 thumbs up!👍👍
Thanks for sharing. I always thought the bad fuse was garbage and I had to wait on parts. Now I will at least try to reset it until parts come in. BTW, mention of firing up the smoker and getting ribs on had me glued. Lol!!!!
Hello. Great video. I have a Kenmore Elite dryer that does not produce heat. There is power going in and the drum turns. I have checked continuitynon the heating element, 3 thermal fuses and the black thermostat near the blower, and all parts have continuity. What else can the problem be? Thank you so much.
@@SmokinwithKasket I see. Thank you so much for getting back to me. Now I’ll need to find a video on how to locate and swap out the faulty timer. Happy Father’s Day.
@@SmokinwithKasket thank you a lot for the video. I asked my question before you got to it in your demonstration. My problem was, in fact, the coil. Just picked the part up for $99 and got it installed. Your video made me superman to my wife. Thanks again.
GREAT Video, Have the exact same dryer, it was the smaller Thermal cutoff, on heater tube, replaced that fixed the issue, or so I thought, element heated, did one load worked. Then 2nd load same issue, troubleshot again per your vid, the same culprit. After replacing the part, did clean out the exhaust port of lint was gunked up , that flowed clearly. Going to take the back off dryer, thinking there is blockage there somewhere. Any thoughts?
I slammed the little fuse like you showed us and after the fourth try it was reset and now the dryer works, thank you so much! Cleaned out the filter too!
I wish my Kenmore dryer had an easy access on the front. I had to remove the top and the whole front section of the dryer to access those parts. Come to find out mine is actually made by LG and sold as Kenmore. Good video
My dryer stopped drying yesterday. Based on several videos I've watched this is considered an "easy" DYI repair. Hahaha! So much of this is foreign to me. So far I'm still at be sure to unplug the unit and make sure to turn off the gas. Baby steps.
Hi meropale - thanks for your input. You should definitely call a service person to come out and look at your unit. Don't feel intimidated, these types of repairs can be daunting if you are unfamiliar with the basics. Plus you're dealing with electricity and natural gas - both very dangerous and unless you have a basic working knowledge and are comfortable working on this, and it seems you are not, PLEASE, don't risk it. Much better to call for help then to risk injury, time and money. All the Best-
My thermal cut off switch tripped. I used your technique for resetting it and now my dryer works. All of the other components had a closed circuit. So I don’t know why it tripped which a little concerning. It is ~22(?) years old so perhaps it should be replaced anyways. My son checked the vent trap from the back and said it was clear, but I was able to remove some lint from the fan blades at the bottom.
Hello. Glad to hear the video was helpful for you. I always recommend replacing the component after resetting it. This is just a way to get you up and running until you can order the part. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I'm going to try to help a friend. He needed a dryer and I hooked him up from another friend that had just moved and already had a dryer. The next time I saw him he informed me that the dryer wasn't working properly. So now I feel obligated to repair the dryer..
I can’t believe your resetting technique worked!!! I was blown away by that !!! I ordered a new part , but meanwhile I ( my wife 😉) can use the dryer. Great job with the video thank you for taking the time to do that. 👍
Thank you for the video hopefully you can guide me in the right direction my dryer stopped drying I took the thermal cutoff out slammed it on the ground reinstalled bam the coils started glowing went to my nearest appliance parts store they sold me the thermal cutoff and thermostat installed both, coils started glowing I thought I was good today while at work I get a call saying the dryer isn't heating came home took the panel off started checking for continuity everything checked out except the new thermal cutoff removed it again slammed it tested again and got continuity installed again coil starts glowing then I realized it shuts off after about 3-5 minutes it'll turn back on if yiu reset the timer on the dryer any idea what it could be? I tested the heating element got continuity.
Remember that whatever setting you use especially using a lower heat setting your heating element will cycle on and off. If you have it on high heat setting and it completely shuts off after running for a few minutes, then it could be your timer.
@William Kasper Thank you I'll have to check that out when I get home. I'm just so confused now I have no idea what to check I feel like Griswold on the movie when he puts up his Christmas lights and they won't turn on 🤣
We have tried all of your suggestions. Bought new thermal fuses, New thermostat and a new heating element. We have also cleaned out the dryer venting to the outside as well as cleaning inside and the vent. New parts worked and I was so excited ... Dryer stopped heating less than 5 minutes into the cycle. What do you suggest next? The only part that trips is the back fuse ... I tapped it and can get continuity and am currently trying again.
That back fuse could be faulty. Had that been replaced? Did you pull the cover off the fan housing? That could be clogged and I’ve even had a dryer sheet stuck inside there. There may be not enough airflow because of the fan housing / cage That contains the fan blades itself. It’s a squirrel cage type fan.
I can tell you that I have had a reset thermal fuse trip again. It’s speculated that it is weaker and more sensitive than factory new and I agree. This is a fix that should be used until you order and receive a new one. All the Best-
Do you have any suggestions if I've replaced the thermal fuse, cycling thermostat, thermal cut-off, and high-limit thermostat, but I'm still not getting heat? I even had an electrician out who conformed it's not a fuse in the house's electrical box, nor is there a problem with the dryer outlet or power to the dryer.
It very well could be your timer. Search for some TH-cam videos regarding replacing the timer on that unit. There are a number of videos illustrating that. To me it sounds like your timer is malfunctioning.
@@SmokinwithKasket Thank you for your reply. I had a new heating element on the way, just tried it, and that didn't fix it. So I will be ordering the timer. 😅 (and probably give up if that doesn't do it 🫠)
Took the bottom cover off of my Kenmore dryer and it looks almost exactly like the one on the video. I'm going in with my meter and let you know later how it works out. 🤞👊

Sometimes it’s better to replace more now then waiting till each component fails. Thank you for sharing.
My girlfriend thinks you're a superhero.. we have a newer model Kenmore dryer series 100, but you're reset trick for the high limit fuse is pure gold. New part is on the way but til then we can still use the dryer...no more clothesline.... BRAVO!!!
Awesome!!! Glad the video was helpful.
Stay safe and healthy!
losing a marriage over a dryer? you are a loser
That’s great!!! I’m so glad this video was helpful. You saved $$$ and that’s always a good thing!!! Thank you for watching and subscribing. Stay safe.
Thank you for watching commenting and supporting. I’m glad you found this video helpful. Stay safe and healthy.
You should have good air flow now. You should be in good shape. Glad this was helpful. Stay safe and healthy. Best-
Thanks for the video. It was very helpful. I was able to replace my heating element (and door switch); I'm reasonably handy with fixing appliances, but this made the task much easier and faster.
Knowing how to troubleshoot the other switches and thermostat was useful in narrowing down what was wrong.
That’s great news. Thank you for watching. Commenting and hopefully subscribing. Stay safe.
You are the man. Dryer needed a cleaning and thermal disc needed to be reset. Everything else checked out perfect and the dryer is working great. My wife thinks I'm "The Man" again thanks to you.
I really appreciate how many times you emphasize unplugging the dryer BEFORE anything else.

So glad this was helpful. Thank you for watching, commenting and supporting. Stay safe and healthy.
Excellent advice. Thank you so much for sharing.
Lay the dryer on its side? Are you serious?
You keep it simple and make it so that any one watching understands. Its not about you but about getting the message across on how to fix it. Glad I found you. Cheers
Thank you. Appreciate that comment. Stay safe!
I am a DIY Homeowner this video is very informative right before i troubleshoot my Kenmore dryer. Thank you.
Glad this was helpful for you. Stay safe!!!
Im sorry I missed your post. Thank you for the kind comment and I’m glad to hear this video was helpful. Happy New Year and have a safe 2022.
I really liked your video. It didn't leave anything out. The other guy removed the housing of the heating element.
Thank you for watering and sharing. Stay safe.
Great advice. Thank you. Appreciate your comment and support.
Thank you for the great video. Made the repair so simple, and made me look like a hero to my wife.
Great yo hear. Glad I was able to help. Stay safe and healthy. All the Best -

Thanks for the well laid out information. One comment I received from a tech when I had to have my timer replaced: he said to NEVER turn it counter-clockwise, because that's what tears them up. Always turn them clockwise.

Hi Nathan. Thank you for watching. Hope you were successful in your repair. Glad the video was helpful. Stay safe.

That last bit on resetting the fuse was a life-saver... "If for some reason you can't get to a parts store" - Yep. Quarantined.
Glad that was helpful.
Same part, same trick. This guy saved me at least $45
nice video, very helpful. but what wasn't talked about, why do you think the part went bad? just age? guessing that nothing that would overheat the dryer was found...
The beat video by far and i was just about to give up and pay someone. Thank you very helpful information.
Waiting on my new parts and I'll let you know how it turns out 👍👍

In video min 14:08 looks like your heating element wire is ground shorted to heating element case . That will cause heating element to be glowing all times while dryer is running. Hence fuses blow . Please test continuity between heating element wire and heating element case.
Hello. I looked and couldn't see what you were seeing. I can tell you that I tested the leads and the case for a short and it was negative. The coil did cycle during this test. I'm thinking it was an angle that made it appear the element wire was making contact but I had no indications that was occurring. thanks for watching. I do appreciate your input. Stay safe!!!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Thank you for watching and I’m glad this video was helpful. You are right!!! About the parts opposite the right hand! Lol!!!

Dumb question... what happens if you put the wires on reversed on the high level thermostat? For example, it was red wire left side, black wire right side but when did the reverse when you installed the new one?
No this is a great question, wish Bill would give you an answer
Loved your video. I thought I had a bad element. it turned out that I had the same issue as you. I didn’t have the part, so I did what you did at the end of the video and hit it a few times on the floor and sure enough, the multimeter beeped when I tested it. Thank you very much. I had to pull the entire housing out so I could test everything easier. That was pretty easy, though. I just turned it to the left and it came right out. 2 thumbs up!👍👍

Hello. Great video. I have a Kenmore Elite dryer that does not produce heat. There is power going in and the drum turns. Test it with an ohm meter as demonstrated. Be sure to disconnect at least one wire from the thermal fuse first.

All the Best-
Your reset trick saved the day today. I am ordering new fuses but until they come we can still use the dryer, thanks.
Glad I could help
My thermal cut off switch tripped. I used your technique for resetting it and now my dryer works. All of the other components had a closed circuit. So I don’t know why it tripped which a little concerning. It is ~22(?) years old so perhaps it should be replaced anyways. My son checked the vent trap from the back and said it was clear, but I was able to remove some lint from the fan blades at the bottom.

We have already purchased two sets of thermal fuses in the past two weeks. I couldn't find anything obstructing air flow
If you reset the Thermal fuse will it still reliably shut off to prevent future over heatings possibly leading to deadly house fire?
😅 (and probably give up if that doesn't do it 🫠)
Great video thanks really needed it for the recovery center I'm at. Hope it works here
Thanks so very much for your time and expertise in helping do basic troubleshooting ,on the household dryer 😊
Took the bottom cover off of my Kenmore dryer and it looks almost exactly like the one on the video. I'm going in with my meter and let you know later how it works out. 🤞👊
Great. Hopefully you’ll find the problem. Thank you for watching and commenting. Stay safe.
