I like how Toby goes from making an “edgy” hack of EarthBound to composing a track for Ultimate.
I played some of it.
Edgy AF man. Literally there is an entire area that is just blood soaked snow everywhere.
Then it gets trippy AF.
It just shows that determination can really get you far
He goes from making an original song for his version of his favorite game to making a remix if that song for the game that revived his favorite game.

I like how Toby Fox went from just being a Rom hacker, to a well-known, and well-respected game dev. if Undertale wasn't successful, I doubt we'd know about Toby.
He was famous beforehand though? Homestuck is what skyrocketed him into fame from the niche of rom-hacks. He was well-respected and known for his musical ability with it and was then made even more famous thanks to people finding out he could code and make rom-hacks, which is what led to Undertale's more well-documented scene and starting success.
I would know him if undertale wasn’t successful, as long as it EXISTED. I love bad/hard games, mostly pixelated ones

I don't know how Toby managed to outdo himself with this new arrangement. I feel like any issue i had with Undertale's Megalovania has been washed away. I had always kinda disliked the calmer area and the guitar solo that continued too long after it with a repetitive sound..
But now it's so beautiful. The marching band sounds mixed with the piano and.. whatever the smaller instrument is, alongside violins and god it's just such a massive masterpiece now. Everything is so enhanced and there's never a lacking moment. t
The guitar solo shredding in the background conveyed WITH the main theme after its exploding back in AND finshing off with Heartache/ASGORE and Bonetrousle motifs. In addition to hints of the Homestucky guitar taking a slightly alternate note throughout the main theme.
It only leaves you wanting more now. I'm excited for Little Town Hero or whatever that Gamefreak game is purely for Toby's hand in the soundtrack.
Toby is composing, but the mastering is being done by in-house people, someone who composed for black and white

There really isn't a split between "normal human" and "composer". It sort of just comes to you, or you just put things together until it feels right.

Sounds better in the Smash version IMO. It's less straightforward and harmonizes with the new piano-like instrument that's playing on the left side.
It's a way to simplify it since megalovania it's in Gm you can use the third chord which is Bb (Major) then jump to C or Am which are similar chords, the you go to the D which is in both versions an after that you gather some tension with cromatism (B or that D#, which is not in the Gm scale but it's present in the G pentatonic with jazz)

@@armageddongirl612 to be fair that may be for the best. we are already lost, But we can try to save as many souls as we can. from the eiternal damnation that we as hs fans. who lost any semblance of said souls. have unknowingly but very willingly served on a silver plate were put down the best cutlery, and had a nice candle lit dinner. I love how the the undertake version still uses the original official earthbound guitar sample. That’s so cool. It also makes it very difficult to listen to earthbound music now.

I mean Sans doesn't have a spirit yet. The only thing he has is a costume. Before the costume argument is brought up, I just wanna address that Chrom (a fighter) has a mii costume and appears in another fighter's final smash. So technically Sans has a chance.
The only thing that needs to be made for him is a viable moveset
