    A much simpler and waaaay cheaper way to do this would be to use All for reef. It keeps all 3 of your parameters stable, all you need is 1 powder instead of 3 different liquids, 1 doser instead of 3, and it includes all of the other trace elements! Also, if ya'll still want to go the 2 part way....choose BRS....its cheaper and it's pharmaceutical grade stuff!

    Did you use dry rock or live rock and how long did it take for your tank to cycle ? What do you think is better , live or dry ? Just wanted your opinion . Everybody has a love , hate it seems with both

    • @QueenofReef
      @QueenofReef  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think a mix is best. My aquascape uses dry rock but I have live rock in my sump. Planning to add more too. Cycling with live rock is the quickest and best way but it depends on the individual tank how long that takes - just check your water parameters consistently during cycle process and gauge from that

    I highly recommend Red Sea Test Kit. Hanna is great too but it’s expensive and if you’re on a budget then go Salifert. They are good kits as wel and use them for pH, No4, No3 testing. My KH, Ca, Mg I use Red Sea kit. I use the Coral Pro Salt cause it gives me a jump start on keeping my tank stable. And she is right about testing for two weeks. I test KH daily. Also number one rule and I learned this later “DO NOT CHASE NUMBERS” ever. Just be share it’s with a range. Give your self a spec range like for me for my KH I made a range for my tank “10-11” KH. If it’s within that range I don’t fret. So be sure you’re not chasing numbers because you’ll do more dmg to a tank by doing so. Also, you’ll start dosing as soon as you add LPS/SPS cause they consume a lot of KH/Ca. At least that’s what I noticed in my tank.

  • @itsdezzire5461

    i was told by a LFS owner to dose my 2 part once a week and to unplug my heater, every torch in my tank died, and everything now is dying and i dont even know what to do lol, its like my corals wont even consume anything, also i checked my refugium the other day and all my cheato was gone.... -_- wtf (IMPORTANT: ive never noticed any skeletal growth and no matter how deep i look into it i cannot figure it out)

    • @QueenofReef
      @QueenofReef  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As a rule never dose anything into your tank until you tested your water using a reliable test kit (like Salifert) and only dosing enough to account for how much the corals suck up. If they’re not consuming anything and levels stay the same, that’s good! Means your tank is stable and keep as is. That’s why testing water is sooo important. Sorry this situation happened - I’ve been in the exact same boat before 😩 you’ll rebuild dw!

    • @BlackGoldReefing
      @BlackGoldReefing ปีที่แล้ว

      Careful what you wish for with coralline. If you really want it you may want to test for Iodine and then dos that. In my experience coralline explodes when that’s is in check. You might need to seed it with a coralline algae bottle.

    • @AJ-bi6ns

    • @QueenofReef
      @QueenofReef  ปีที่แล้ว

      No they don't require as much! Most of the time water changes alone can replenish. But need to be checking water parameters to gauge how often need to do the water changes - I recommend Salifert test kits ☺️

    The blocks they sell for salt tanks make it a no brainer. I had a Berlin system and would run two of the big blocks set them right by the filter intakes works great. Also never add fish to your tank with the shops water they use copper for the fish and the copper will kill your Coral's. All the dosing is a pain the blocks are best one kilo blocks I ran two they dissolve as needed . Dosing is a waste of time and money if your not on top of it. So the blocks make it easy .

    • @BlackGoldReefing
      @BlackGoldReefing ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adamlong54 Yeah those don’t get talked about much these days. I have used them for a while now and get good results. I still dose ALK to keep that up, but other trace elements are added through the block. I keep it in my sump in a low flow area and it dissolves as needed. This trick was given to me by a LFS years ago. One box will last me 2 years almost
