  • Part Two Electronics build in for the upgraded servo motor:
After installing the motor on the Bolton B290VG Lathe with running issues in part one of this video: Here we convert the electronics.
This job is done with very limited hand tools. The kind of tools most interested in lathes will have in their garage.
This portion is much harder than the motor install so if your OK with the extra control unit, maybe don’t do this. Still the improvement is worth it.
If not for the time spent on making the video, the whole job would take more than 4 hours.
This is 2 of 2, maybe 3 videos related to this lathe. It contains all the information needed to convert the old electronics to run the new servo motor.
All parts required to do this mod are available at:www.ServoMotorKit.com
Base kit can be found here:

Do you have any video of load test, cutting steel and threading with the lathe? Thanks for sharing.

The BLDC motor used here is extremely powerful and maintains a constant current in response to the load.

The Bolton is very well made. The only issues in the first 2 years were from shipping damage.
Find it on toolots.com but it's almost always sold out.

The Weiss is near the same lathe but I find the metric version has lower grade adjustment screws and its $1,200 more but hey, it's in stock.
