  • How to make and mix concrete with a drum cement mixer concrete ratio and how to mix it diy guide for BEGINNERS and DIY , the ratio of sand stone and cement is a medium strength mix you can get stronger and weaker but this is the mix I like and the mixing tutorial order and techniques are the ones i find best. My ratio of 2 sand 2 stone 1 cement and a not to runny mix is ideal and great for many job around the home and garden such as repair work ,and making things like floors , paths , filling holes , drives , foundations , making moulds , pouring , making concrete blocks ,making concrete steps , making concrete slab and much much more .hope this helps and you liked and enjoyed it .

    Hi guys, I am laying a pathway just in front garden. It's all mud atm so needs to be concreted. Length is 3m and the width is 1m.
    Once I have done the shuttering can you please tell me how deep my concrete needs to be? I have a tonne bag of ballast just need to get some cement bags. Also what do I put on the bottom above the mud, shall I out gravel down and then compress it/flatten it etc. Thank you Amy advice be appreciated

    • @macplastering
      @macplastering  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes mate I would lay gravel down and whack it down with a vibration plate, just dont put to much on at one time and bang them down as in 3 inches then whack before you would add anymore, I think for a driveway its between 4 and 5 inches so a patch would be like 3inches but the thicker the stronger you can also add rebar but thats most likely over kill , hope you get on well mate and sorry for late reply

    How long should I keep it in the mixer? What happens if it mixes for too long?
    I did 11 holes for posts. Some were maybe too dry. I followed the “recipe” from the bag, and it was dryer than what your showed.

    • @macplastering
      @macplastering  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mix it just untill its done mate a little longer wont do no harm if you want to make sure, ready mix bags might be different as so post creates here we put water in hole the powder and it just soaks also they are rapid set like 30 mins so dont use that in a mixer best to ho by what the bag says on those

      I don’t use the “fast setting” mix, I used the regular concrete bags. They say to add 2.4 liters. But it seemed very dry.

      if you pour the water in slowly as the bowl turns till its all rinsed then the last bit of water throw at the back you have a clean mixer in-between mixes then put in half the ballast all the cement then the rest of the mix (a lot of people put cement in last then it all sticks round the bowl) in between mixes leave ballast or sand in water turning, end of the job you still have a clean mixer that needs just a rinse

    • @macplastering
      @macplastering  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure Terry mate cleaning in between mixes is a great way to keep the mixer clean I knew a builder once who had a yard back home he would put stones in and let it run for a load of hours the inside of his mixers where always spotless the outside not so LOL

    • @Filipe_Jesus_Oficial
      @Filipe_Jesus_Oficial 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yap. The best way t keep the mixer always clean ,is so: stone and ciment,let the mixer work a little dann tja Sand... So you get your mixer clean am end the Day... And you don't have to spend much time to clean.

  • @jp6975
    @jp6975 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That mixer looks quite big. Possibly a 120 litre mixing volume?. Could you have mixed 2 barrows worth of cement in it in one go?

      1 and 3/4 barrows max from that mixer (it's 136L or something, Belle minimix) - that'll have it right to the edge of the drum, add too much water and it'll spill out though.

    • @macplastering

    How much water did you use in your mix? Would you say its half a bucket or a full bucket per bucket of cement? Thanks

    • @macplastering
      @macplastering  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the less water in a mix the stronger it will be I find it best to let it mix and it will get softer but it would have been around a half or a little less but again all depends on the type of job you are doing a wet mix is easy to spread ect
