- I think that this winter-themed rag fits with the season. It is a very unusual rag and very little is known about the identity of the composer.
The piece was composed nine years after the town of Saskatoon became a formal city in the Canadian West. I learned that the town originated as a land grant to the Temperance Colonization Society of Canada, whose aim was to escape the liquor trade in Toronto and set up a "dry" community in the Prairie region. I hope you like this winter rag. I am wearing a hat that my aunt gave me for Christmas.

Nice rag!! And a very cool looking hat😊
Interesting… Can you describe the hat please?🤔
Fantastic hat to accompany your performance. Will you eventually finish off the rest of the Liebestraums?
Cool cap!
What a fun piece! Thank you. How do you learn so fast?
I appreciate your telling us about the music Thanks bringing some sunshine to this cloudy day
Love the cap, Very dapper.
Leander warms my heart. His genuine smile is a real treat, not to mention his amazing skill!
Leander.....love the hat !!!! LOVE your gift, so very wonderful !!! YOU ARE AMAZING 👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️
Not only do I enjoy your music, but your outfits too! Cool hat. Good performers dress good. Someone keeps those shirts perfectly pressed. Looking forward to what's next. Thanks Leander.
Mr.LEANDER.....Nice selection 👌
Great tune! Great hat! Thanks, as always, for entertaining us.
Half the fun of seeing these videos is to hear Leander talking! 🤩
Absolutely Astonishing !😂❤, You are one in a Million , So Amazing 😂😂😂❤❤❤
You are so talented keep up the great work
You brighten up my day Leander, I think you are brilliant
Now this one I REALLY have to show to my piano player friends!
The minor key theme reminds me of Salomé's Slow Drag by Brun Campbell 'The Ragtime Kid' who was playing in saloons (cap included) when he wasn't much older than you!
I love listening to the rag style piano music Leander. You’re very talented at playing. ⭐️👍👏👏👏👏👏👏⭐️⭐️👋👋👋👋
sameeeee
Bravo.....great performance.
I think this may be one of my favorite rags that you’ve done… maybe it’s the minor keys. Very good tempo and how cool to wear the hat to add to your performance… You look like you’re straight out of 1919!
My wife and I dearly love this young lad and the fact that he's a genius❤
A very fancy rag! So much fun! Thanks Leander!
wonderful as usual, and I love the vocal introduction of each song!
Flying fingers with a smile!
that is not a smile, thats a signature move! ;>
Cool hat!
What a beautiful melody! And what a very elegant pianist! Thank you Leander!
always when I see and enjoy your music I also wish you a great teacher
I LOVED THAT tune Leander. Well done 😊
Leander, here’s some history for you regarding your new hat/cap: Flat Cap. The flat cap, also known as a driving cap, originated in the British Isles in the 14th century. Characterized by its rounded shape and small stiff brim, it became a staple in golf fashion during the early 20th century. Golf legends like Ben Hogan and Payne Stewart popularized this style on the course.
Enjoyed the tune and your playing as always.
Wow, you look great! And, of course, sound fantastic
Klasse. Prima. Einwandfrei.❤
I love to watch you play. You are a joy! Love the hat, too. I have one just like it.
Great performance. You make that piano sing young man.
What is the secret of this boy to learn practise, memorise an perform two pieces of piano music a day?Amazing
Perfect pitch
Outstanding memory
Total love for music
Inborn agility of hands and excellent brain to hand coordination
Freedom to do this instead of spending time on working on pieces properly
No classical music, not sight reading training, no scales, no etudes, no exercises, no work on sound
No critical feedback on the quality of produced pieces
No other child of similar level of abilities is allowed to spend practice time like this. All the others are busy learning conventional way.
@@MishaSkripach You forgot the smile that steals souls.
@@jura-sito Lovely smile, indeed! This goes under "total love for music". I think, Leander does not realise yet the extent of his own talent.
I really wish that serious learning gets involved, because he can blossom into one of the best concert pianists in the world, classical or jazz.
Such talent is an asset for life. The lovely sincere smile should last a lifetime, not just for childhood on youtube!
I think that is a great style hat for you!
Very nice.
You're getting better and better, young man! Bravo!
Brilliant! And visually delightful in your 'glad rags' to cap it off! What a bright New Year you have been gifting with your nimble fingers on the ivories. Making our days shine! Love, God bless, Pat
The hat is very stylish!
Leander, I want to say I am your biggest fan, but I am sure EVERYONE feels that way! The good God has blessed you with a terrific talent & personality! I wish we could know one another in real life!! Thank you for helping me smile! And that is a perfect tam for you!!
That was amazing Leander.
well the hat reminds me of the young Glen Gould. thanks for your winter 'Canuk' rag.
I love your hat! And the 🎵 🎶 🎵 🎶. Very cheerful and well played
Nice tempo!
Keep on Smiling and playing your Groovy tunes ❤️✌️
Very interesting music. Thank you for introducing it!
Stunningly good young sir!
That's quite a unique rag -- has some interesting passages in it -- almost like Chopin. Nice hat -- I wear one almost exactly like it.
Agile fingers!! Delightful. It sounds a bit for Halloween. I'm not sure what I hear. Maybe a touch of the old Adam's family TV show?
Love your outfit....very Rag time. Love the music
That was fun 🙂
Excellent performance on the piano!
That's a very good hat for your face, Leander. I presume it was a gift of Weinachten.
Your play is extraordinary.
Yes thank you
My aunt gave it to me.
It looks similar to the hat you are wearing
@Leander-piano well then, good choice.
@Leander-piano i have a request
Thanks Leander! You brightened my day.
That hat fits the vibe perfectly! Love it!
Your the man ❤. I have the same hat 😅

Wonderful Leander. Love your new cap too 🤩
Thank you for sharing your talent.
Great performance and I love your smile!
Some tricky turns in that one..Nice..!
- I think your aunt has excellent taste in hats !!!
💯💯💯👍👍👍. Like the hat too! Keep playing 🎹🎹🎹😊
You might be getting additional exposure soon 👍👍
Good job, Professor Leander.
The term "professor" was often used as a nickname for skilled piano players, especially in jazz and New Orleans music, to show respect for their musical talent and expertise. This title has historical roots, as many bandleaders and accomplished musicians were referred to as "professor" due to their training and mastery of their craft.
Do you realise that what you say is damaging to the child.
A great tune Leander, You certainly have music 🎶 in your blood and maybe piano wire in your veins that blue 💙 shirt an cap suits you a wonderful demonstration of your incredible talent loved all the music you give us 😊❤
Leander- You never disappoint. Your Mom & Dad must be so darn proud of you. Keep them coming. : )
Absolutely great! You Play so much Musik without notes- my admiration ❣️❣️❣️❣️
Well now, Leander, that's a fine rag, very happy! Must have been composed in the cold to keep people warm, especially if they wore a hat. I like your hat, it's a good one for tickling the ivories or driving an old English sports car like Triumph or Austin-Healy (I had the cars, didn't have the hat, though)! We all appreciate the new and unusual songs and information you find and give to us. Thank you so much, and stay warm and happy! 😄🤗 Jerry
keep your smile to the left, that is totally a signature move! ;>
A showman at heart 😅 👏👏👏👏😉
Wonderfull Leander, Thanks.
I like the hat.
That's a yowza of a SaskaTune! Just shaking my head at your ability and talent. There is so much going on in this difficult piece, and you, as always, played it brilliantly. Vibrant selection for a vibrant pianist. I love the hat, and I love the smiles. 😊😁 I also appreciate the history. Thank you, Leander! 👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️
Your tempo reserve has improved immeasurably ! --- Just think "Syncopation" --- Your chapeau is appropriate to the ragtime genre -- But it hides your handsome face, Angel ❤
Put some speakers outside, and you'll have all of your neighbors in your front yard with lawn chairs 😅
BONSOIR TRES BIEN LE SOIR C EST UNE BONNE AMBIANCE MERCI AU PETIT ET A SES PARENTS MEILLEURS VOEUX POUR 2025
I totally dig the hat, dude!
What an outstanding performance! I see many young piano players on TH-cam who are, for lack of a better term, robotic in their playing style. They have been pressed into a mold, and follow a pattern without deviation.
This young man is not one of those: There is a feeling within him that is guiding his style. His soul is in it, letting his own nuances shine through. Please encourage him to continue in this way, because his feeling for what he is doing is truly wonderful!
If able & appropriate, I would recommend for him to view performances by Luca Sestak, another notable & highly commendable pianist who was allowed to apply his own feeling and soul to his music, and has stood to prosper because of that. 😊
👍🤩 👏👏👏 et la casquette te va très bien 👌🥰❤️
You are looking sharp tonight.
Fantastic Leander and nice hat! When I visit my 90 year old mom in Florida, we watch The Lawrence Welk Show. He had some great piano players on that show. We also watch Fred Astaire movies and Singin' In The Rain. I also love "ABBA The Movie" which showed ABBA on tour in Australia in 1977. Just mentioning some things I think you would enjoy if you get time. 🎹🙂👍
Playing great. Looking great. Love that hat! Keep on doing what you do so well!❤😊
Always amazed ... this guy is phenomenal
Love your outfit, and especially the hat!
This is a beautiful piece! Once again you play brilliant!😀
😂 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 genial 👍🏻🥳🥳🥳 🤣 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 👍🏻 💪🏻 😊 🤗 💐
Kid, you are amazing!! You remember all these songs you play and no sheet music to follow. Wow, nice job and again nice smile!!!
that's brought a BIG smile to my face this frosty morning. thanks little buddy
Hello LEANDER, I was surprised today: you're wearing an English flat cap, just like I do every day. Welcome to the ‘club’! 🎩
Great tune and the look is amazing today! ❤
A great piece, well played by a very smart young man. Thank you again!
Nice! I really like the pieces that stretch from end to end of the keyboard. They’re probably my favorites because you are so skilled at playing them!
You look amazing in your new hat!! Tell your aunt that your fans love her gift choice!
Canadian composers have to write fast rags because it's so cold there!
A cute rag! Sounds like something Scott Joplin and Johann Bach might have collabed on if there’d been a way for them to meet!
I love that idea!
Always smart get on Britain's got talent!! 😊😊😊
He would win, no doubt about it
love the hat little man!!!!!
My man there’s a piano stool at Walt Disney World with your name on it!
This is great!
You look like you just walked off the set for "The Sting!" Very snappy hat and shirt. Great song as well, Leander! You have remarkable ability and are improving by the second! Who wouldn't take a train to Saskatoon and sit for a spell to hear you perform in the Cub Car?! 🚄🏞️⛰️🚠⛷️ 🚄🎹🎶🪄
So nice rag‼️ And so cool cap 😊
Thank you for playing one of my favorite types of piano music! 😊 Awesome job!!!
Loved it!! Love you!!
Well done!
Killed it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
