One of the things I love most about homeschooling is you’re not down to public schools schedule and you can be flexible when you need to. My son had surgery this summer and multiple complications and ended up hospitalized for six weeks our school year got off to a pretty rough start. But we are slowly starting now at the end of September we are planning on doing Saturday school because we have Monday and Tuesday morning doctor and therapy appointments. But it’ll all work out we also school year around most of the time he
I've been a follower for a while and just found your curriculum. We've used many over the last few years and I wanted something simple and to the point. I moved to NC just over 3 years ago and my husband works at A&M. A co worker mentioned your husband and your channel a while back and I thought it was awesome that i was already following you here.
I live in England, about 70 miles away from Charlotte Mason’s school in Ambleside and have visited the area many times. It’s in the heart of the beautiful English Lake District. I homeschooled my daughter at a point, pre-covid when it was relatively unusual to homeschool in the UK, and used many of the Charlotte Mason methodologies. Good luck with your homeschool year! I wish I had known about your resources when I was homeschooling.
Wait a minute, Amy. I’ve got to take a break. LOL. I am convinced you have Home School Year 2022-23 planned. Love, love, love the beginning of the school year full of potential and possibilities. God bless all of your students and God bless you, Amy, in your vital role as teacher and administrator of your home school. You are doing an AMAZING job!
Always check with your state and see what they require for homeschooling. Every state is different. I would have loved to home school my kids, but at that time I would have been jailed because it was not allowed. Just FYI.
Hi Amy hi everyone ,watching from Louisiana and the weather is So nice and cool , Finally . Praying for everyone that maybe affected by hurricane . Thank you Amy for always being such an inspiration.
Thank you for this video Amy. I bought your basic curriculum books for my 6th and 2nd graders this year and supplemented with an American history and bible courses. We have reading time and I still need to find a good science curriculum. But this video gives me confidence that it's all going to work out just fine. I love the freedom of homeschooling! My sons struggled with disciplinary problems at school and I just wanted to remove them from that and get them back to loving to learn. A decade ago when I was homeschooling my girls, people would treat you like you were weird but these days it's becoming more and more common. Thank you for taking the stress out of it for me! ❤ I love teaching now, just as it should be
What a fantastic video and such great ideas. I have been homeschooling for many many years and I am currently in my last year of homeschooling our special needs son. The child lead learning and the Charlotte Mason approach is an excellent excellent idea. Thanks for sharing.
46:49 was the tune from your washing machine? For a moment, I thought it was mine. Thinking in my head, “No, I don’t have a load but why is there the familiar tune?” Oh, it’s from your video. Lol
What an informative and helpful video! Thank you Amy for sharing it. This is my 3rd year of homeschooling and it gave me the confidence that I'm on the right path.
Good morning. I hate the title on the "for Dummies" name on the series of books. Very interesting info for your school year, thanks for sharing. It doesn't apply any longer, but great info. Have a terrific Tuesday and I will see ya tomorrow
We home educate year around, but take breaks for the best weather. We keep the children in during the heat of the day in the summer...so we do a couple hours during the summer, we enjoy the fall immensely here so if we were going to take a few weeks off...Septrmber and October is our favorite time to spend days at the park, in the winter we get extra readalouds in, and as soon as spring comes we take time off for tge yard work and gardens.
I went to private schools, so we had Bible class and memorization every day/week. On Wednesday, I was in Pioneer Girls. My kids were in Awana. My favorite things we memorized were the Christmas story (I can say it with Linus on Peanuts lol) and the different chapters in Psalms. I am grateful for those assignments. I went to Institute of Basic Living (and Basic Youth Conflicts) conferences in the 80s, also. Good stuff! Thanks for the walk down memory lane! 💝
You are such an encouragement to me, thank you!! We do Awana my oldest (11) started at age 3, it's amazing to see how much they memorize! I need to memorize more myself! 💓 thank you for the bible "chat" videos they have been helping me grow and stretch!
My 4th year homeschooling and I love the freedom in homeschooling and we don't use curriculum. Unschooing in my own way lots of child lead/ interest lead activities works for us.
I have a grandchild who has taken an interest in crocheting and knitting. This would be a great quiet time/audio book time activity. Loved this video:)
You are a amazing Mom. To homeschool your children takes alot of patience. I was never homeschooled but if I was school aged nowadays I know I would rather be homeschooled. Great vlog.
Good morning Amy and everyone. Texas said on the news home school has went up in the pass 2 years to 40% Not just one parent doing it but both parents. That's wonderful.
Here in Ontario our government has many websites that parents can get free curriculum and see what you can teach your kids. It’s great. Canada is great for homeschooling as long as you let your local school board know your kids are still homeschooling. It’s great.
My daughter is in 7th grade and I’m reading her the little house on the prairie series before bed! We were watching the old tv series and she said she wanted to read the books! I love the little house series so no problem! My daughter does public school and her us history class is using everything you need to ace US History book in her class! I got the other ones like math and science too! I like to have things for supplementing if needed. Now that she’s older and they have more honor courses I don’t need to as much! My washing machine sings me the same tune!
This is my second full year of homeschooling. I am a retired teacher, so it has been hard to get myself out of the public-school mind set. Last year I just used several different books and created my own curriculum based on the Standards of what children are expected to learn by the end of the school year. I found that it was just too stressful for me to try to make sure I was fitting everything in and getting lesson plans done. This year I purchased a curriculum called Sonlight. I love it. It is a little expensive, but it comes with lesson plans, fiction and non-fiction books and it ties the scripture in to the lessons. I know it isn't for everyone, but if you can afford it; it is a wonderful investment. Another plus is that you can use it for the next child coming up. Thanks for all the wonderful content.
We love the Apologia Who is God series! My kids (8 of them) are ages 14-toddler and everyone gets something out of it. We ended up not using the notebooks because most of my kids are elementary age and needed too much help writing in them, But I am looking forward to using them when we have more older kids!
If you can find a five and below near you. They have all kinds of kits and crafts kids would love. Plus wooden model planes. Plus lots of cool books and many other things you and your kids would love. Little bit of everything in the stores. Think you can also order online from them and they ship it to your house.
I was not fortunate enough to be able to homeschool my kiddos, I was able to request the school to allow me to choose the books they read during school time and for reports/free time. My older girls really enjoyed the book series that starts with " This present darkness". It's Christian based and there are several in there series and my oldest loves a good suspense novel or story.
Wow! You have set up a very full year for yourself and your kids - but I know you guys can handle it! :>} I agree with no devises at bedtime. My 11 year old granddaughter was having trouble with insomnia (can you imagine?) until they established a routine that all devises are off at least an hour before bedtime. She spends that time reading - a "real" book (not digital). She also takes a Melatonin gummy to help her brain slow down so she can sleep. I love that you all value reading/books so much. Where would we be without books?! Blessings, Janell

You do what you can do for your situation ☺️
I pray your son makes a full recovery!
Thanks for the mention! Your decision to offer your curriculum for free was a great inspiration for me😊
You have many great ideas ! Thanks for motivating this Momma again ❤️
You are fantastic! I cannot believe I just found your site today, I'm so happy I did. Can't wait to read your books as well. Thank you so much.

That makes me smile...it's always interesting how things work out. Enjoy your homeschooling journeys ❤️
The audio version of Story of the World is amazing. My kids love it! Along with Jim Weiss audiobooks.
You are phenomenal. This is an amazing day structured for your kids. They are so blessed to have you as a mom and teacher!
Love my babies and love our time together
You are brilliant! I love watching your channel and appreciate you sharing your knowledge; thank you!

Momdelights...she is amazing! I love both of you guys!
Long time ago when my kids were very little, we spend Wednesdays just reading.
Both my daughter and my son are doing your home economic courses this year. They love it.

Good morning Amy and everyone. Texas said on the news home school has went up in the pass 2 years to 40%
Not just one parent doing it but both parents. That's wonderful.
The Robinson list, Sonlight booklist, and Ambleside booklist gives you excellent books for the children to read through.
Your plans seem so balanced.

No everyone learned differently
Hey sweet Amy. I'm trying to order your MPow wireless buds and can't find them under your Amazon ordering page. Am I overlooking them?
Amazon doesn't sell them. Goto their web site. I order from there often
