i mixed some last year, was doing fence posts. i had a friend helping me but the way we mixed was by using a 2m x 2m tarp. put all your dry mix in the middle, make a hole in the middle of the mix, pour in water then each grab a corner of the tarp. take it in turns to lift a corner doing the opposite one each time. mixes it well and then you can carry it over to the hole, both still holding it you can pour it straight off the tarp in to the hole. worked like a charm!

The bag comes with sand, cement and aggregate (stones) all mixed together in the bag. Just make sure when you buy the bag that it says "concrete mix" 👍
But what if thers no ininstructions or bag? I got a tone to learn about concrete as I'm a beginner and my first slab didnt go too well. If anyone could hand me some advice that would be amazing. I'm trying to make a set of slabs about 1.5/2 inches thick. Also would they require any wire or is that a choice?

They actually do make ideal pets for children . And grownups too !! Being serious once again . I personally know a lady who got involved in a house restoration some years ago . Unfortunately there was asbestos in the property . She's now suffering from pulmonary fibrosis , and as a result , has a limited life expectancy ahead of her , in the years to come . So even as regards your advice about wearing a good quality mask , it makes sense when the alternative is potentially damage to your lungs , and possibly a reduced life span .

Just to let you know, that specific mask is not recommended to be used for respirable crystalline silica. It states this on the website. A better mask to use would be an N-95 respirator or half face respirator with N-95 or higher filtering protection.

People please use safety equipment for concreting mixing . Dad worked in concreting bussiness for years . thought breathing equipment unnessary , he died a brutal death with silica in lungs .

As a child I found that watching someone mix concrete by hand very satisfying. Still do, as I discovered just now. Creepy. Did they crack the case of the missing hardened criminals by any chance? 🤔
Therein lies the problem, most blokes don't read the instructions lol. A good tip for concrete to test if it's good once you've mixed it is to pick some up with a trowel and turn it upside down, if the concrete stays stuck to the trowel it's good, if it falls off it's either too wet or too dry which is easy to tell the difference.
No many people read the instructions! My 6th grade teacher had a banner at the front of the classrooom: "When all else fails, read the instruction". Unfortunately, a lot of instructions are so poorly written and illustrated they are next to useless!

A good tip for concrete to test if it's good once you've mixed it is to pick some up with a trowel and turn it upside down, if the concrete stays stuck to the trowel it's good, if it falls off it's either too wet or too dry which is easy to tell the difference.
