Brother this is an EXCELLENT video and I’m so thankful for the mention. This topic is so important to talk about- so many riders feel exactly this way and by talking about it, others will know that they are definitely not alone.
I battle seasonal depression even here in Virginia where we might get 3-4 snowfalls per winter. Many times we will get some freak warm weather and I’ll be able to get out for a little ride here and there, but it’s only a temporary relief. I echo what others are saying about gym time- I survive on my Nordic Trac studio cycle doing virtual rides. The endorphins from exercise really help. Other than that, I survive by watching channels like yours!! I watch motorcycle content to keep my passion alive as I look forward to the return of the warmer weather and riding!
Hoping that one amazing perfect single American woman that’s watching sends you a message - blessings my bro!

Totally agree.Even more so depressing when your job is more demanding during the spring summer and fall when the weather is perfect time for riding. Finally get a weekend off to get out for a ride before winter and of course the weather turns to shit.

Fall is actually my favourite time of year to ride - comfortable temps you can dress for, a lot fewer bugs, and no holiday traffic on the roads. Yes, I know that winter is not far off for me in Edmonton, but I discovered (or rediscovered) a way to combat SAD - exercise. Working out during the non-riding months has literally transformed my life. No more depression, lots more energy for everyday activities, and I've lost nearly 40 lbs of blubber, which makes my bikes faster too! By the way, I'm 65 so being older is no excuse not to do it.

That’s a good idea. I already work out almost daily. I’ll probably catch up on some reading over the winter.

This is so true. I'm in Alberta and I'm just dreading the upcoming winter, like all winters before. I do lots of gym work out in the winter to pass the time and watch lots of TH-cam motorcycling videos. But like yourself I am constantly looking to move. Vancouver Island has wonderful weather with just enough winter break from riding. But the island has the premium dollars of living associated with it

I feel your pain. I think if I moved it would be somewhere in the lower states.

Winter sucks!! Period!! I try to ride right up until I see snow for the first time, that's usually around late November, in my area. I personally love riding in the Fall. To me, it's my favorite time of the year, but that's just me. Basically, my bike in hibernation from December to mid March. That's when I wake her up, from her winter nap. During the winter, to still get that type of " therapy " feeling , I attend indoor swap meets, take trips to different Harley-Davidson dealerships and sometimes just pull the cover off and polish the bike. Have a great one my man 🤘🏻💯👊🏻

Well, i fully agree to your thoughts 😲. I personally intensify my Gym activitities in winter times to feel myself. If weather is ok, I also do longer walks in the forest.

As a fellow SK guy, I feel your pain. But I still do short, in-town rides whenever I there isn't ice or snow on the roads in winter. last year was amazing and I only had to go 32 days straight without riding, and that was in February. Doubtful this year will be the same, as that was a freak winter. More video gaming and coffee times with friends is usually how I fill my extra time. Of course working on 4 bikes in a heated garage helps pass some time too!

Hey, feeling you 100 %. Same here in Germany. I think we donˋt have so much snow, but when it is under 5 it is no fun. So I try to enjoy the last days here and I am feeling kind of pressure when I loose a day because I am busy with other stuff. And Winter goes here to March or sometimes early April. So a long time. And you know what, I am a Niners fan too. So I hope the niners are getting better to reach again Super Bowl. We will see, right now it looks not that way. But a Super Bowl win would compensate the long winter 😅. So stay brave brother💪

I live in northeast Iowa and I get it for sure. I now have a role at work where I hardly get any overtime but that’s one way I passed time when it got too cold to ride, work to save money and vacation for riding season. Last several years it hasn’t snowed enough to justify a snowmobile. I’m trying to find ways to make winter go faster also! 5-6 months is a long time for the bike to sit. And wow you get hammered on your plates! $30 US a year for mine and it would be $20 but I have a special blackout plate! But yeah like you say maybe find some volunteer events, football and hockey get togethers, stuff like that.

I got a couple of pinball machines in my home/office I play the heck out of during winter and I watch youtube videos on motorcycles to give me ideas for next season.

I live in Western Pennsylvania and most years there is always a day or two every month in the winter that it is warm enough for a short ride. Last year was really mild and rode a lot.

The Dark Time Approacheth. Too true. 150 miles north of you I ask myself who would choose to live in a godforsaken place like this. I keep my motorcycle in heated storage near where I live, and have unlimited access. I can get some solace cleaning, polishing, tweaking, re-polishing, but it’s not like riding. The winters are cold, long, grim, and intolerable beyond telling. Go Niners, though.

Heated gear ? On dry roads, -5 C is my limit.

I’m not too into heated gear. Once it starts to get around zero I’m usually done.

Heated gear doesn’t help a lot once snow and ice start happening and they put the calcium chloride in roads like they do here.

Hello saint, I live in Chicago area and ride about the same months you do, however I found a cure , I get out on my electric fat bike unless it's icy out, I can ride down to about 15°, at first it's very cold but with all the pedaling and exercise you start to warm up and it actually feels good and find myself looking forward to winter. Also depression is not necessarily A Bad Thing, it can give you the opportunity to rise above yourself and contact reality, you can be happy with your neurosis, depression is there but you're not bothered by it, and if you do that long enough you may realize that you are not your feelings, and you will let feelings come and go as they please, if I don't mind it don't matter.

when i was still able to ride, i would keep my bike insured year round and, in the winter, ride whenever the roads were clear enough to ride on, though i would only ride in town and only hit the highway when i needed to. i just would have to dress for it. did this in red deer alberta, and kamloops and penticton bc. i miss my riding life, no matter the season.
