I'm going to be installing one of these here soon. I'm installing a 55mm manifold, 5.5g/s injectors, and this air filter to finish off my 22XE Cam swap and performance build. This is the filter I went with since I like the stock oval but I can't have a wider air intake since I lean over the tank to the inside when cornering. So this filter has a narrow width but increased area, perfect.
Hey, it's FranBunny from HDForums! How you doing, girl? Always enjoy the tussles you get into with all the "manly men" on the forum. Regards, "Dynamick".
I did the external breather as well...to eliminate the oil blow by getting in my filter and into my intake. I did that right from new...prevents all the carbon buildup on the piston as well.
@@canadiansa1nt309 I did it myself...I bought two 1/4 inch through the bulkhead barbs from Amazon...spun the stock rubber inside hoses around...measured the distance I needed...drilled holes for the barbs...connected stock inside hoses to the barbs inside...then connected black gasline hose from the back of the plate outside barbs...connected to a T-joint barb on the backside of plate...ran a single hose from there to the front and under the frame...just vent it to the ground...you can vent to a holding container if you want...not much comes out anyway so I don't use a holding container. Take the back plate off for all this to make drilling and connecting easier...I secure hoses to the outside barbs with zip ties...tighten with some pliers. The inside stock hoses don't need any zip ties as they are held in place as there originally were. I think the whole job cost me $20.
I had that filter on my 2022 fat boy...I went with the BMF from fuel moto..it;s even better than the Ness one...and fits in the same cover...but I didn't like the plastic nuts ..I crazy glued them on..was worried about one falling into the intake...be carefu!
t would b quite nice if you could replace that 'screamin eagle' cover with one that matched the harley logo on your tank. I think that would look amazing!!
Change the cam and make it sound Harley lopey. Slip-ons and air cleaners just don't do the trick. No need for a "stage 4" but the cam is a simple and easy thing to do. So-called "stage 1" is nothing but a waste of money cooking uncooked cookies. It doesn't amount to much. However, HD will convince you that you need their Screamin Eagle tuner to get the most out of your stage 1. My advice: NEVER ever use Screamin Eagle performance parts. They stink in terms of performance. If you need to maintain your warranty, then you bought a bike you cannot afford. Just sayin.. Screamin Eagle is a very weak bird and not worth the investment...aftermarket all the way.

Sounds like it’s going to be quite the machine.
@@kingkrimson8771 I'm doing great. My bike build is almost done, and life has been calm. And the summer is here! Good days ahead.

I thought about that. It is definitely a good idea.

You have to look close at my bike to even tell that I have done that...when job is complete.

That definitely crossed my mind. Pretty sure that won’t be a problem.
Since you changed your pipes and changed the stock air cleaner did you need to retune the bike?
Yes. The bike was tuned once the air cleaner and pipes were done.
will you be fitting an air filter sock as it will stop the filter getting full of flies and dirt. all the best from the uk.
I probably won’t. I’ve never really used a sock on any air cleaner. I can see the use for it, but I just hate the look.

🤔
Good idea , was there any problem with leg and knee clearance ? Thanks .
I had no problems.
Just don’t drop the spacer by mistake and start the engine 😬🤣🇨🇦
Yep, thought of that. Wouldn’t that be a fun mistake 😬

I’ve always thought about a cam. Just not sure if I need it or not.
