- When you finish watching the video, read the article on What it takes to manufacture 3D printers in Europe - blog.prusa3d.com/what-it-take...
We would like to take you on a tour of our factory in the heart of Europe, and show you how a 3D printer comes to life! We'll show you the entire journey starting from a 3D-printed plastic part all the way to packing and shipping. And so much more!
Five years ago, we published the Road to 100.000 3D printers video showing our history and how we do stuff at Prusa Research. And since then, we didn't stop for a moment. New printers, new manufacturing methods, new technologies - but above all: new people! We're now more than twice as big as we were back then! So, sit back, relax and let us take you to an awesome place in Prague, Czech Republic!

Imagine all the jobs created in the centre of Prague. It's amazing what Prusa has achieved. Especially since customer support remained exceptional. Makes me Proud to only run Prusas on our farm.
Yup because that's the real motivation of running a printfarm... the fact that there were a lot of jobs created in the process and excellent customer support. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing what they have achieved. But you should really run your printfarm looking at other metrics.
Generating 800+ job opportunities is a remarkable achievement. Congratulations to the Prusa team.
BUT! A technician certification for PRUSA Partner service and repair would be awesome to open up the market in America.
@@VegascoinVegasAlready there, see PrintedSolid
@@SoulacroupLesCombes I would suggest you have a little more buffer. That way a problem at 3am isn't a big concern. Also know that you would be able to cut down 80% of your print-time without quality loss when moving on to a different model.
But I do 100% agree that their 24/7 support system is great.
I see a factory with all motivated people. Now I understand why my construction kit was so perfect: everything was there, spare material and a perfect manual. I recently built my 2nd Prusa printer, the MK4, and I am very happy with it. I wish you good luck.
don't forget the haribo bears!
this is why people support prusa: they are more transparent than any other company
Wonderful video. A little over a year ago I got my son a MK3S+ as a kit and he built it over Christmas break. It inspired him to pursue engineering and now after a year of hard work on tests and classes and applications he's been admitted to his first choice of engineering school and will be headed there in the fall. He'll have his future education and career in part thanks to Prusa!
This is absolutely heartwarming Good luck to you and your son!
Been a fan for years. From my first MK2 to my two MK3's and my son's birthday MK4. We are a Prusa family. Visiting the Prusa factory is a big bucket list item!
Your son got an MK4 for his birthday??
Good dad.
@@littlefrank90 I've been to the factory. Very cool way of spending 1h of your time!
That’s how to do it!
I would have loved to get MK4 to my birthday!
@@alexpanov I'd like to do that, too. Did you have to reserve a tour or something? Or did you just show up? I can't find any info on the website about touring the factory.
Hi Michael. Please contact our Support Team to make a reservation.

I'm a Bambu user. As of now, I have no desire (or need) for a Prusa. But every single time I watch a video about the production of Prusas, I want to move to Prague and work for Josef. Just seems like such a freaking cool company.
Vote; that Prusa MED/ Honey should be an official merch item in the store.
Great video!
Yes.
It's incredible to see such transparency from a large company like Prusa. Keep up the great work!
Except for "forgetting" to publish sources... Not a real open source company...
@@JohnMarcel666 Hello John. We have a new page with clear status of our releases and explanations of our views here www.prusa3d.com/en/page/open-source-at-prusa-research_236812/
How about the burnt pancake xl model?
And the truth about the unfixable network speed due to bad design choices.. @@JohnMarcel666
This is marketing, not transparency.
Watching this video just confirmed i made the correct choice in buying one of your printers. Looking forward to being part of the PRUSA family.
@@walterrldias I haven't got $1K to spend on my very first printer, so thanks but no.
@@walterrldias If you actually read my comment, i said i bought ONE of their printers. I didn't say which one. So keep your unhelpful comments to your self . Thanks.
@@ShieldJaguar so what prusa did you get if you don't have $1K to spend? Imo paying 15% more for something double as capable is a deal worth making
@@EinfachFredhaftGaming I need to say this is my first printer i don't know anything but i chose a Prusa Mini+ based on cost (i have a wife 😝) ease of use, customer service, reviews and support. I use Apple products (MacBook Air, iPhone etc) and have been very happy with my purchase. The PRUSA family is a nice place. HTH
I remember the video from 5 years ago and have been waiting on an inhouse produced update. Blown away! Congrats Prusa team on the success and hope for a good future ahead. Love the locally sourced components, incubator, and honey??? Awesome
Wow, this exceeded my expectations how much you have improved over years, even though I was on a tour during Prusa Hackathon 2019. Good job and stay strong! 💪
Big love to CZ from Texas! Thanks for everything you do 🙏
I have been a big Prusa fan since MK3 and was one of the first buyers when it was announced. I hope you guys got something in the works to combat Bamboo Printers. They seem to be taking a bit of the spotlight right now.
Maybe, but A1 has a global recall right now due to fire/electrical shock hazard. In a long term - Prusa is still the best choice.
I always tell people their customer service is why I prefer a prusa.
@@awilliams1701 Early on I dealt with them a lot and they replaced several parts on my new MK3 that failed prematurely.
I think Prusa is great but Bamboo is not to be ignored. Lately my Mk3 is getting less usage compared to X1C ...by far. Focusing on what competition does wrong and ignoring the good it wood be a great mistake.
@@gepetotube bambu has the worst support in the industry (unless your problem is the camera went bad, they are good with that). Bambu has speed, but that's it. The quality isn't that great. Even the new ender 3 KE has better quality.
Thanks for being so transparent, Prusa team. That and your machine's reliability and your customer support make Prusa my top pick whenever I need a new printer. I also had no idea you had real Alpacas, that's great.
Thanks to Prusa and their customer support, I was able to realize I needed to sell my Prusa and buy an X1 carbon. Have had zero issues since. Thanks prusa!
Really love your commitment to open source! Thank you for keeping the spirit of RepRap alive and making so many new contributions!! :D
Thanks for a great video. I am happy to say that I am new member of the Prusa family with the recent purchase of a MK4 kit. There has been a few minor issues but your customer support turned this into a pleasant experience with fast response times and quick resolve. So happy I bought a European product.
you guys have grown so much! i´m proud of my Prusa. someday i want to pay a visit there! Love it! greetings from Germany!
the reason i keep loving your product is because you guys are so much in love with it yourself
Man the amount of work Prusa put into their products is insane and even though I have never actually owned one I can tell that their products are very high quality and I hope to own one someday.
All of this is exactly why I believe Prusa is achieving the right model and why you have my full support (and money too) on whatever you are doing.
What a great way to start a new year! Love this update and it's great to see what's on the horizon.
Congratulations. I'm Prusa fan since years, and I'm still happy with all my MK3S ;) Happy printing ;)
I really love seeing companies grow from essentially garage operations into full fledged legitimate corporations. Very impressive. Cheers to your success!
Holy Shit! I'm amazed at all the different pieces of the production chain you've got under one roof. Thanks so much for sharing this.
I love my Prusa MK3S+ printer. It has worked flawlessly for its first year and I have printed dozens of rolls of filament with it. I could not be happier with it!
This is what you're paying for when you buy Prusa. Quality!
Yeah, it is worth every penny!
With ender 3 pro and 400$ I had spec of mk4 but foe building my own printer I can see bambu lab printer would cost what it cost to build
Prusa's use of Prusa's printers is the #1 reason I keep buying them. I know they work, because if they didn't, they wouldn't have been able to send me one!
That said, I'm looking forward to the Prusa i3 SMT fabrication line ;) ;)
Man, I remember waiting several months for my first Prusa printer, a newly-announced MK3 so many years ago! Fast forward to today and my farm has 6 MK3S+, a MK4, 3 minis, a 5T XL, and an SL1S (upgraded from an SL1). And my Prusament wall has about 300 rolls of filament ready to go. I got to meet Jo and Mikolas at a local meetup. I guess I am quite a fan of this company. Soon, I hope to be getting an HT90 to round out the collection!
Hey Prusa peeps - thanks so much for making such a quality product. got my MK4 in the mail on monday, and have been printing since tuesday morning. I forgot what it was like to have a functional, well made machine. You guys are the best!
We have 15 Prusa printers in our college for teaching purposes. I believe the emergence of new competitors in the market will encourage Prusa to continue innovating. We recently acquired one of these printers for our R&D lab, and I must say, they are truly impressive.
Been a fan since i was one of the earliest mk2 pre-orders. back in the wait-list days. It's amazing to see how far Prusa has come. It really does make me smile. Oh, and that first mk2, Now a mk2.5 still runs amazing and prints daily. Thanks Prusa!
YOU GUYS ARE DOING AMAZING. Just got mine and have been using my MK4 non stop.
I am so proud I could see Prusa factory live, one year ago in January moments before MK4 annoucment :)
Did you have to make some kind of tour reservation? Or did you just show up? I want to see it in person, too.
Mindblowing :-) I am convinced Prusa Fan since my MK3. What a sympathic company! Worth my support - and money :-) And my MK3S+ (heavily modified though) runs almost everyday since day1 and never had any big issues with it.
It's just a workhorse. And the whole Prusa Company shows how it could achieve that.
Best wishes from Bavaria !
Thank you for this look inside your Company and its Team 😊
I built 7 Prusa printers and 2 MMU. Three printers for myself and the rest for friends and family. I am yet to have a problem with any of them out of the box. I did have an issue once a few months into the life of one of the printers' sensors. Prusa immediately sent me a replacement for free by 3-day DHL. And, if I had been in a bind, the part is open source and it was available next-day on Amazon. ❤
Truly amazing to see such extensive manufacturing thriving in the EU, and well done to the content team on this great video!
Video jsem si neskutečně užil i jako člověk nepolíbený 3D tiskem. Děkuji!
Dámy a pánové, klobouk dolů. To, co jste dokázaly, by jen tak někdo nedokázal.
Love my MK4. It was my first Prusa 3D Printer. It has certainly lived up to the hype.
Wow, what a way to start lol. That thing even makes my MK3S+ (with Revo 6 hot end) look old.
There are many 3D printers in the world to purchase. But remember, when you purchase a Prusa printer, you're not just getting a 3D printer.🙌🏼
Great video for a productive manufactures more help full for new generation, wish you good luck Prusa
As a x1c owner just wanted to say I love prusa and everything they do. I am Considering buying a prusa xl with 5 tool heads. It's not the cost that is holding me back. It's availability of parts and printer in Canada. Im hoping you guys expand into Canada in the future more, especially with your filaments. ( I know I can order in Canada, but the lead times are way to long)
YES! I too wish the lead times were less. Got my MK5 w/5 heads last week, took a couple of days putting it together and it works great. I too live in CANADA.
@@johnweir4653The queue slowly shrinks as they increase production.
I meet Jo at world maker faire in 2012. Boy has Prusa come a long way! Love my mini+. Thanks for the innovation.
Really cool to see all these tools on the line that look 3D printed and designed for a very specific task
I love prusa and I admire what prusa has achieved so far. I hope prusa will not one day be displaced by bambu lab in the consumer market. They have managed to bring a fully assembled core XY printer onto the market that is significantly cheaper than the MK4 as a kit. Exactly what all prusa fans have been waiting for for a long time. The Prusa XL may be very high quality but unaffordable for makers. I myself have a mk3s+ that is super reliable and I am still very happy with it.
i watched "the road to 100k printers.." like a million times. my favorite content. because of you i bought 3d printers. LOVE IT!
I will always be loyal to you Prusa, the way you operate and your business model. You always be the orgininal and best 3D printer manufacturer.
Great video showcasing your factory it looks like a great place to work. Watching a previous factory tour was the reason I got a prusa printer in the first place and I'm still a big fan today!
I have been at Prusa HQ when I was in Prague, this video reflects the ambiance there really well. Kudos!
I just love this company. Their history, their culture, their business model, all of it. I'm saving for a Prusa to replace my current printer (it 'Ended' my hopes of a reliable printer), and I can't wait for that day to come!
Best printers IMHO. Great times to be a Czech, I am so proud of you guys 👏👍
I love my little print farm - all Prusa machines.
Have you started with a Prusa as your first printer?
No, I started with and Ender 3. Prusa was the first printer I looked at when I started> I first thought Prusa stood for PRinter USA!!!@@littlefrank90
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing all of this. It's incredible to see, what is possible to produce within Europe. Even tho I wasn't able to get my very own Prusa yet, I deeply honor your approach of manufacturing everything in house and one manufacturer only - this truely leads to an incredible product quality.
This is so well put together. I showed this video to my dad, and he was blown away by Prusa. One day I'd love to own one, but for now I'll keep dreaming, and watching this incredibly well done video. :)
I am at a lack of words for the amazingness of this company. But I hope a lot of other companies would be inspired by Prusa Research.
The best 3D printers I have had the pleasure of using (and still do, every day).
I’m so in love with everything you guys (and girls) do! And it’s so impressive and exciting to see you growing. Keep it up y’all - happy building and happy printing! 🧡
I got my MK3S+ kit back during the Covid19 lockdowns and it rapidly became a very useful hobby. I've made a variety of objects for my chicken coops--fence pole extensions, gate latches, egg holders, food bin covers... on and on. And various holders and mounts for the plethora of devices around the house. Next step is an MK4... as soon as I can make the space for it...!!
I am excited to see Prusa’s long term response to the Bambu Lab X1. They have probably been the only real market competition Prusa has had, and it will do nothing but force improvement on an already fantastic company!
I bought my i3MK3S printer in 2019 solely based on the fact that you were building them with exactly the same printer, proving their reliability and quality, I’m still printing without failure five years on. Looking forward to the time when I upgrade to another Prusa printer.
Wow, about 2 months ago, we needed to replace our 4 MK3S and heavily hesitated between Bambu X1C and MK4... We finally went with the MK4 because we were really happy with how reliable our MK3s had been for so many years... Also, we could feel Prusa were doing things.... the Prusa way, and we loved that. But WOW, this video went beyond everything we could imagine to prove us how much we were right to keep supporting such an amazing project and philosophy. So proud of having been and still being Prusa supporters, you guys ROCK !!!
The X1C is more advanced than the Prusa. I own a bambu a1 mini. Im a young Student and im very intrigued by the Prusa Philosophy but I do need to say that Bambu fits my needs better than Prusa ATM
@@Reazy- I really love the Bambu plug and play machines, I don't like to be fixing/calibrating/setting up my printer, I just want to print and Bambu is the best in the markert imo. Prusa is good but they're expensive for what their product is, I wish they can get a better machine ready to print with a afordable price.
I have a MK3 S printer, running great. Never regretted the decision, china printers are cheaper but the quality and customer support of prusa is great and absolutely worth it.
I'm over here smiling at my MK2 from 2016 that is still running strong! I definitely have upgraded it but the same board/drivers and hotend is still going! Prusa makes the best. I hope my MK2 can hold out til the MK5 comes out!
This just gave me a real respect for PRUSA. Never owned one but the new XL is gorgeous. I run bambu now but would love to try the XL eventually. My business relies on 3D printers
I built a Mk3S+ and a Mk4 from kits. I messed up one part badly on the Mk4 and was happy to find the files on their site. Downloaded the file, printed a new part and all was good in the world.
Great kits! Haven't had as much fun since Heathkit got out of the kit market.
Just had a lot of fun assembling my MK4 - looking forward to finding some time to assemble my new enclosure with filter and lights. Please keep on doing what you're doing, quality is far more important than price!
i love prusa' idea of making 3d printers with 3d printers its fucking genius
Absolutely Love it! My Mk 3 is still going strong (thanks to my son for the printer I couldn't afford & now can't do without!) It's awesome being part of such a unique family & watching the growth over the years has been a fantastic journey for all of you! The bold move in making everything open source has certainly paid off coupled with some great old fashioned service & back up, you are definitely on a winner!
Proud to be czech ;) Cool, keep going, wishing you good luck in the future ;)
Czech company that pushes limits. Konečně
Wow, congrats to the creative team behind this video. I enjoyed every second and can only roughly estimate how much work went into it.
We started planning almost a year ago ...
@@thejosefprusaTotally worth it. Awesome content.
during the pandemic i often had to drive through praha on my way to the polish border from upper austria to visit my girlfriend (now wife). everytime i drove by the factory i tried to get an appointment but sadly it was not possible. love your work, and hopefully will be able to afford one myself one day. ❤ from Austria!
Jesteście niesamowici :)! Kocham was ;) Gratuluje :)
prusa research is the most transparent 3d printing company ever
Got my very first printer, which was the prusa mk4 in kit, it took me 16h to assemble because I was super cautious to not screw up, and it worked perfectly well on the first try. I print with PLA PETG and ASA, I switch from 0.25 .04 and 0.6 nearly daily, with incredibly well made prusa filament, and zero flaws (unless my own mistakes) after 100 hours of printing. Prusa is absolutly not cheap, but you pay for quality, and I thing the masterpiece is the prusaslicer that you get for free. Im happy to participate for the success of this company, and plan to buy the Mini+ Mk2 that I bet will appears one day. I don't think you own the largest 3D printer farm in the world tho. I don't think it matters much if you're the #1 or the #5 at that point.
Seeing a company founded and operating in my home country actually innovate and compete on the global market makes me very happy. We Czechs have a lack of successful tech companies, and Prusa is proving that it’s possible for us to become relevant
I decided to buy a good home printer and was between Prusa and Bambu, but seeing an European company so passionate about what they do, creating jobs here and with a great and open and DIY culture, I know I chose well. I am sitting next to my MK4 and I am so glad
Remember the PayPal days? That's when I got my Mk2. Upgraded it to the 2.5. Wish I would have upgraded it further when you had the parts, but oh well. It still runs like a champ. Might need to replace a couple of bearings and the belts in the future, but I still love it. Keep on rockin'!
I remmember the PayPal freezing our account very vividly ... If you are not in need for speed, MK2.5 will keep rocking for a long time - we do not plan to drop support in slicer any time soon :-) Happy printing
Prusa is absolutely remarkable 🧡
I built a MK4 kit I bought on New Years last weekend & I love it. ♥
I don't think, i've ever enjoyed a PR video as much as this one. Nice job guys.
On a side note, really hoping to see that core-xy printer on your AFS system come to the consumer market!
Hi. We will have great new about Prusa AFS soon. Stay tuned.

I didn't realize you were running SMT lines. That is an expensive and awesome dedication to quality and development!
Currently waiting for my prusa mk4 kit. The lead time is kinda big but I have stuff to do anyways so it’s not that bad :)
Please release a real bambulab contender for high temp materials.
I would say an index machine, enclosed (for high temp materials), core XY, with option for multiple filamentets to each nozzle, at least 300x300x300 preferably larger or optional in Z direction to say 1000 or more.
I really like the next machines to be prusa aswell, but feature wise it's an bambulab 😔
Awesome to see how Prusa still pays everything forward with maker spaces, to protective gear to helping students. Josef, lean back occasionally and look what you've achieved before you put it into the next gear again!
Giving a shoutout to open source software systems used in house. That's classy.
pretty timely. according to DHL my mk4 and enclosure kit were likely crossing the Atlantic as I watched this. upgrading from my still wonderful mk2.5. excited for the build!
I don't own a Prusa printer (YET) - if this video doesn't make have huge respect for this company and want their printers / products then I don't know what else to tell you haha. Bravo Prusa. Innovative and efficient to the T.
Just talked my workplace into buying Prusas and not Bamboolabs. I have owned multiple Prusas since the MK2, and my university had over a 100 Prusas in their lab. Prusa is very well proven, and I will always recommend it. Just sent in an order for one MK4 and one Mini+! I'm sure we will get the XL as well later on :)
Very cool to see all of the behind the scenes - it's incredible what is required to build and run a company like this. Makes you appreciate the products even more
I don’t use prusa printers and I have no plans to, but I have big respect for them for what they have done for 3D printing and the community.
Still a big fan of your product and your way of doing it. Keep rocking and keep cool printers comming.
This video pushed me over the edge and I just ordered the MK4 Kit! Honestly, I really wanted this printer all along but I was looking at the bambu labs A1 as it was cheaper and very hyped. However, I kept delaying the order as I was concerned about their support, build quality, and longevity as a company. Then I saw their potential fire issue with their A1 and how they handled it and that was it for me. I've had the MK4 kit in my cart ever since and then this video came out! Thanks, decision made. Buy once, cry once. I can't wait for it to arrive. -Don Eastern WA, USA -- last 2 digits of my order is 37! Maybe that's my new lucky number. :-)
I love their openness and detail they publish. It reinforces our belief that when you're "doing it right", you can proudly and openly show it to the world, and benefit from it.
Best regards Tero, co-founder or Simucube
Absolutely amazing. Keep up the good work, guys.
Jste úžasní a moc Vám fandím !
Very glad to support you guys, really enjoying the MK4, and hello from Australia :-)
