    Love AFR. I dose my 210 gallon reef with it with awesome results. One big can of the dry powder lasts me about 3 months with my current uptake. I'm dosing 62ml a day, and that number is steadily rising as my corals grow

      How do you know how much to start with? I dont get that he says start with 5 ml per 100 liter. I dont want to stress out my corals if that isnt the right amount because I am just getting my 2 part dosing refigured and corals are stressed!

    I ran AFR liquid on my 13 gallon for maybe 18 months, and had great success. When I got my 45 gallon set up I had to start buying the powder. Had no problems making the switch, and its a great value. Dosing both tanks now out of one bottle, hard to complain!

    I like the simplicity of AFR. I started mixing up the powder at half strength and dosing it at double volume. That results in crystal clear AFR solution.

    Started AFR a couple of months ago both growth and colour great and getting better won't go back to multiple dosing liquids again. One guy on the comments has the same issue as me you have to wipe the end of the dosing tube regularly as you will probably get a crusty build up that hinders the dosing.

    I use AFR on my 120 gallon mixed reef for the past 3 years. Icosts maybe 100 dollars a year:)) I don't check salinity as it doesn't affect it. I don't check ANYTHING except alk every 3 months. I also use NOPOX as I feed heavy at 30ml every other day. No hair algae and everything looks great.

    For some reason my calcium is consistently high even though my corals are growing. I finally started mixing reef crystals with instant ocean to drop it from 500+ to 450ish. I’ve been excited to dose, but have never had to get despite my chalices growing quickly

      This is what I am scared off! Dd you se alot more alk then calcium b5 you started all for reef! I use over 3 x' the amount of alk as I do calcium so not sure how this will work and I barely dose mag!

  • @karennation3580
    @karennation3580 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    so basically this is kalwasser at a crazy cost! I am looking for something simple since I hand dose. I was about ready to buy dosing pumps and they kind of scare me anyway because of soda ash and ph! What I dont understand is how do they know what you are supposed to dose? You are saying start with 5 ml! I dont get that! I dont want to stress out my corals anymore then they have been lately! Very long story! Should I wait until I get my dosing all figured out again and they are doing better? I really want a change though! I am sick of daily testing 2 tanks plus my cycling frag tank! I also dont know if I need to dose trace elements since I do bi weekly water changes. Should I get an ICP first?

    • @alaind.3176
      @alaind.3176 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Use all for reef, but first you need the right water parameters and after that use AFR

    • @karennation3580
      @karennation3580 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alaind.3176 so get my calcium, alk, and mag right were I want them then start? I use way more alk then anything then a little calcium and barely any mag! I havt been dosing calcium daily and it hasnt even dropped much so I dont know if this is going to work for me. I just got my bottle too! lol I thought I would start with premix first and now I am not so sure about even using it!

    I use all for reef on both of my tanks but I am constantly fighting the crusty buildup on the end of the dosing hose on each of the aquariums. It’s like it’s drying little by little over a couple of days until it’s plugged. There are no other dosing lines near them and they are well away from the water surface.
    On my Red Sea 170 G2, I have it dosing 1ml every 30 minutes throughout the day to maintain stability.
    On my IM20, I have it dose 1ml five times a day.

    • @Bloodredfireshrimp
      @Bloodredfireshrimp ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same issue. Every time I look at the tank or change the floss, etc, i just run my finger across the end of the line. Usually a little piece breaks off and just falls into the backsump to dissolve and the issue is dealt with. A little bit annoying, but i think it takes a day or 2 for it to become blocked. I'm only dosing like 2ml a day tho lol.

    • @JonP123
      @JonP123 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you cut your dosing line at an angle it will help reduce that crusty buildup that forms. It doesn’t stop it from happening but it stretches out the time between cleaning it off

    • @rara5212

    Not sure how to interpret this. I just started using All For Reef powder and this was my first test after about a week of using it. My Alkalinity went from 10.9 to 7.6 and my Calcium went from 500 to 510 so I'm not sure if I should adjust up, or down.

    • @karennation3580
      @karennation3580 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats scary! Thats what I am afraid of! My corals are stressed from me having to refigure my dosing and sounds like this is going to add xtra stress until you get it figured out and by then they maybe dead! I have lots of new corals that arent adjust so well! My hanna checker was reading almost 4 dkh to high so quit dosing and now I am back plus had a bunch of new corals come in many weret even supposed to be shipped! UGGHH

    I use all for reef, for my 55 gallon aquarium, I'm dosing 27ml a day. I premix the quantity for about 20 days consumption. But it gets a yellowish color by the end days, is it normal?

  • @Njwobrien
    @Njwobrien ปีที่แล้ว

    I disagree with the minimal starting amount. When i began, i did that and within a week i had an alk spike of 1.5dkh. Id start 1ml per 100ml and test every second day.

    Anyone's thoughts on using the All-For-Reef powder in an ATO instead of kalk? Maybe at reduced concentration?

    I have been using all for reef for the past eight months. I am constantly having problems with high calcium while trying to maintain alk around 8.5. Sometimes my calcium will rise to 500 ppm but alkaline will lower to less than 8.00 ppm. Anyone else find it difficult to maintain balance?

    • @unwired
      @unwired 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      AFR is not set in stone, if you have in-balance uptake you need to dose alk alone and reduce AFK. They have included it in the manual.

      many people have the same problem, stop dosing AFR and only add something to maintain KH
