Didnt even know these could be repaired💪💪
It creates a circuit so as long as you can make it still complete the circuit, you can repair it
Nothing can’t be repaired. Just need the right tools.
Nice id figure these couldnt be repaire cuz of how small and fregile they are, guess you learn something new everyday👌💪
As you can see it's a pain in the butt though, and that point wont have the flexibility anymore so it has a higher chance of failing again@@CrazyMindfreak69
Or I mean, you can just order new FFCs for the vast majority of fixes 🤷🏼♀️
For people wondering why not replace it, sometimes (which turns out to be most times) the ribbon cables are specially made for that device and it is practically impossible to get a replacement.
Also, in some countries (unfortunatelly due to how badly wealth is distributed in the world) it is cheaper for some specialist to spend 8 hours fixing it than buying the replacement.
and most of the time those cables are permanently attached on one end with a device. an entire assembly. which costs alot.
wrong, just about every ribbon cable for charging or displays can be found, and very cheap at that.
@@outrage20Ever been to Argentina?
Yeah, most parts are easily found in 3rd world countries.in the first world you have to pay to import a specific part to fix yourself or be at the mercy of people who “do it for a living”
Um, we should force all companies to make stuff cheaper to repair than buy new. This "buy new" is market manipulation from corporations that force planned obsolescence.
I'm gonna level with you, I didn't even bother to think this was possible. Just goes to show there's always more to think and learn. Props to you for fixing this.
Imagine if schools taught how to do electronic repairs, taxes, and how to think for yourself.
You can learn electronics at university. You didn't listen to anything of the shit they did teach you so don't act like you'd have listened if they taught taxes
But mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell
They teach you everything you need to know at public school, most people are just too stupid to apply critical thinking skills.
@CoconutJones_ you probably don't care about how much is bring taken out of your check then. I think the government is all parasites. Fun tax fact. The Boston tea party happened because of taxes. We are taxed over double now. You probably don't care about that stuff though. Have fun at college!
That is not what most schools are for
This happened to a display cable on a brand new display I bought for a phone. Glad to know there's people with the skills to fix it
More expensive then a new cable though..
Happened to mine too, I had q feeling that it would be possible but all the shops I took my phone to said it's impossible, guess they're just not good as this guy
@@xXSjapXxi dont think display flex cables are changeable
@@OculuKabak Not commercially no, but it's still a single part used in the production, so it should still be widely available in bulk order!

This is truly insane. A never thought anyone could repair a connector like that. Wow your a god!!
Thankyou
This is art and brought tears to my eyes. I have repaired thousands of machines myself. So many people will never understand the high level of creativity technical work can require. You have to invent tools and processes. It doesn't just have to look pretty like ordinary art. Has to stand the tests of use and time. If a component cannot be obtained you sometimes have to make it.
👍
I didn't even know there was a way to fix those, I learned something new today
Looks easy, but difficult to do. You did a splendid job!😊👌
Thankyou
I guess I'm old because I love it when someone fixes things rather than throwing them away.
👍
Depends on the situation, better to throw it away here
Is that a flexible mask? Asking because the damage like that is most common on a laptop ribbon cable and I usually either replace the cable or screen depending on how it is connected. Beautiful work by the way. You make soldering those jumpers look way to easy because you are a master at what you do (I say that having years of experience myself but lack that skill level).
No it's not flexible , after apply dry it's hard , can't fold
amazing skill . total G after the apocalypse.

@@n8wolf575this is micro soldering. Far from normal
@@azeraxosu3051 for me thats normal. if you only solder basic shit.....then thats normal for you. this is nothing special for a skilled person. hell im a mechatronic. i cnc, i mill. i lathe, i do all electronics on prototypes. if youre 30+ and you call yourself a someone that can "solder" this stuff is what you can do. surely he made it look easy. but this is decent and not that special.
@n8wolf575 are you sure your not just selling yourself short? 😮
@n8wolf575 I agree but also disagree, being someone like yourself but only 28 I've been doing things like machining and making knives, jewellery etc etc since I was young. Father is an engineer etc but most people that can solder would not be able to do this lol I bet this guy is working under a microscope with a display screen.

Idk about this... In high frequency circuits the in/output impedances have to be matched in order to maximize power transfer and avoid reflection. High frequency circuits are the circuits where the length of transmission line is greater than 1/10th of frequency being transmitted. Keep in mind that digital signals are composed of entire spectrum (Fourier series/analysis)
Well, I didn't even think this type of ribbon cable WAS repairable. I'm impressed.
Absolutley exelent work, these connectors are an absoulte pain to work with.

Why do you comment something like this and don't use tools, like Shazam or the Google assistant to find the answer almost immediately?
This is not a personal attack. I just want to understand the logic.
It doesn't always work though. I had my brother in-law fix a ribbon cable for the Wi-Fi in one of our daughter's laptops.
After the repair, the 5GHz (only) was constantly erroring out.
Checking conductivity with an ohm meter, it was fixed - so why didn't it work?
Also, the Wi-Fi worked when we swapped the ribbon cable from an identical laptop - very confusing and frustrating after putting so much time into trying to fix it...
I vaguely understand the bypass somehow wasn't impedance matched well enough to the original ribbon cable.
Is there some way to get both the resistance and impedance to match the original ribbon cable?
I didn't know this was possible. freaking beautiful
can you cut it strait across right behind the tear. Then scrape back about a eigth of a inch of the coating across the whole thing then just plug that part in?
I really thought you were gonna put dried noodles in there lmao
Rarely am I impressed by a TH-cam short, this is such talent and ingenuity.

good job on this one mate!

Unless you need a specific longitude, you can pick off the end of the flex cable (solid plastic sticker on one side), cut behind the broken part, re-add the sticker, and expose the lines again
You have my respect dude that's crazy awesome 😮🔥🔥🔥

Great...Seen IT so often without No Idea how to fix it
Thats awesome! Had to do similar repairs on rf traces on pcbs, its actually kinda fun. Idk if they did it in this video but I would always recommend double checking continuity between lines at the very end before sealing it back. Nothing's worse than finishing a job only to realize there was a problem and you gotta go back. Otherwise, the repair looks awesome
Already checked
Back in 2001 i was trying to replace my nokia phone body panel, it was the one with a sliding keyboard and the first phone with a camera and damaged the same cable 😮 i F up a super expensive shit at that time with no way to fix . 4 years later my father found one Filipino tech guy who fixed it, all those years I didn’t know how it done and actually I didn’t want to because it already killed me inside. I am girl and I have been changing parts in my phones for a long time. I once changed a chip but not complicated stuff like you do. But for the first time I find a channel with clear quality, where I understand what you are doing. I want ro watch more of your vidoes in the future, maybe learn more from what you do. You are smart, hard working, talented and in this world unfortunately too much consumerism is happening. We should do this more...not throwing everything in the trash...not this tech and materials.
👍
There's also another way: cut it then scratch the ones until you see the shiny part of the copper. There's a reason why they are always provided extra long.
Pay attention to the video. The other end of this ribbon is permanently attached to an LCD panel. There is no extra slack in the ribbon to do that kind of repair. That's also more intrusive and error prone then the repair shown in this video.
Does the change in length not affect it?
A phone repair did it for me when he did a mistake to change the display of an iphone then the finger print wasn't working but he fixed it ! Now i know how hard this was ! ❤
