I love watching the striated herons hunt. They are such an elusive bird and seem to spook easily. Great video, thanks

Fantastic. Great time of year for birds, some of the migratory species will be arriving soon too

Fantastic video! I know this is one of your older ones, but I still use this for reference at SOP.

Hi Roger, great video! I live near Olympic Park and saw a large brown predatory bird which landed on my fence with a pigeon on its talons. Do you know what it may be?

Wow what a sight that must have been. May have been a brown goshawk

Great video Roger, great stills, awesome soundtrack - been to this area 100 times, 100's of pics on my Instagram from there but you have species I have never seen plus I must go to the bird hide - never been there as yet

Thank you. It is a place I definitely return to on numerous occasions, and see something new each time.

this is the third video of yours i have watched, and now i have 3 places on my list of "places near sydney to visit".
i had no idea sydney olympic park encompassed actual parks like this, very interesting!
how did you get so good at finding, identifying and photographing birds? i've always loved birds but i'm not particularly good at finding them if they aren't obvious nor photographing them. mostly i spy on the gorgeous rainbow lorikeets that love the bottlebrush in my garden.
    another lovely video, thank you.

I’m glad you are enjoying the videos. I have been taking bird photos for a while now, and thought I’d share video of my experience too. E-bird is a helpful website, and there are Facebook groups that can help with identifying species.

@@RogersBirdingHotspots thank you for your reply roger. yes, i am enjoying your videos very much.
i have only recently discovered the e-bird website thanks to the australian bird reddit group which is where i discovered your youtube, it is quite a bit better than the "the field guide to the birds of australia (9th edition)" that i got for my birthday in 2013.
i'll have a look for some facebook groups that you mention.
looking forward to your next video!
      take care.

Better without the banal noise music more commentry would be nice. The Suger Plum Fairy really.
