On our side of the pond when I started 50yrs ago I started with the dip dye but did`nt like it so I went to the old timers recipe witch turned out was better for preservation than the modern stuff. I boiled them in black walnut hulls and oak bark it holds up really well to the weather. I finally quite trapping a month ago and even the old ones from the collection where still in good shape ,, I never throw things out ,, Tried waxing them to but quite because I think the wax helps hold scent on the traps, on our side of the pond the wrong scent on the equipment could make it or break it. You've had more than your fair share of rain lately. I said it to myself and you did it, dishwasher, the tabs are really caustic good at stripping grease and skin. If you ever stick your hand down a drain that's had a dishwasher running into it you find out.
This was a few weeks ago now. But we could definitely use more again already. What we have had has been a blessing. Yeah i knew they cleaned things well but didn't expect them to come out that good.
G'day Josh just got half a dozen extra traps 3 mb650 offset and 3 Jake's sat them in a bucket of 50 to 50 of vinegar and water for a day and gave them a hose off clean as.Dried them and dipped them in Full Metal Jacket came out great I don't think I'll wax my traps again after using FMJ they have stood up great to the weather.
@@intothenight1993 G'day Josh yea I done some research on it and decided to give it a go it's made in America comes in 4ltr heavy plastic bottle looks like milk not cheap about $60 when your traps are clean I put the FMJ into a small plastic bucket and submerge them one at a time for 60 seconds give them a shake over the bucket and hang them up to dry for 24hrs.I then pour the FMG back into its container to use again.It puts a brown stain on the traps.I got it at Western trapping.The traps fire well with it on not greasy and clean to handle.
@@intothenight1993 It seems very tough been through plenty of wet weather and no problems so far.I meant to mention that I like the looks of those new traps you got they should service you well.I got a good deal on the Jake's and MB 650s so I grabbed them.
@@intothenight1993 I run the MB 650 here. I love them. No loose jaw so beds solid. And dogless. And 4 springs plenty of holding power. I run heavy pan tension and always get a deep pad catch. I’ve never had a toe catch or a pullout. And I use 18” wolf fang stakes.

Hey mate, how do you rate the traps still ? I'm looking at getting a few traps as the property I hunt in North qld is quite scrubby, and usually, the dogs are too quick and hit the scrub before you get a chance to shoot them. I'm looking to get the wts size 3 3 pack they have atm for 200 dollars after watching your videos. Do you ever find size 3 is too small? The local gun shop suggested size 5, but I've only seen you use size 3. Also any suggested baits/lures. Would be keen to private message and learn a bit more if you have the time. Cheers

What is full metal jacket? I've only heard of it on projectiles haha
