It took me 43 years to finally watch this movie my brother and his friends raved about back in the late 70s. The movie was very inspiring with hope, perseverance, patience and of course Faith. I would say this Christian intervention is more needed then ever now.
Heard about the movie from church and watched it today. No regrets. Literally cried. Beautiful movie that I would love to experience again. A great recommendation to friends and family.
I dated someone with a story similar to Nicky Cruz, during his “before” days. He was a violent criminal, with serious mental health and substance abuse issues. But he was also handsome and charming, and I was very young and naive, so I was taken in at first. He had done prison time before I met him and again after we broke up, and he became an Aryan leader. Then a near-death experience scared him into a spiritual about-face. He turned his life around, along with many, many other lives. He stayed clean, sober and out of prison throughout the latter part of his life, and helped scores of others to do the same. And he donated his time and talent to help local artists, many of whom were African-American. To me, his transformation was nothing short of a miracle. Not gonna lie, I hated his guts for a long, long time. But now I am proud to have known him.
I watched this as a kid- may be a little too young. It really hits hard as an adult. God is so good! All things are possible and this is a fantastic reminder! Thanks for uploading on TH-cam.
Wow. Legendary. I go to Times Square Church from time to time (founder by David Wilkerson aka “Preacher”) and it’s so cool to learn this is how it all started. And it’s clear how it is continuing so strong and authentically in The Lord to this day! ❤✝️☝️

First time watching the movie today brought tears, thankfulness, appreciation for the gospel/Jesus and all the good hearted preachers, labourers that have layed their lives down so that , hurting, addicted, hopeless, anger, unloving, bitter, people can know the true forgiving, hopeful, love, true caring, Lord Jesus, the Father and Holy Spirit. Powerful!
I've never watched this so I thought I would tonight, I almost didn't because it started out so cheesey. It did Not disappoint. I love David Wilkerson's teachings/ preaching. Even more after watching this film. RIP David Wilkerson can't wait to meet you one day. ❤

I used to consume missionary stories when I was a kid. ( we had a big church library) This was one of the first I read. I was too young to understand that kind of love that would willingly choose personal danger / death , but I was willing to let The Lord Jesus Christ teach me… I used to walk to high school with a heroine addict So many times the words of Dave Wilkerson would come rolling in just when I needed them…
I was born in 1958, and I went to lots of youth rallies, where Nikki Cruz and a lot of the people from this from this movie were there. I read the books that David Wilkerson had written we need that type of experience back in our churches where people go out, and live the way Jesus lived
Nicky Cruz also had a book Satan on the Loose & a short film with same title. Both book & film warned about dangers of the occult & reality of satanic evil spirits. The answer Jesus the Christ.

Cool to see this up on You Tube. I just wish the filmmakers, Don Murray and star Pat Boone (who was the driving force behind the making of the film version) kept the 1958 setting that the actual events took place in, instead of updating the setting to the then-contemporary 1970s. Oh well...
I wish nickys movie 'a thousand pieces' the screen adaptation of his book 'run baby run' had the funding to be made. The story of redemption an good triumphing over evil in the heart of a stone cold gang banger, has more relevance today than it did even in the 50s 60s 70s an onward. Teenagers are more lost today in every way than at any other time in our history. I speak as a very bad ex gang leader, our kids need help.
As much as you love this film, it doesnt even come close to God's love for you. If you watched this it's because He is calling you, and he wants to change your life just as he changed Nicky's.

I got him to sign my New Testament Bible. Not knowing any better, I asked him what happened to Abdullah from the film. He explained that the character was made up.
I always thought David Wilkerson was a bit of a square and lived a sheltered life growing up, but he had a burning passion getting people saved to know Christ. I didn’t agree with him on everything, but he did what he thought was right and succeeded. Yes, this movie is pretty cheesy and cliched and Erik Estrada playing a gang member as well. But it’s still uplifting.
