The blue handle awl-like tool is a bead reemer. The intended use is for enlarging holes on beads but I use mine FOR everything from sewing to crafts to furniture restoration and more

Sue Wolfe- We use a ratcheting screwdriver instead of single use screwdrivers whenever possible. My husband wore his out between work and our household projects. A must have for anyone! I need my own, hint-hint!

Hi Courtney, the correct pronunciation for the AWL is simple All. its used for starting screws when you don't have a power screw driver, i have a few of them depending on the size of the hole i want to make. Great ideas for things to have in your crafting kits i have most of the ones mentioned already but the air 3 by Cricut and the heat press i don't have but once we have moved i will be getting those when my craft room is put together. I love this channel always great crafting ideas and things that you use ideas that come in really handy. God bless you for sharing.

Happy New Year!!! So great to see all these fantastic tools. I saw your ladybug vac back when I first discovered TH-cam and got one. It's great...and so cute. I saw how you used the miter shears and thought that's going on my Elfster Christmas list...and I got it. Slowly but surely adding to my tools. I have a Dremel somewhere. And the paper cutter. I saw a tip about the spray tent and they suggested checking out thrift shops for a kids small pop up tent. Would that work? And a lazy susan is on my list too. So many goodies and so little time...and money. But here and there...👍🏻.

I have several of your picks. I use all of mine a lot. I'm not sure how I did crafts without them. I have several pairs of scissors that are used for different things. Pinning shears, good fabric scissors, good fussy cut scissors, big big and little. I also have 3 sure binder hit glue guns but I have a several cheap glue guns that are just used for wood glue, fabric glue, glitter glue whatever kind of hot glue had is own glue gun. I even have a white fabric glue gun and a black fabric glue gun. That way I don't get much guess mixed together. I also have a hot glue pan that is great for small items. I get my tweezers out, put it in the glue and place it. I live it. I don't have a spray tent yet so I use a child pop up tent. It isn't as good as the spray tent but it gets the job done. Cuticle cutters works the same way as the sculpting tool does. Again I use mine all of the time.

  • @OrganizeCreateDecorate
    @OrganizeCreateDecorate 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

Great ideas, Courtney. Thank you for taking the time to describing why you like each one. That's extra helpful. 🙂
For those that might want to search online. The screwdriver is called a *ratchet*. They can be switched from screwing-in or removing a screw. The tin snips type you shared are called *aviation snips*. Unlike regular tin snips, they double pivot, making cutting easier. My Daddy was a tinner, so that's how I know the difference.
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!🎄

I love my lady bug vac - it’s so much fun to use!
I have the miter shears, but am unable to use them - too much arthritis in my hands. I did find a very small table top saw that works well, though. I think it has a 4” blade.
Thanks for all the great suggestions!

I already have many of these, so thanks for confirming my choices. I have been switching from wood working to paper crafting and the one thing I really enjoy is a laminator. It is very fun and useful, and they are inexpensive. The expensive thing I am getting as a (late) Christmas present is an embossing/die cutting machine. They are $50 to $250, so I let my husband choose the right one. I can't wait to get it.

You were right, it's pronounced "all," and I love it, too! In polymer clay, we just call those things a needle tool, and I've got 8 of them, in different forms! I also have your lady bug and your magic glue gun clay tool (that's what it's sold as, a ceramic clay tool, but I use it for polymer clay, but never thought to use it for glue because, duh! So thanks!!) You're spot on with your tips and I loved them all!!!

love your suggestions. I have to say I have bought many that you have stated. the miter sheers have been an absolute game changer.
And I agree about the craftsman screw driver. Having the interchangeable bits is awesome. And I love the ratchet capability. Saves your hands and wrists. Definitely saves you from stripping things out as well. I love craftsman. whether I am working on crafts or my car. They are a GREAT brand. They also guarentee and warranty their tools. Sears use to honor that guarentee, by just switching out a broken tool, bit, socket, what have you, at no charge.
And I just recently had a bday and the lady bug vac was my newest gadget to add to the tool arsenal. Love that bug. cleans like a dream.
A tool I have found this year that I have found myself using is the knock-off cricut tool at dollar tree for weeding vinal. I find that I can not only do that but make holes, pop sections out of projects and so much more. I bought a second one just because I misplaced the first one and panicked. that's how I know it's that good. when you purchase a second of something to ensure you still have one. just in case.
Merry Christmas to you Courtney and Merry Christmas to your family and crafting family. It's been a great year getting to watch your channel. lots of inspiration. ty so much. You have been a lifesaver. literally. ❤🎅❄💙❄💚🎅

An you link the paste/burning medium you use? I saw Jennifer from A Little Bit of Calm and Crazy talk about it too but can’t find the video. Want to look for it at the store. I have the Scorch Marker but want to check that paste (?) out too. I also have the 2 ingredients you mix to make a solution that scorches but it kinda messy.

Thanks for the very informative video. Your tussle with the spray paint tent made me laugh 😂, reminded me of Chaplin. Have a blessed holiday season.

Love this list! I bought a miter tool but lacked the hand strength to use it so has to send it back. 😢

You seem to have a very practical approach to crafting tools. I’m weighing the pros and cons of a paper cutter. I want to make small ornament size boxes out of card stock so am looking for a cutter and scorer in one that does a good job, is user friendly and has easily accessible replacement blades. Any suggestions?

So with my Fiskars paper cutter, I can actually score as well. It comes with a scoring tool.

Great list! Totally agree that the awl comes in handy more often than you think. I also love my micro zip sander. So much easier to hold than the sandling blocks. Question for you about the miter shears. I have them and think they work great for cutting tumbling tower blocks and other items, but I have trouble using them to cut anything flat and thin like a single Popsicle stick. It seems like the blade just won't engage unless there's at least somthing substantial there. Am I doing something wrong or is there a blade adjustment I should make for that?

I have found that some popsicle sticks cut easier than others. What I usually do is take the tip of my miter shears and gently press it into the flat item, especially on the edge (kind of starting the cut) then move the item to the cutting position and it should cut.

Can you pls tell us what is your “go to” glue gun? I seem to have had better luck with the small fine tip ones than the average size which after frequent use, just die on me and just won’t pump the glue out anymore. Thx for any advice you can give. 😊
